Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 30
-POV
Ayame-
So, I'm not too sure where they all went when Edon left, but I felt the distance grow as I did my best to continue reading. I wanted to stay focused. The more I know now, the smarter I look later. I didn't get to talk to the other Alphas, but I'm sure I would have made a fool of myself if I had. I took a deep breath remembering the declaration Conri had made. I need to make sure I live up to the title given to me, even if the ceremony hasn't been completed. I found out that my title isn't official until then about....twenty pages ago. This book really is insightful. "Bodhi Cora is a safe haven for all things mystical. Guarded from the ground by shifters and the skies by dragons. They all exist in the tranquility of nirvana." I continued to read, noticing many bits felt familiar.
Fairies rest in the center, holding the power to bend and create. They are not the strongest in number, but they are the most cunning by nature. Royalty reigns within different groups of supernatural by purity.... Well, that sucks. I thought that would be a thing of ancient history. Those I've met seemed to be up to date with many human customs, so maybe this book is older than I thought. However, all the stories within its pages seemed so familiar...so comforting.
I closed the pages and stared at the book with heavy curiosity. Why the familiarity? It feels so real. Like..... Like I've heard it before. I glanced at the clock. It was 1:00am. I had been reading for five hours?! I scurried to Edon's bathroom and washed up quickly. I won't get any sleep if he doesn't make it back soon, but I might still be 'awake' when he gets in here. He will be angry at -. I gasped and halted in the middle of the bathroom. I was doing it again. I took deep breaths at the noise of splattering water droplets as steam filled the room. "They are not Richard... not Richard." I chanted through deep breaths. They won't get angry with me over trivial things like a curfew. I don't have a curfew anymore.
Once I was able to calm down, I went through the motions. Doing my business, taking a shower, and throwing my hair in a loose braid. I went over to the dresser drawer I had taken over on Saturday and pulled out a pair of pink cotton hipster panties. I wanted to be comfy and they were cute. I slipped them on, then dug around his drawers for a t-shirt. Once I found the long sleeved green shirt I saw him in a month ago, I quickly slipped it on and enjoyed the fabric flooding over my body as I snuggled myself into the covers. At least it smells like him. "Fight!"
I lurched myself out of bed confused at what I had just heard. Fight? Fight who? I pulled myself out of bed and went to the window facing the tree line. I was confused at the sight. Half of the internal pack members were huddled around what looked like a boxing ring. In the middle was a man and a woman fighting each other.
When I looked closely, I realized it was Malerie and Conri?! I gasped in shock while I watched her lunge at him over and over again while his hands stayed secured in his pockets, dodging one fist after another. This didn't look like training. Charlie told me the warriors started at 5a.m. so...there was no way this was training.
I rushed to my drawer, grabbed a pair of leggings, yanked them on, then lurched for my pink boots, and proceeded to sprint out to the training ground. I usually stay clear of this area. I'm not a big fan of blood or violence, so fighting.... It's not really my thing, but after what I saw in Conri's eyes, I cannot just let this happen. He looks like he's holding back the urge to kill.
When I opened the doors, the crowd was shouting and it wasn't the most pleasant thing I have ever heard. "Kill the childish bitch!"
"No one likes her anyway!"
"Such shameful behavior."
"How dare you disrespect our alpha?!"
The crowd was growing, and I winced at the overwhelming malice. This wasn't good. I rushed through the grass towards the onlookers and pushed my way towards the front. Once I finally saw an opening, I took it and stumbled in front of the ring. "Ayame?!" I turned to face Kyle grinning happily, Charlie gritting his teeth as if he was holding something back, Vincent staring at me in shock and Edon and Vil shaking their heads. "What are you doing here?" Kyle added.
I brushed off my shirt and he jogged up to me, holding out his arm. I graciously took it and walked over to the guys. "I...I wanted to see what was going on." I said, realizing I was out of breath.
"What's going on is Malerie has finally lost her mind." Vil said, pulling me away from his beta. I was in front of Vil, glued to his chest almost immediately, while his arms laid over my shoulders. I was not complaining at the contact.
"Lost her mind?" I asked between him and Edon.
"She thought it was appropriate to challenge Conri against his order to detain Adolpha." Edon growled. "Then, she proceeded to call you a whore. I'm one hundred percent positive, this has been a long time coming for her."
Conri continued to dodge his sister around the mat and at some point, she just collapsed. "No!" She shouted. Her eyes flashed obsidian black. She...she was about to shift. My whole body paled. The only one I have seen shift before was my triplets. I've steered clear of everyone else. "Fight me!" She growled before a six-foot beast took the place of the sweaty supermodel, panting in the middle of the ring.
"No..." I whimpered.
Edon slipped his hand in mine and squeezed. "Shhh, it'll be okay." He whispered in my ear before standing in front of the crowd. "As an act of defiance, the dual has shifted to spirits instead of skins! Due to this disregard of the rules, a fight to yield is now a fight to the death. Do you agree with these terms?!" He called out to the crowd.
I squeaked in shock. He...Conri wouldn't kill his sister...would he?
"Unable to fight." Conri called, shooting a glance my way, then to his brother.
Edon chuckled. "Fine! The alpha has agreed to show mercy on his pack member who has so blatantly disrespected her alpha. To incapacitation will be the end of this fight! Shift!" Edon boomed.
Conri nodded and shifted within the blink of an eye. It was so fast.... Did those three shift slower that day because of me? I looked up to Vilkas and he shot a glance down at me. "Just watch the fight." Vil grumbled.
The dance at the beginning was now a completely different masquerade. Within minutes, Conri's large form had pinned his sister underneath him while she struggled to find an opening. Conri roared and everyone bowed except me, Edon, and Vilkas. Edon smirked. "That's how you know you are our true Luna, Ayame."
I looked at him curiously. "What...what do you mean by that?" I asked.
"Conri just called for the pack to bow.... We can hear everyone screaming in our heads, forcing themselves to submit, at the moment. Those who aren't here are very curious about what could have possibly called this order to action. You, however, are completely unphased. Human or supernatural, no one can reject the order of an alpha unless you are their equal." Edon clarified.
I shook my head. "Still too much to learn." I mumbled.
Vil tightened his grip with one quick squeeze, then moved his arms to wrap around my waist. "There is still ample time to teach you." He said.
If only they knew.... I was more than eager to learn.
-POV Richard-
"Sir, there is nothing more we can do. The girl really has vanished. I don't know who this Ayame Pierce is, but she doesn't exist in any databases. Not even a driver's license. Where did you say you found this woman?"
I stood to my feet as the policeman looked at me like I was the crazy one. I would know who I have been seeing for the last two years. She lived in my house! She escaped from my house! I manipulated that little insect into my pride and joy and for this insolent man to sit there and tell me otherwise is a lie! I ran a background check on her myself. It may have been some years ago and it was quite light, but she did exist. She was mine! I, at least, had her entire life story.
"Disgusting." I spat back. I buttoned my suit jacket and took my leave. It's been over a month and nothing. Absolutely nothing! The shock is they expect me to think she's just disappeared. They all do. I'm sure this is my father's doing.
Once I made it outside, the honking of horns and the hustle of people made my skin crawl. I don't want to care about anything else but her! I can't even release my stress! Dealing with board meetings, politics, my father.... Ha! There is nothing I want more than to string her up now and coddle her delusions later. The game I missed so very much. To get my fun back, I guess I have to play into the devil's hands. Reluctantly, I dialed that man's number and he answered within two rings. "Hello Richard. What can I do for you?" My driver came around the corner and I quickly got in the back seat. "What did you do?" I growled.
There was a pause as the car started to merge into traffic, then I heard a rather sickly chuckle at the other end of the line. "Removed the problem. She is gone, Richard, and you should move on. Hell, move in with Tanya and actually look like you are about to get married this weekend. She has done all of the work and all you have done is stand around when the cameras are rolling. This is shameful! Tanya is a dignitary's daughter. She will be having this wedding publicized out to the world and you don't even have the decency to take her out to dinner?!" I waited until his whining ended and I rubbed my face. "You made Ayame disappear?!" I shouted.
He scoffed. "Of course, that is the only thing you heard. You made Ayame disappear. Keep a tighter leash on your next pet or the same thing will occur. Strangely enough...even your background check had nothing on the mother or her father. A shame. I was going to wipe their entire lineage off the planet if that would get you to stop. I have other things to deal with aside from your childish nonsense. Get your ass to the airport. Your plane leaves for Paris in an hour. I'm sure your driver is already on his way." I looked around at the city shifting towards smaller streets and open fields. We were headed for the hanger.
"Driver!" I shouted and he just closed the partition in between us. I slammed my hand on the plain black material, enraged by his actions. "How dare you?!" I growled.
"Take her out on the town when you get there. I don't want to hear another word about Ayame Pierce, or you can kiss your inheritance goodbye." The phone call ended, and I stared at the screen, morphing back to darkness as my flaming eyes stared back at me. I won't let this girl win. I just won't.
