The True Heiress's Return

Chapter Heiress’s Return 145

Chapter 145

"Who is it?" Finn called out warily as he stepped out of the living room and saw Yvette picking up the phone.

Yvette gave him a gentle smile. "Walter." Finn's expression softened. "Yvette, it's you. Why so late?"

Yvette tucked her hair behind her car. "I went to meet a company client after school. She remembered Berry's message bragging that Walter had helped her secure a spot at the diplomatic summit. Yvette slightly furrowed her brows and, in a playful tone, said to Fin. "Walter, can you take me to the diplomatic summit?"

Finn was surprised. "The list of attendees for the summit has already been submitted. Do you want to go??

"I thought to broaden my horizons, improve my skills, and perhaps be a helper to you in the future." Finn pondered. without giving a clear answer.

Rebecca came out. It was clear that her eyes were still a bit red. Yvette immediately went over and hugged her arm. "Mom.""

Rebecca held her hand tightly with a playful scolding. "Girls shouldn't always be in the public eye. If Mitchell's company has too much going on, let Walter help manage it.

A hint of panic flashed in Yvette's mind. "Mom, Walter is extremely busy. I can handle these small matters.

"Alright" Rebecca nodded. Yvette slightly lowered her head, hiding the faint cold glint in her eyes.

Fiona stepped outside to take a phone call. It was the contact from Clusia Hospital she had spent a lot on.

The contact carefully instructed. "Matthew enjoys peace and came back last night. Someone was set up to help with his daily needs. That person had a family issue and had to leave for a day I tried to keep this under wraps so you could take over for the day." Fiona's face turned pale when she heard this. "You want me to be Matthew's babysitter? Fiona thought, I'm the eldest daughter of the Banks family. You want me to be a maid?

This situation is unfair to you, Ms. Banks, but think about what kind of person Matthew is. Many more influential people! have asked for his medical help, and he even turned them down. If you go uninvited, there's no guarantee you'll gain anything from it." Fiona's face turned pale as if she were weighing her options.

The person continued, "Matthew is cold on the outside but warm-hearted. Though he seems unapproachable, he's easy to talk to once you know him. If you want him to help treat your friend, you need to show sincerity and everything will work out once his heart softens."

He intentionally said, "And it's not just you who have been reaching out to me these days; quite a few others have been asking for help as well."

Fiona was determined to gain Walter's favor, and with resolve, she said, "Fine, send me Matthew's address."

She arrived at the retirement home behind Clusia Hospital, passed through several levels of security checks, and knocked on the door of a small courtyard.

A middle-aged woman opened the door and led her inside, carefully explaining some details.

"The clothes haven't washed yet. Matthew doesn't like detergent, so hand-wash with soap. Lunch will be delivered by a hotel. all you need to do is set the table. Don't disturb him and rest in the servants' quarters once you're done with your tasks. Don't wander around"

Hearing the last part, Fiona's expression changed, "What if I need to talk to Matthew about something?"

The middle-aged woman handed her a sticky notepad. "Write what you need to say on this and stick it on the living room table. He will see it and get back to you. Just make sure not to break his taboos, it will upset him."

Fiona grumbled as she took it. "Got it." She didn't expect an old man could have so many requests.

Thinking about Matthew's status, Fiona had to hold back her complaints. After the woman left, Fiona looked up at the attic where she heard the sounds of traditional opera but couldn't see anyone.

Fiona felt curious and wanted to go upstairs to check it out when a loud, bold voice came from above. "Make me some

coffee

Fiona's eyes brightened and thought, 'Great!' Even fate is helping me

Fiona made a pot of coffee and took it up to the attic. She gently pushed the door open, and the opera music got even louder.

In front of a window covered with climbing vines was an antique rocking chair. Matthew was reclining in it, sunbathing in a leisurely manner. His face was covered with a fan, concealing his features. Fiona moved closer. "Matthew, the coffee is ready."

Matthew didn't move, speaking dully from beneath the fan. "My stomach isn't good. I can't drink coffee."

Fiona's expression changed slightly. "I'm sorry. I'll change it right away" She ran back to make another cup of coffee, but Matthew remained still. "I haven't had Grandos coffee in a while and miss that taste." Fiona took a deep breath. "I'll make anew."

After another round of running up and down the stairs, Fiona was out of breath. "Matthew, the Grandos coffee is ready."

This time, Matthew didn't even say a word. Fiona leaned in a bit closer and heard a faint snoring from under the folding fan Matthew had fallen asleep.

Fiona's face was dark with frustration. If it weren't for the people at Clusia Hospital and Nancy mentioning Matthew's difficult and moody nature, she would have suspected he was teasing her on purpose. Not daring to wake him up, she reluctantly set the coffee aside and went downstairs to do the laundry.

Listening to Fiona's cautious footsteps as she walked down the stairs, Matthew casually tossed the fan aside, took a calm sip of coffee, and pulled out his phone to send a text. Matthew: [Naughty girl, guess what I'm doing?] Shakira had just returned to her small villa when she saw the text message. She could almost picture the mischievous expression on Matthew's face. Shakira (Are you giving Fiona a hard time on purpose?] Matthew: [Naughty girl, watch your words. I'm helping you get revenge.]

Shakira: Yes, yes. You are the best to me. Thank you, Matthew.]

Matthew: [Don't think I don't know you're teasing me. You might not care, but I'm protective of my own girl and I can't stand to see you bullied.]

Reading this, a warin feeling spread through Shakira's heart. In retrospect, she felt that fate hadn't been unkind to her. It had taken away her family, but given her a warmth deeper than familial love. Shakira carefully typed a line: [I mean it. Thank you so much for being so kind to me, Matthew.) After thinking for a moment, she edited a meme of Love and sent it over.

Looking at the last two messages, Matthew was almost beaming with joy. He quickly took a screenshot and showed off in the group chat: [My dear apprentice sent it to me bright and early. How can she be so clingy?] Yael, who was currently watching the youngest apprentices practicing their morning exercises, texted: [Shakira?]

Barret, who was checking the blueprints at the Aerospace Institute, texted: I don't believe it. Matthew, when did making fake screenshots?]

Matthew chuckled and then casually sent another picture of vermicelli rolls, saying, "My darling apprentice specially came over to make these for me by hand this morning

Ethan, who criticized all the latest research results of the Agricultural Science Institute, exclaimed: [Wah, I want to eat the vermicelli rolls made by Shakira. They took me to a grand feast this morning; I am very angry that those guys waste food.] Matthew leaned back in his rocking chair, feeling
