The Transfer

Chapter 67 - Forbidden

Cameron wiped a damp cloth over my forehead and offered me a small smile. Brayleigh rushed back into the room, shooting me a worried look as she walked over and placed the box of bandages on the table next to the bed. Her mother thanked her as Brayleigh walked over to the sink and washed her hands with the lavender scented soap.

"The silver in your system will affect you for a few days. You're really lucky that you're so strong, Alison. A silver bullet usually kills a werewolf," Cameron told me softly as she lifted my shirt a little more to reveal the coloured bullet wound on my hip. The hole itself was black. My blood was poisoned from the moon's metal.

Around the wound were purple and blue shades. My veins were little black lines. It was like a giant bruise, except it hurt a million times more.

"You'll probably be very weak the next few days. You'll have headaches, you might even vomit. You might not be able to feel your beast inside you either. And you probably won't be able to link with anyone at this point in time. I want to keep you in here overnight so I can keep an eye on you, just in case something happens,” Cameron explained to me. I could barely nod my head at her.

I was cold, yet so hot all at the same time. My body was sweating, my skin hot and clammy. I felt terrible, my whole body felt like it was shutting down. Malfunctioning even.

I watched carefully as Cameron changed some of the bandages on my wound. I'd bled a lot and I was weak from the blood loss. When Leon found me, I had already made a puddle of blood on the ground.

"Do you need anything?" Brayleigh mumbled as she came up to me. She wiped the damp cloth over my forehead as her mother took the bandages and refreshed the wound.

"Keep your water levels up. Get her a glass of water,” Cameron answered for me. I smiled at Brayleigh as she nodded and rushed away to grab my water.

I sighed out softly and winced at the pain. I felt the tears prick at my eyes again as pain shot through me. I gritted my teeth and shivered at the cold.

"Rest up, darling. You'll feel better when you wake up,” Cameron told me. She stood up and left the room, and Brayleigh entered again. She sat in the chair her mother was in and sighed.

"I'm so sorry you got hurt," she said, looking like she was about to start weeping again. She'd cried the entire time we waited for Leon to arrive and she'd cried the entire way back. She felt guilty, but it wasn't her fault.

The rogues...

They'd come out of nowhere. They were so fast. One knocked me to the ground and pinned me down. Several more came all at once and held me down whilst they punched and kicked at me. They'd barely gone for Brayleigh. There was one of them holding her, keeping her away from me. She wasn't a fighter, she wasn't as strong as I was.

The gun came out too fast for my likings. They shot me fast, and then they stopped and they ran. They disappeared in seconds. It was crazy how they didn't kill me. I thought they were going to kill Brayleigh and myself. But when they didn't, it was more than relieving.

But still, there was something off. The way they looked back and snickered with evil smirks as they ran away stuck in my mind. What did they want? Why didn't they kill me while they had the chance? "It's okay,” I mumbled softly, my voice barely a whisper. My throat was dry and raspy. I felt like crap. The hair on the back of my neck stood as I felt Liam's presence. Brayleigh tucked some of my hair behind my ear and smiled at my weakly as she used a finger to wipe the tears.

"Liam, you shouldn't be here. You can't be here,” Brayleigh said as she looked up. I felt Liam come closer. The bond pulled hard. We hadn't been close with each other in so long.

"I don't really care anymore,” Liam's deep voice replied. I felt the room around me buzz. The air was tense as Brayleigh sighed. She smiled down at me and then stood and left the room.

Liam took several moments before he came into my view. I could barely move. I was on my side, as sitting in any other position was too painful. Moving hurt and it felt like I was being stabbed by knives.

Liam sat on the chair in front of me and pulled it closer to the bed. He looked tired, and the fresh bruise on his neck looked painful. I winced at the sight of them as he reached out to me.

His soft hand cupped my cheek gently, his thumb caressing my cheek bone gently. I sucked in a deep breath as I looked at him. He was so damn beautiful.

"You shouldn't be here. You'll get in trouble,” I mumbled to him. Liam shook his head at me. He began to run his fingers delicately through my hair.

"I don't care, Ali. He'll have to kill me if he wants to take me away from you," Liam said back. I stared at him, admiring the features of his face. He looked so tired and so sore and in pain.

"Are you hurting?" I whispered to him as I slowly lifted my arm to touch his hand on my face. He shook his head at me as he ran his free hand through his hair. I wished him and I could just be together freely. I loved him.

"How much longer do I have to do this for, Ali?" Liam asked me. He looked pained to even talk about it. I couldn't feel him. The silver was responsible for that.

I begged to feel my beast. But she wasn't there. I felt normal; human. I didn't like it.

I squeezed my eyes shut for a moment as I forced words to come out my mouth. It hurt so badly. The wound itself was in agony, and being away from Liam caused me agony too. I needed him more than ever. "I don't know, Liam."

Liam's thumb brushed against my cheek again and I closed my eyes to try and stop the tears from spilling. After everything that had happened in the past few weeks, I needed a good cry.

I heard Liam shift forwards in his seat and opened my eyes slightly to watch him slip off the chair and kneel on the floor. He got close to me and rested his head against the edge of the bed. I knew he was tired, he probably needed a good sleep without having Veronica around. He needed me.

I shifted my arm up a little and slowly ran my fingers through Liam's messy hair. He always ran his hand through it when he was stressed. He had been stressed a lot lately, his hair was always a mess. "Liam, it's time to go," I heard from the door. It was Lucas. I wanted to roll over to smile at him, but I couldn't move. The silver was taking a toll on my movement and functions already.

Liam lifted his head and looked to his brother. He shook his head as a dark look crossed over his face. "I'm not going anywhere."

"Henry will be here any moment from now to question her. You won't want to be here when he arrives,” Lucas told Liam sternly. Liam shook his head.

"If you want me to leave, you'll have to drag me out yourself," Liam retorted angrily. I sighed out softly and touched his arm. He needed to go. He couldn't be here when Henry arrived.

"Liam, you have to go,” I whispered out. He clenched his jaw angrily and huffed.

"Over my dead body," he hissed out. He was getting worked up again. I knew he was fragile at this point. One wrong move, he would snap.

I had to be the one to get him to leave. I didn't need to be sharing a room with Lucas because Liam lost his shit.

"Liam, please,” I begged softly. Liam shook his head as he grabbed my hand gently and intertwined our fingers.

"Screw him. I'm not fucking leaving,” he swore. I heard Lucas sigh from the door. I could only imagine his frustration.

I didn't want Liam to go. But I knew he had to. He couldn't be around when Henry arrived. Henry would have already known that Liam was with me. When Henry entered the room, the first thing he'd see would be Liam. We were both already in trouble anyway.

I shivered and moved slightly on the bed. Liam grabbed the blanket softly and pulled it up over me. "He's here," Lucas muttered from the door. I held my breath for a moment and released a shaky breath when I felt Henry enter the room.

He came into my view and I studied him. He looked angry, but it probably wasn't about the reason it should be. I was attacked by rogues and I hadn't heard from anyone that they'd done anything about it. Had they even sent out the trackers to go and search for a scent?

Hell, had they even gone back out to the woods after I arrived in the infirmary?

"Liam, what the hell are you doing here?" Henry's first words made shivers run up my back.

"What does it look like, Henry? I'm here for my mate,” Liam snapped back. He wasn't going to kiss up to Henry's ass anymore. He was mad. But I knew that by tomorrow, he would be fine again.

By tomorrow, Liam would be back with Veronica. I'd be out the infirmary and back in my cabin recovering.

"Your mate is in her cabin, waiting for you," Henry hissed out. I felt a sharp pain in my chest. "Henry," Liam growled lowly. Liam was warning him, and I knew that he wouldn't be happy with how Henry reacted. I didn't know how to calm Liam down. Anything I did pissed Henry off and I didn't need two furious Alpha males in the room.

"Liam was just leaving," I croaked out. Liam snapped his head to me, a look in his eyes. I tried to reach out to him through a link, but it faltered and dropped.

I wasn't strong enough to do that yet.

"Thanks for stopping by. You should probably be getting back to Veronica though,” I told Liam. I nudged his arm slightly. He gritted his teeth together as he gave my hand one last squeeze before getting up and storming out the room.

I looked to Henry, who still looked unhappy. I was a little nervous at the fact that I was so vulnerable. He could say or do whatever he wanted whilst I was in such a state of pain. I was practically defenceless.

Henry grunted and tore his eyes away from me. He looked to the side, clenching his jaw. I noticed the paleness of his skin and the tiredness of his face. He didn't look good

Matter of fact, he'd lost weight. He was skinnier and looked more fragile. Was he sick?

"You're walking on a thin line, Grey. The only reason you're still here is because I know there'd be a price to pay if I kicked you out," Henry said, drumming his fingers along the cabinet next to him. His eyes darted a little before he looked back to me and stilled.

I could feel his intense hatred for me. I knew he didn't like me. Right from the beginning of everything, I had known. But at this point, it was so damn obvious that I had no idea why he was holding himself back from killing me.

"I'm tired of you creating issues here. This is your final warning, Grey. Fix your act, stop causing trouble. Because the next time round, I won't be so forgiving,” Henry spat out. He stood a little taller and gave me a steady eye.

I said nothing as he looked at me. He scoffed in disgust as he turned and left the room. I exhaled deeply once he was gone and I shut my eyes.

I was in deep trouble.
