The Transfer

Chapter 15 - Secret Conversations

I woke early on Friday morning, earlier than I usually did. I had been awake since three a.m and my beast finally urged me to get up after hours of staring at the ceiling like it would change my options and decisions for the day.

I pulled on clothes and my head clouded the closer that I got to the front door. I walked into the kitchen where Ezra stood with Jenny wrapped around him. She was slumped into him tiredly and he had his arm linked around her waist.

They were cute. I had to admit.

"Morning, princess. Sleep well?" Ezra asked me. I honestly shook my head at him. I didn't see the point in lying about it. Ezra gave me a sympathetic look and I shrugged at him as Jenny pulled away and faced me.

"So are you leaving today?" She asked me with a small smile. Ezra avoided my gaze as I sighed and nodded.

"I don't want to, but I have duties and responsibilities back in Terialta. I can't just leave. But I will be coming back to visit, that's for sure,” I told them both. Jenny continued to smile at me whilst Ezra sighed and nodded.

He knew that I had to go, but he didn't want me to.

"Well I have to get going. Long day today, but I'll catch you guys later, alright?” I smiled at them. They both nodded and waved me out the house. I met Lila and Brayleigh outside. They grinned at me.

Lila hugged me tightly, unexpectedly. She held me tight and sighed softly. She must've known that I was going to be leaving. That explained her sadness.

"We'll really miss you," Brayleigh said as Lila pulled away. Brayleigh hugged me and I smiled weakly. When she pulled away, Lila wiped a tear from the corner of her eyes.

"Don’t cry! 1 don't have to leave until later!" I exclaimed. She laughed at me and rolled her eyes playfully despite the tears in her eyes. When I looked back to Brayleigh, she looked as if she was about to cry too. I wanted to cry.

I sucked in a deep breath and nodded my head towards the track. We all set off running fast. The entire way, none of us spoke. We glanced at each other occasionally and smiled. There were even moments where we would laugh at nothing in particular.

We stopped at the stream and I sat back to watch the girls drink. My wolf shook out her fur and sniffed the air. The atmosphere was different and it made me feel... good. It was a good energy that floated around me and it felt wonderful.

I didn't know what it was. But I didn't want it to go away. Because it was good. Really damn good. When we got back to the pack, everyone was awake and buzzing as per normal. But everyone seemed much happier than they usually did. I didn't question it though. Maybe it was just a good day for everyone.

"I'll catch up with you. I think I should go see Henry first and let him know that I won't be staying,” I said to the girls after we shifted back and slipped on different clothes. They nodded at me and I headed off towards the pack house.

People were rushing around. Most of them seemed incredibly busy. They were all talking excitedly about whatever interested them. I caught a few words that sounded like they related to Lila's brothers returning. But I wasn't too sure.

I approached Henry's office. I smelt him from all the way down the hallway. He was a strong Alpha, but that didn't take away the edgy vibes I got from him

"I'm glad they're leaving today. They're a pain in my ass. Especially that girl. She's trouble,” I heard Henry's voice. I stopped walking.

"Is she that bad, Hen? I mean... she was raped by her Beta. She mustn't be that strong,” I heard laughter following. I tensed up instantly.

They were talking about me. Henry and whoever he was in the room with. They were laughing at me. They were fucking laughing.

"I guess you're right. I mean, what wolf can't fend off another wolf? She's weak. But she's curious, and curious people put their noses where it doesn't belong. I'm glad she’s leaving. She'll cause trouble by staying," Henry replied, chuckling too. I clenched my fists, not wanting to hear anymore. I spun around and left the pack house.

I trotted down the stairs and straight back to my cabin. I pushed open the door so hard that it swung open and the door handle lodged itself in the wall.

"Sweetheart, what's the matter?” Jenny called immediately. She appeared in front of me and saw the door. She didn't question it and looked at me again.

I pulled the door shut and clenched my fists again. I felt my claws coming out and they dug deep into my palms. It hurt but it felt good. I was so angry.

How could they laugh at me like that? Did they not understand what had happened to me? Nobody laughs at rape victims.

"Henry and some other guy, they were talking about me. They were laughing at the fact that my Beta... assaulted me. They said. I was weak and that they were glad I was leaving,” I said, my beast growling. She paced back and forth in my mind, angry and upset.

We thought Henry liked us. We thought he approved of us. Why would he do this?

Jenny sighed and pulled me into the kitchen. She handed me a freshly made coffee and I muttered my thanks. I sipped on it and felt a little better.

"That's just the way he is, my dear. I wouldn't let it bother you. You're supposed to be having a good day,” Jenny told me. I took a long drink from my coffee and placed it down on the counter.

She was right. I had to calm down. It was my last day here and I had to enjoy it. I couldn't leave Takiani with a bad mindset. It was supposed to be a good day.

I inhaled deeply and began to calm down. "I'll talk with Ezra about what happened. He'll give Henry a piece of his mind."

I smiled at Jenny and she chuckled a little before motioning to the front door. I realised that I had to go. I had a training to get to. Alfie wouldn't be happy that I was late.

I rushed out the house and met with Alfie and Lila. They were talking about Lila's punching techniques as I arrived. When I did, they turned to look at me and frowned.

"What's wrong? You're pissed,” Alfie asked me. I shook my head at him and sucked in a deep breath. "I'll talk to you about it later. Let's get to training,” I said, nodding my head at them. Alfie and Lila gave each other weird looks before Lila nodded and Alfie shrugged.

"We're not sparring today. You can't run home injured. We'll swim, and then run all the way back. By then, it'll be time for you to pack up your things and go," Alfie told me with a nod. I smiled at him. We grabbed the weights and Alfie made us carry them on our shoulders as we ran all the way to the river. The run was easy and it helped get rid of some of the anger that I was feeling. I was beyond pissed that Henry would laugh about my situation.

First of all, I wasn't sure how he even knew. Who else did? Did the whole pack know or was it just Henry and that other guy plus my friends? Why were they even laughing about it anyway?

Did they not realise how disgusting it was? The Beta of my pack..

When we got to the river, we slipped in immediately. As usual, Alfie steered clear of the freezing cold water. Lila and I shuddered and began to shiver crazily. It was the coldest thing I'd ever felt in my entire life and I had never wanted to jump into a fire pit more.

But we strapped on the weights and began to push our way through the way. The water flowed hard and fast. I slipped several times but kept my balance and pushed on.

"So are you going to say what made you so angry?” Lila asked through gritted teeth as we walked. I sighed and then nodded. I figured I would tell them but try not to disrespect their Alpha at the same time.

I told them both about what I had heard in Henry's office. Alfie went tense and Lila growled in anger. I could tell they were both angry at what happened and it made me angry too. If they were mad about it, I had a reason to be mad too.

But then I remembered what Jenny said. It was supposed to be a good day. I was leaving within a few hours. I didn't want to spend the last of it being angry.

"Don't worry about it. Today is supposed to be a good day, okay?" I said. Lila and Alfie said nothing until Alfie told us to get out the water. For the first time since we started doing this swimming thing, I was excited to run back. I was freezing my damn ass off and wanted to warm up desperately. "Good job kids. You've made me proud,” Alfie told us with smiles as we started to run. I nudged Alfie's side playfully.

"Are you going soft?" I asked him. Alfie scoffed at me and his wolf let out a growl. Lila giggled.

"I'll throw you right back into that river if you don't shut up,” he threatened. I knew he was joking but I shut up anyway. Alfie would have definitely thrown my ass back in that damn cold water if I kept pushing.

When we got back to the pack, I went back to the cabin. I took a hot shower and then changed into leggings and a hoodie. I knew I would be shifting for the run back home so I didn't need to dress nicely.

Era and Jenny had cooked a big breakfast for me. It was the usual with bacon, eggs, pancakes and hash browns. I ate fast and eagerly. As much as I dreaded returning back to Terialta, I was glad that I was going to see my brothers again.

I missed them a lot. I don't know how I went so long without them.

"Are you all packed to go, princess?" Ezra asked me as he began to take plates up to the kitchen sink. I nodded and giggled at him.

"I didn't really bring anything here with me. So I don't need to take anything back either,” I told him. He winked at me and Jenny laughed.

"Smart girl. Travel light. It's always easier than lugging around bags and suitcases, trust me,” She told me with light giggle. I giggled back and drank the rest of my orange juice.

My beast sighed sadly in the back of my mind. She was upset that we were leaving. We knew we would miss everyone. We'd grown close with a lot of people.

Plus, I had a feeling that the pull I had to Lila was going to twist in pain when I left. We hadn't said anything about it but I had a feeling she felt it too. I had no idea what it was and I was kind of afraid to ask someone about it.

I decided not to. But if things got weird with me leaving, then maybe I would bring it up.

"We won't be able to see each other until after winter," I said to Ezra and Jenny. They both looked up at me and sighed softly.

Travelling through snow was too hard. No one enjoyed it and I wasn't about to make a promise to come back for Christmas. It was too hard. As much as I liked the snow, it was hard to travel in. "That's fine. We'll catch up as soon as the snow melts, right?" Ezra said, sounding eager and hopeful. I nodded at him and smiled. He looked relieved as a smile appeared on his face too.

I sighed softly and dropped my head. I was going to miss this place a lot.
