Chapter 88
Chapter 88 Project Transfer
“Congratulations, sir! You are now the owner of Glacier Lake!” said the host. With that, the bidding for Glacier Lake project came to an end.
The hammer price for the bidding had exceeded the amount for this year’s projects. Gwyneth was more puzzled by this rather than being caught off guard. Who is this person who showed up without any warning?” She thought.
She recalled the person’s tone when putting in his bid and realized he did not intend to stop. The man did not care how high the amount. was getting and wanted to win the project no matter what. Thinking about this, Gwyneth looked down and fiddled with the bidding sign in her hand as she began having doubts.
Gaspard and his people, on the other hand, were utterly shocked. A random man had disrupted their well–thought–out plan, and the Glacier Lake project was snatched away from their grasp with no effort.
However, they could not walk away in anger since the bidding for the Emerald Trails Project had not started yet. Gaspard’s throat was filled. with rage, but he could not vent.
A strange light appeared in the eyes of the reporters sitting around, indicating that they were ready to get a move on. There was no way they would let go of the opportunity to report on such an inhumane guy.
All of them were waiting for the emcee to hand over the listing to the man before rushing up to interview the man who placed the bidding. The emcee took the hangtag to the second floor and entered the private room. He then walked out within a few seconds, still holding the tag with shock and confusion on his face.
Gwyneth was puzzled. Even Liam furrowed his brows. The development of events had caused people to scratch their heads.
When the emcee returned to the auction hall he walked directly to the stage and whispered something in the host’s ears. The expression on the host’s face changed into the expression the emcee had earlier.
The host was lost in thought for a few seconds before he cleared his throat in the microphone and said with some uncertainty. “The winning bidder for Glacier Lake had stated that he’d like to transfer his auction proceeds to Ms. Glen from Glen Corporations.”
People gasping could be heard in the auction hall as soon as the host said that.
“W–What the hell is going on?”
“Is that person crazy?”
Those who attended the auction today were more or less educated, yet they could not help but say such words.
The reporters standing on the side could no longer bear it this time. All of them rushed up to Gwyneth and surrounded her from all angles.
The look on Gwyneth’s face showed that she was puzzled. Her eyes could not help but gaze toward the private room on the second floor as she frowned. She would have thought she was dreaming if it were not for how real everything felt.
“Now then, I would like to ask Ms. Glen to come forward and sign the contract.”
Gwyneth was brought back to her senses when Wanda touched her. She got up and slowly walked to the stage; the flashing cameras made her frown. At that moment, she did not notice how there was a smile on Wanda’s face, the kind of smile that could not be hidden.
On the stage, Gwyneth took the Glacier Lake project contract and signed her name at the bottom right corner of the document. After signing the papers, she looked up and glanced over toward Liam. She saw that there was confusion and some hidden emotions behind the man’s eyes.
“Now, let us ask Ms. Glen a few questions. How are you feeling at the moment, Ms. Glen? Is there anything you want to say?”
Gwyneth took the contract, looked at the host, and approached the microphone. “I am grateful to the gentleman who gave me the Glacier Lake project, but it’s too much.”
Wanda stood at the side and could feel her heart sink when she heard that, fearing Gwyneth would outright reject the offer.
“So, to thank you better, I’d like to meet you.”
Not only was Gwyneth thinking that, but Liam thought the same too. Everyone in the audience wanted to meet and know this mysterious person. However, as they expected, the man did not intend to show his face.
“We will meet when the opportunity presents itself,” a hoarse voice came from the private room on the second floor.
After the mysterious man said that, the crowd heard the microphone being turned off and nothing else from the private room.
The person had won the bid for Glacier Lake, transferred his winnings to Gwyneth, and left without a single word.
Gwyneth pursed her lips and looked at the contract in her hand. Her heart was inexplicably flooded with mixed emotions.
At that moment. Wanda received a message on her phone. She quickly turned sideways and opened the text. An address followed by an order for her to tell Gwyneth to meet him there. [Meet me at this address. I have to hide my identity from the press for the time being.]
