Chapter 86
Chapter 86 The Animosity From the Corner
After a few minutes, Liam saw Elizabeth among the crowd and was walking toward her.
“Where did you go?” he asked.
Elizabeth had just returned to Liam’s side and felt her heart warm when she heard him ask. It seemed like this man did care about her.
“I was just casually walking around. I’ve made you worried, Liam,” Elizabeth answered.
Liam looked at Elizabeth and did not speak further. Unconsciously, his gaze surveys his surroundings again. He saw a fierce gaze coming
from the corner. The source of the gaze came from Kingsley.
It was he who brought Elizabeth back here. However, due to her status, he still did not walk over. As time went on, more rage and
resentment were suppressed. Looking at Liam, he could not wait to go up and fight him.
While at the same time, the host’s voice rang throughout the auction hall, “To all directors from all corporations, I apologize for making all
of you wait. Now, let the auction officially start.”
When he heard this, Liam retracted his gaze but felt a hint of uneasiness deep down. All corporate directors were returning to the main banquet hall and returning to their original positions. After everyone had sat down, the emcees at the scene verified them all. Only then did
the auction start officially.
The routine and the flow for all auctions were the same. Even the officials had nothing outstanding with them. At the very start, there were some minor projects or some slightly unpopular locations. Some people bid on them. However, after a few rounds, a decision was made
with three hammers spiked, and this project was auctioned successfully.
When Glacier Lake was auctioned, almost an hour had passed. Glacier Lake was considered one of the hottest picks in the official auction.
It also counted as one of the bigger–scaled auctions. Only a few people dared to invest in it, but they would definitely participate together
when auctioning.
Seeing some big corporations spending money was quite a pleasant feeling for certain small and medium businesses. The starting bid of
Glacier Lake was two times higher compared to other projects. People who were initially interested deflated when they heard the price.
They lowered their head and lost the mood to even spectate.
While looking at Gwyneth, she did not seem that amazed when the price was announced. On Luther Corporation’s side, they wanted to
increase the investment in this project. So obviously, they knew what a hot commodity this piece of land was.
Speaking of this, even the officials seemed to have similar confidence in it. Even if no one wanted it, Luther Corporation would still accept
- it.
Hence, they assumed that this would be a surefire deal.
When she heard the higher and higher prices kept coming. Gwyneth’s eyes shut slightly; it seemed like she was napping. From her stance, she did not look like she was bidding and more like she was here to watch the fun.
She allowed the other bidders to bid and did not make any statements. Not even her expression had changed at all. While she was so quiet on this side, the shareholders of the Glen Corporation, who Gaspard led, were anxious as hell. They were seated at Gwyneth’s side
while Judy was nearest to them.
After bidding for a few minutes and seeing Gwyneth not making any moves, Judy could not stand it anymore. Her body slowly
straightened, and she vaguely glanced at Gwyneth’s side. She kept sending signals to Wanda.
This matter was already planned early on, so Wanda had already received Judy’s signal earlier. At the same time, Wanda felt the phone in
her pocket vibrate. She took it out, and a message came in: [I’ve arrived.]
The message was short but lifted Wanda’s spirits. She put the phone back into her pocket and got closer to Gwyneth. She whispered by Gwyneth’s ear to remind her softly. After listening to Wanda’s words, Gwyneth slowly opened her eyes and moved her stiff neck. She had
not participated in these types of events for a long time. At the moment, she could only feel numb all over.
She nodded at Wanda. It was almost time.
“Let’s start then.” Gwyneth took the bidding paddle in her and raised it before waving it lightly.
“Raise!”
After hearing this, Liam, sitting at the side, lightly chuckled. At the same time, the Glen Corporation Board of Directors let out a sigh of relief. Gaspard was so excited that he almost clapped his hands. Either way, this matter was proceeding just as they thought.
A few people who had the same idea looked at each other. Their faces had a smug look while being secretly delighted.
“Alright, the Glen Corporation had raised the price. Is anyone continuing?” With Gwyneth’s participation, many big corporations with no interest were currently back in high spirits.
However, as much as they were excited, their capabilities did not allow them to participate. It was just after a few rounds, but those voices did not ring again. Ultimately, it was just Gwyneth and another person left in the chase.
It continued a few rounds, and this person would always follow up, which made Gwyneth curious. After looking around, she noticed that this person came from one of the booths of the auction hall.
