Chapter 77
Chapter 77 Trying to Make Wanda a Mole
After Judy finished speaking, Wanda looked up, her lips ready to form a response. However, in the end, she merely pursed them together and remained silent, holding her words back.
“Wanda, you’re just too easy to push around,” Judy remarked, slipping her arm through Wanda’s as though they were the closest of friends. “Fresh out of college and you’re a prime target. I feel so sorry for you.”
“Don’t say that. The CEO has actually been quite kind to me…” Wanda’s voice trailed off, choked with emotion.
“Kind? Then why did she assign a secretary like you to handle sales?” Judy’s words echoed through the hallway, brimming with indignation. Her face took on a look of seriousness.
When Wanda saw Judy’s reaction, her emotions began to loosen their grip on her. A soft sigh escaped her lips, carrying a tinge of sadness. “Honestly, I don’t get it either. It was just a simple mistake with a marker. Did she really have to treat me this way?”
Judy couldn’t help but smirk when Wanda voiced her grievances. She thought to herself, Wanda is so innocent. She fell right into my trap. But I mustn’t reveal my intention now. I need to ensnare her step by step!”
A smug smirk graced Judy’s lips as Wanda poured out her grievances. Internally, Judy reveled in her own cunning. Wanda is so naive,” she mused. ‘She fell right into my trap. But I mustn’t divulge my true intentions just yet. I need to ensnare her gradually, one step at a time!”
Hence, Judy didn’t say much more, offering a simple, dismissive response before leading Wanda away from the hallway.
After that, Judy contemplated the need for another catalyst to sway Wanda to her side, although she hadn’t expected it to happen so soon.
During the afternoon break, Judy sought solace in the Glen Corporation’s communal break area. While it was a shared space for employees, there were a few designated rooms where clients could relax and conduct business discussions. Judy, being Gaspard’s daughter and Gwyneth’s sister, made it a daily habit to claim one of these rooms without opposition, despite her demotion from manager
to employee.
At this moment, Judy was alone in one of the break rooms, savoring her coffee and indulging in some pastries. Suddenly, a knock
resounded at the door. Judy furrowed her brow, mentally cursed the interrupter for disturbing her well–deserved respite. Before she could
even respond, the door swung open, revealing a visibly distressed Wanda.
“Wanda? What’s the matter?” Judy asked.
Wanda’s entrance had caught Judy off guard, leaving her lingering in a state of annoyance. Unaware of Judy’s displeasure, Wanda rushed. toward her, her face contorted with anguish. Within seconds, tears streamed down Wanda’s cheeks as she pouted. “Gwyneth Glen is just
too much…”
Judy quickly realized the significance of Wanda’s tearful outburst. A surge of delight washed over her, prompting her to guide Wanda to a
nearby chair. “What happened? Did my sister bully you again?”
Wanda’s reply came between sobs. “She’s the CEO of Glen Corporation. How can she single me out over such a trivial matter?”
In reality, Judy couldn’t care less about what had befallen Wanda. In fact, she secretly relished in Wanda’s misfortune.
Earlier on, as soon as the previous meeting had concluded, Judy wasted no time informing Gaspard about Wanda’s predicament. Gaspard, filled with delight, had eagerly exclaimed, “We must capture Wanda and have her join our side. It would be even better if we can uncover
something through her.”
Recalling Gaspard’s words, Judy suppressed her annoyance and tenderly consoled Wanda. Actually, she found great satisfaction in speaking ill of Gwyneth behind her back alongside Wanda. Through a series of such conversations, Judy became convinced that Wanda had aligned herself with both her and Gaspard.
One day, after completing their work at Glen Corporation, Judy whisked Wanda away to an upscale restaurant.
While placing their orders, Judy gingerly broached the topic with Wanda. “Wanda, has Gwyneth been treating you the same lately? Perhaps you should consider resigning.”
*Judy, I’ve already brought up resigning with her a long time ago. But she said my contract hasn’t expired, so I’d have to pay a penalty if I leave.” Wanda replied, sighing. Her tone and expression conveyed a sense of hopelessness.
Wanda let out a weary sigh in response. “Judy, I’ve already discussed resigning with her before. But she informed me that breaking the contract would incur a penalty.” Her despondent tone and expression revealed a sense of hopelessness.
“I see.” Judy acknowledged. “Well, how about I assist you in this matter? What do you think?”
Wanda’s expression turned somewhat flustered upon hearing Judy’s proposal. “What do you mean? I… I don’t understand.”
Judy clarified. “There’s no need to be nervous. It’s a simple matter. We just need to ascertain Gwyneth’s stance on the Glacier Lake project.
