Chapter 394
Noelle remained standing outside the hospital room.
When Hendrix stepped out and saw her, he was momentarily surprised. Then, he frowned and asked, "Why are you still here?"
She didn't answer him right away. Instead, she glanced past him, looking into the room.
"She's asleep," Hendrix said, immediately understanding what she was worned about.
"Is everything okay now? What did you two talk about?" Noelle asked.
Hendrix curled his lips into a faint smile before pulling her hand and leading her forward.
Noelle frowned. "Say something."
"I'm exhausted. I just want to go back and sleep. I'll tell you everything after I wake up," Hendrix replied.
He was deliberately keeping her in suspense. No matter how much Noelle pressed him for answers, he refused to say a word.
Eventually, she gave up asking altogether.
When Hendrix said he wanted to rest, he truly meant it-he took her back to catch up on sleep.
Noelle had a thousand thoughts still swirling in her mind, so she had been sure she wouldn't be able to sleep. But once they arrived at Nivis Villa and changed into fresh clothes before lying down, she unexpectedly fell asleep almost instantly.
The curtains were drawn, with only a small night light glowing softly beside the bed. Because of that, Noelle had no idea what time it was.
She reached out, feeling around for her phone. But before she could check, Hendrix's voice drifted over. "You're awake?"
Noelle turned her head toward him.
Hendrix smiled, seemingly in a good mood. "I figured you'd wake up around this time. I've cooked something. Come downstairs to eat with me."
Noelle frowned slightly. "What time is it?"
"Around nine o'clock, I think. I didn't really check."
As he spoke, he walked over and pulled the curtains open for her. Then, he strode over to her bed and extended a hand. "Let's go."
Noelle didn't refuse.
But when she got downstairs and saw the oversized bowl of clumped-together pasta, her brows furrowed instantly.
Hendrix caught her hesitation and chuckled. "I might've accidentally cooked a little too much. But don't worry. Eat what you can, and I'll finish the rest."
"Are you sure it's just 'a little too much"?" Noelle asked expressionlessly.
"Yeah. I haven't eaten in a day, so I'm pretty hungry," Hendrix replied, confident that he would be able to finish it

all.
The pasta tasted horrible beyond words. After each struggling through two bites, both of them finally put down their forks.
Without hesitation, Hendrix ordered food from a hotel.
"From now on, you're banned from the kitchen," Noelle told him.
As soon as she finished speaking, Hendrix laughed. Her words were meant to belittle and reprimand him, yet he seemed genuinely pleased.
Noelle could only come to one conclusion-he was insane.
But she wasn't in a mood to argue with him about anything else, so she asked, "You know everything now, don't you?"
"About what?"
"Your mother."
"Mm, I'd say I know enough."
Noelle fell silent, her gaze fixed on him, waiting for him to continue.
Hendrix didn't keep her in suspense this time. He simply handed her his phone, which showed a photo on the
screen.
"Take a look at this."
Noelle took it, puzzled at first, but still lowered her head to examine the photo carefully.
"This is..."
At first, she assumed it was just an old picture of Hendrix's parents. But then, something felt off.
"The woman in this photo..."
"Yeah, that's Nathan's mother." Hendrix tapped his fingers lightly against the table, his voice calm. "This was taken 35 years ago. At that time, my parents weren't even married yet."
Noelle fell silent. Her eyes flickered as countless thoughts surged through her mind.
