Chapter Chapter Forty-Five: Big News from the Doctor
Malachi’s POV
Two months later...
“Hustle, Malachi! Hustle! You’re down the home stretch,” Uncle Clay’s voice boomed as he rode on the tailgate of Uncle Colin’s pickup truck while I was running as Amon-Re’s wolf form, the adrenaline in my veins flowing with fervent passion and fire.
It’s been two months since I officially mated with all thirteen of my mates. And my heat weekend- no, my HEAT WEEK (after the weekend of mating frenzy)- was nothing short of blissful passion that had all of us satiated and satisfied. Of course, I knew that Travis and Sapphire were caught red-handed with trying to record the events from the weekend (as did their respective dads, who ought to have learned from what they pulled with my parents back in the day), so I was told my Olodom to keep the events to myself and leave the dynamic duo and the others in the dark. And although it was too good not to tell my friends, I needed to punish them a little bit.
And since then, things have fallen into a gentle pace. Although I was still homeschooled and taking online classes while enduring combat training and immersing in my royal lessons, things were kind of lax for me and my family and friends. I had learned that Gabe and Mike had decided to make their unions with the Booker twins official by marriage as did Phillippe and Claude with Tomeka, Taylor and Terrell with Destiny, Kaden and Clayton with Mariah, and even Abaddon with Alyssa and Azrael with Addison. My brothers finally got hitched and I was certain that I could count my new in-laws to keep them in check.
As for my relationship with my mates, things haven’t been more sweeter as we enjoyed more dates and lunches with each other after a long day. Of course, we made sure to keep the passion out of the bedroom (thanks to my fathers’ threats to emasculate my fiances if they tried anything funny), but we were willing to wait.
As for Bethune Memorial High, everyone was now on my side and any form of derogatory comments made against my family and the Moon Goddess was met with expulsion (for students) and termination of their jobs (for teachers). And all the students there were now looking to me as their role model but knew that I couldn’t return due to too much bad blood that had happened in the past.
Of course, Ryker was still out there, but all eyes were currently on the lookout- supernatural and humans alike- to make sure that he doesn’t try anything reckless.
And right now, I was currently working on my running times as my supernatural halves with my uncles timing me on my speeds. I was down the final stretch and I had never felt so alive.
“Almost there, Malachi! Just a few yards left!” Uncle Clay hollered over the bullhorn as we reached the palace grounds.
With one final push of energy, I summoned the strengths of my wolves and used my speed to make it back to the backyard. Finally reaching my treasured garden, I shifted into Amon-Re’s human form and accepted a change of clothes from Destiny and Tomeka.
“You did good, kid,” Uncle Colin replied as he and Aunt Lailani stepped out of the truck while Uncle Clay stepped off the tailgate. “You’ve gotten faster since your mating. Keep it up and you’ll be as fast as your dad.”
“But remember to take it easy,” Uncle Clay pointed out. “No need to overexert yourself. You and your Dad are so alike in wanting to go the extra mile these days.”
I shrugged, slipping on my tennis shoes before sliding the sleeveless T-shirt over my head. “I just want to keep the pace,” I replied, accepting a bottle of water and chugging it down...right before dashing to the nearby toolshed and vomiting my breakfast and last night’s dinner.
“Malachi!” Tomeka exclaimed, using her fairy wings to fly over to my side while everyone else followed behind her. “Are you okay?!”
I took in a ragged breath before vomiting again.
“Holy shit,” Destiny replied softly. “Malachi, I’m getting your dads!” She shrunk down to fairy mode and flitted to the palace.
I finished vomiting and took a moment to collect myself. “I’m fine,” I replied. “Just a bit sick from running too fast. But now I’m so hungry. I need two pizzas from Papa Johns or two sackfuls of cheese Krystals.”
Tomeka looked to Aunt Lailani before returning to me. “Sickness, sudden cravings,” she muttered. To me, “Have you been feeling like this for a while?”
I nodded. “Since last Tuesday,” I admitted. “Why?”
“Oh, hell,” Uncle Clay said, eyes widening in shock. “We need to take him to the palace doctor now. Malachi, if I’m correct you might be in for one hell of a surprise.”
“Why?” I asked, confusion lit in my eyes.
Aunt Lailani smiled. “Trust me,” she said as she led me inside. “I’ll have Yesenia whip up some tea. You’ll need it.”
**************
After running many tests, Dr. Settel (a motherly were-bear) and nurse Alissa (the daughter of the late Cathy Sue) came back from the lab at UC Hospital with the results. I clutched Dad’s hand as both Quentin and Alain were casually reading magazines. “I don’t know why I need this,” I said dourly, stifling a burp. “I feel perfectly healthy.”
“But not as healthy to vomit yesterday’s meals,” my demon father pointed out. “You’re our only Omega son and we just want to keep you safe.”
“Quentin, please,” Dad admonished softly as he patted my head. “Whatever it is, we’ll be there for you, son.”
“Well, well,” Dr. Settel said happily. “Malachi, are you ready?”
“Ready for what?” I asked. “Don’t leave me in suspense, doc. Spill the tea, already!”
“You’ll need to spread the news,” Alissa cheered. “You’re going to be expecting your children soon! Congratulations, Malachi! You’re pregnant!”
“PREGNANT?!” my fathers exclaimed, mouths dropping low in shock.
“Oh, my,” Dad breathed, hugging me tightly. “My baby’s having a baby!”
“I’m calling your brothers and your mates,” Quentin boomed excitedly. “I need to set the record when it comes to our future grandchild!”
There was a knock at the door, interrupting the rush of excitement. “Who’s there?” Dr. Settel asked.
The door swung open to reveal Raisha and Renatha, the former looking confused. “What’s going on?” she asked.
“Malachi’s pregnant,” Dad replied gently.
“Oh, Goddess,” breathed Renatha, clapping her hands. “Child, the girls need to hear about this! I’m going to call them right now!”
“But the main reason why we’re here is that Malachi has a guest,” Raisha added. “You all won’t believe who’s here.”
Who?” I asked.
The huntress-turned-guard took a deep breath. “Alyssa Cunningham,” she replied. “And she came asking for forgiveness.”
First, I’m now pregnant. And now, Cunningham is here asking for forgiveness?!
Wow. This day...is full of surprises, folks!
