The Sorcerer and Storm Maker

Chapter 9

Inside the castle years ago on the fateful night king Adanjan met his end Afini and Alaelra appeared in the king’s room.

Alaelra sensed something was wrong in the palace as she felt a dark presence coming from the palace.

She told Afini about it, and then they went to the palace to tell warn the royal family.

In the castle they met Prince Atoni.

They tried to warn him of the dark magic Alaelra sensed but the arrogant prince just ignored what they had to say and told them to leave

Afini and Alaelra then left the castle but Alaelra sensed the dark magic growing stronger and stronger from inside the castle.

She then became worried as she knew how dangerous dark magic was.

She told Afini about the dark magic and how she felt it grow from inside the castle and suggested they return to the castle.

Afini angry at the prince for the way he treated the both of them with his arrogance refused to return back to the castle.

Alaelra then explained to him how dangerous the dark magic she sensed was and urged him go along with her.

Alaelra after talking long and hard with her husband managed to convince him to return back to the castle.

Alaelra, using her magic teleported them to the castle and then went to where she sensed the dark magic was coming from.

The dark magic was coming from the king’s room and so they went in.

Once there the both of them gasped in horror as the saw lying on the floor dead was king Adanjan and next to him was a man who introduced himself The Dark Sorcerer smiling with a sinister and twisted grin on his face.

The Dark Sorcerer had killed the king in cold blood.

The Dark Sorcerer then, upon seeing the Afini and Alaelra attacked them with his dark magic.

Afini and Alaelra tried to fight back with magic and power of the storm but the dark sorcerer’s power was too much for them.

The Dark Sorcerer nearly killed them with his dark magic but luckily, Alaelra, as her last attempt to defeat him used the last of her magic to open a portal to Tonjurofori Ama, forcing through the portal before closing and trapping the him in the world of eternal night.

Prince Atoni then came in and saw Afini and Alaelra next to his father’s dead body.

He then accused them of murder and then the rest as they say was history.

Delamu stood in front of Afini and Alaelra speechless as they told him the story of what happened in the castle that night.

They were only trying to help and if Atoni had just listened to them instead of being arrogant and bitter they would not be in the situation they were currently in.

“I used every single ounce of my magic to seal that monster away and now he has returned” said Alaelra.

“But why now, after all these years, why return now?” asked Delamu wondering why the dark sorcerer waited so long to return.

“He needed an army” said Afini realizing why the dark sorcerer chose to attack now.

“An army of what?” asked Delamu, already having an idea of what kind of army a being like Dark Sorcerer could acquire from a place like Tonjurofori Ama but still found it hard to full come to terms with.

“Monsters from Tonjurofori” said Alaelra.

“If what you say is true then that means…Oh no” said Delamu as he realized what the Dark Sorcerer was planning.

“The Moonlight Beast his sent was just a taste of what is yet to come” said Delamu in a worrisome tone.

“I fear what you say is the truth Delamu. When I saw him in Tonjurofori Ama he told me that he was coming and he would do much more than kill the king this time” said Alaelra.

The all then looked at each other with a look of fear and worry as they thought about what the Dark Sorcerer might do if he returned.

“We have to tell the king” said Delamu.

“Let’s hope he will listen to us this time, for all our sakes” said Afini.

They all then left and went to the king to tell him about the Dark Sorcerer.

“My lord” said Delamu as he went down on one knee bowing before the king.

“Rise Delamu” said the king.

Delamu then got up and said “my lord I believe we have some terrible news to tell you”.

“Speak” said the king.

Delamu then turned to Alaelra and Afini.

Afini just sighed before saying, “Your highness, I and my partners believe that your life and the lives of everyone in Buganbal is in grave danger”.

“Danger from what exactly?” asked he king.

“A being that uses dark magic, we believe that he sent that Moonlight Beast and is preparing to send more as well” said Alaelra.

“Hmm and just how did you figure this out?” asked the king, looking at them with suspicion in his eyes as he wondered just how they found out about the dark magic user.

Alaelra and Afini then looked at each other knowing they could not tell him the truth as it would reveal their true identities as the sorceress and storm maker.

“I’m waiting for your reply” said the king demanding an answer from Alaelra and Afini.

Delamu could see that Afini and Alaelra were struggling to come with something to say to the king as they could not tell him the truth.

“My lord, the two of them have examined the remains of the beast and from their experience in dealing with mystical creature such as the Moonlight beast they were able to discover that the Moonlight beast was being controlled by dark magic” said Delamu, quickly formulating a story that would please the king and hopefully end his suspicion.

“Hmm, interesting” said the king as he began to stroke his chin while still looking at Afini and Alaelra with a look of suspicion.

“I’m sure it’s one of those monstrous beings in the forest, I should have wiped them all away when I had the chance” said the king with disgust in his voice which greatly enraged Afini.

Alaelra saw that Afini’s anger grew as he heard what the king said about the mystical creatures leaving in the forest and so she held his hand to calm him down.

“Your majesty with all due respect I don’t think it’s one of the creatures in the forest” said Alaelra.

“And why not” asked the king.

“Because dark magic is not a magic that any ordinary being can possess, the raw and uncontrollable power that it brings corrupts and consumes the wielder, and if the wielder is not powerful enough to contain the dark magic it will destroy him” said Alaelra.

“I do not think that any of the creatures in the forest are powerful enough to contain the raw power of dark magic” said Alaelra.

“I think she is right my lord, the creature that live in the forest are great and tremendously powerful but I don’t think any of them are capable of wielding a form of magic as potent and dangerous dark magic” said Delamu.

“Alright then, if it is not any of the creatures in the forest who could it be” asked the king

“We are not entirely sure your majesty” said Afini.

“But we believe he is planning to attack Buganbal and this time he would not attack with a single monster but an entire arm of monsters from the realm of eternal night” said Alaelra

The king’s eyes then widened with fear upon hearing what Alaelra said.

The king then looked at Delamu and said, “you are my head guard what do you think we should do”.

“My lord I think for now all we can do is remain vigilant and try to prepare as much as we can because our enemy can strike at any time with an army of monstrous beasts to attack Buganbal” said Delamu.

The king just sighed with his head bowed out of fear and worry.

“Do what you must Delamu, for your king, for your people and most especially for Buganbal” said the king.

“Yes my lord” said Delamu.

Alaelra and Afini upon seeing the worried looked on the king face couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.

The king might have been stubborn and a little arrogant but he loved his people and his kingdom.

“Good, you may leave now” said the king.

Alaelra, Afini and Delamu then left.

After they had left the king, he took a deep breath before beginning to think about the evil that was making its way to Buganbal.
