The Sorcerer and Storm Maker

Chapter 23

Delamu brought out his sword and blocked Afini and Alaelra’s path with it.

He could not let them leave and chase after the king and his son.

“Sorry my friends but I can’t let you leave” said Delamu.

Afini then brought out his axe and then fired a lightning bolt through it straight for Delamu, striking him down.

Delamu was now on the ground, wounded immensely by the lightning but he still managed to find the strength to get up.

Delamu then charged straight for them with whatever little strength he had left only to be stopped and lifted off the ground by Alaelra’s magic.

Alaelra then sent him flying and crashing down her on the ground.

Delamu was down but could still muster up a little bit of strength to get to face both Afini and Alaelra once again.

As Delamu got up Alaelra used her magic to remove his sword from his grasp and send it to the ground, far from his reach, she then lifted him off the ground once again and suspended him there.

Afini then approached him holding his axe on his and with red lightning flowing out of it.

Afini reach Delamu and raised his axe, about to strike him down with it.

“Brother please you don’t have to do this. Fight the control of the Dark Sorcerer” said Delamu, trying one last time reach his friend who had been taken over by dark magic.

Afini then put down his axe upon hearing what Delamu said.

It seemed like Delamu had finally reached Afini.

Afini then turned looked at Alaelra.

Alaelra then nodded her head before placing Delamu down gently with her magic.

Delamu was shock but at the same time relieved that his friend spared his life even though he corrupted by dark magic.

Delamu then hugged him.

“I knew you were still in there” said Delamu as he hugged him.

“Forgive me old friend” whispered Afini softly.

Then before Delamu could realize what was happening he felt a bolt of lightning flow out of Afini’s body and in to his, instantly strike him down.

Delamu was about to fall down but Afini caught him before he could Afini caught him and placed him down gently on the floor.

Afini then sighed deeply as he looked at his friend who was lying down on the ground unconscious, feeling an overwhelming amount of guilt over what he had done to his friend.

Alaelra seeing the Afini was in went to him and placed her hand on his shoulder, to console him.

Afini then sighed once again, knowing that they had to continue their mission, obeying the Dark Sorcerer command and find the king.

Afini then left Delamu lying on the floor unconscious along with Alaelra to search for the king and bring him to the Dark Sorcerer.

Few moments after they left Anja and Braiba woke up.

“What happened?” asked Braiba as she placed her hand on her head trying to recall what happened to them and how they lost consciousness.

“It was mother and father, they attacked us” said Anja recalling everything that had happened to them including how their parents attacked them.

Braiba said nothing as she too began to recall how their parents attacked them.

“We have to find them” said Braiba.

“Agreed” said Anja as both Anja and Braiba wanted to get to their parents.

They saw a small glimpse of them before they attacked; a small glimpse that still loved them and saw them as their children, now they wanted nothing more than to free them from the dark spell put upon them.

Anja and Braiba then saw Delamu lying on the floor wounded and unconscious.

Anja and Braiba then rushed to him.

“What do you think happen to him” said Braiba.

“He was struck by lightning” said Anja recognizing the wounds and the burnt marks all over Delamu’s body as clear signs of a lightning strike.

Braiba then check if Delamu’s heart was still beating by placing her ears on his chest and listened for a heartbeat.

Braiba then sighed out of relief once she heard Delamu’s heart was still beating.

“His alive but barely” said Braiba.

“Good, can you wake him up” asked Anja.

“I can try” said Braiba as she began to use her magic to try and wake Delamu up.

Braiba was successful in her attempt to wake Delamu up with her magic and slowly Delamu began to open his eyes and regain consciousness.

The first thing Delamu saw when he woke was Braiba and Anja.

“What happened?” asked Delamu as he got up.

“You were struck by a lightning bolt” said Anja.

Delamu then began to recall how Afini struck him with his lightning as they hugged.

“Afini” said Delamu followed by a deep sigh.

“Where is he, and mother?” asked Anja.

“Gone and by the looks of it, probably looking for the king” said Delamu.

“Where exactly is the king?” asked Braiba.

“Gone, along with my son Amasu” said Delamu.

Anja and Braiba then looked at Delamu, shocked up hearing he was Amasu’s father.

“Wait, you’re that fool’s father” said Anja causing Braiba to hit Anja’s head for calling Amasu a fool in front of his father.

“Sorry my brother has no control over the facehole he calls a mouth” said Braiba.

Delamu just smiled at the both of them thinking about how much they were like his parents, Braiba being sensible with a kind heart like her mother and Anja was reckless and at times did not think things through, being led by his emotions which would often make him speak or things based on his emotion, a trait that Afini use to have but learned to control and subdue as time passed.

“No need to apologize, I know my son can be a bit extreme with almost every the actions he takes. I am partly to blame for them after all he inherited his recklessness from me” said Delamu.

“Do you have any idea were Amasu and king might be” asked Braiba.

“No, I told them to run and hide while I stood behind to fight you parents” said Delamu.

“You really are that fool’s father. Did you really believe that you, just an ordinary man could face our parents in the state they were in and live” said Anja wondering how mad Delamu had to be to want to fight an immensely power storm maker and sorceress.

“No, I didn’t” said Delamu.

This answer Braiba and Anja, especially Anja who wondered why Delamu would fight a battle he knew he could not win.

“Why did you still fight when you knew you could not win” Anja.

“Call it a warrior’s stubbornness” said Delamu jokingly.

“Stubbornness is refusing to obey a command, what you did was beyond stubbornness. It was a good as insanity” said Anja.

“I know” said Delamu before he began to chuckle lightly.

What Anja said reminded him of his youthful days when he was still an adventurer, people would often all him a mad man or a fool but utter insanity was the greatest insult people most often used to describe him and outrageous risks he would take for the thrill of adventure.

Anja and Braiba just watched Delamu chuckling and began to wonder if the lightning truly took away his sanity.

Delamu then finally stopped chuckling.

“Er…Mr.” Braiba was stopped by Delamu saying, “call me Delamu”.

“Alright then Delamu, please can you tell us where the king is, maybe if we find him we can get to our parents” said Braiba.

“No, you faced them once before and they attacked you” said Delamu not wanting them to face their parents once again as he feared that they may not show them any kind of mercy if they meet again.

Anja feeling annoyed that Delamu would not tell them where Amasu and the king were hiding yelled out in rage with his eyes glowing like lightning and his voice deep and echoing like thunder, the sky above them then began to echo with thunder and lightning.

Tell us where they are or face that wrath of a storm maker” said Anja looked Delamu in the eyes with his eyes still glowing.

Delamu was not fazed by neither Anja’s voice nor his eyes or even the sky that roared with thunder and lightning, he had seen enough from Afini with they were young boys to know all Anja was doing was making empty threats.

“Listen child, I knew your father and all the tricks he would pull to try and scare or even intimidate people so what you are doing is just a waste of time. I’ve seen baby beast that are more frightening than you” said Delamu.

Anja’s eyes then stopped glowing and the sky then stopped echoing with thunder and lightning, unable to believe everything Delamu just said and the way he acted so calm around him even though Delamu knew what Anja could do as a storm maker if he got him upset.

Braiba just smiled upon seeing that Delamu was not moved by her brother’s display of power which he often used to intimidate or scare people.

Braiba then went to Delamu and then spoke to him with a soft and gentle voice, “please Delamu, they are our parents. We can’t just leave them in the state they are in, they need our help”.

Delamu then sighed; feeling moved by the way Braiba spoke to him.

“I don’t know where Amasu and king are, I told them to run and hide away somewhere they would be safe. They could be anywhere in the kingdom by now” said Delamu.

“I think I can find them” said Braiba before she began to use her magic to track and try to find out the location of Amasu and the king and after a few short moments pasted Braiba found out where Amasu and the king were hiding.

“I know where they are hiding follow me” said Braiba.
