The Sorcerer and Storm Maker

Chapter 14

Meanwhile, outside Buganbal, the Dark Sorcerer’s army continued attacking the dome but no matter hard they struck it the dome refused to break.

The Dark Sorcerer saw that their attacks were doing nothing so he ordered the monsters to stop.

He focused his dark magic and connected to the mind of Afini who he had corrupted with his dark magic when he hit him with his wave of dark magic.

Afini then woke up and came down from the bed, waking Alaelra who was lying on chest.

“Afini” said Alaelra with a smile on her face, happy to see Afini was alright.

“Oh Afini” said Alaelra as she went to him and hugged him tightly.

Afini gave no reaction to her or the she gave him.

Alaelra then began to sense there was something wrong with her husband.

She looked him and then gasped out of fear and horror upon seeing that Afini’s eyes where now glowing blood red like that of the Dark Sorcerer.

She then sensed the dark magic of the Dark Sorcerer inside him; it had completely corrupted his mind and allowed the Dark Sorcerer to take control over him.

“No” said Alaelra taking a few steps away from him.

Afini came close and closer, and with each step he took Alaelra moved further away from him until she finally reached the wall.

Afini, seeing that Alaelra had nowhere else to go went to her and then grabbed her, holding on to her tightly and refusing to let go.

Alaelra did not fight back or even try to free herself his grasp; she just stared into Afini’s eyes and even though they were now red and corrupted by the Dark Sorcerer’s evil magic Alaelra could still see a glimpse of Afini, her beloved inside those eyes.

Afini then pulled her closer to himself and looked at her before he began to kiss her passionately.

A tear fell down from his eyes as he kissed her before lightning flowed out from his body and struck her.

Alaelra then fell but before she could reach the ground Afini caught on his arms and then placed her gently on the bed.

“Afini” whispered Alaelra softly before she closed her eyes.

Another tear fell down from Afini’s eye as he watched Alaelra close her eyes.

The magic dome that protected Buganbal from the Dark Sorcerer and his monster army broke apart and faded away with Alaelra now unconscious.

The Dark Sorcerer and his army then charged in, wreaking havoc and chaos upon the land.

The Dark Sorcerer riding on the back of the Black Beast of Death made his way to the palace.

Atoni and Delamu felt the ground rumble and shake as the army of monsters charged through the kingdom.

“What is happening Delamu” asked Atoni.

Delamu then went to the window and then his eyes widened with fear upon seeing that the magic dome the protected Buganbal was gone and monsters were now roaming about in Buganbal wreaking havoc and chaos across the land.

“The dome, it’s gone my lord” said Delamu.

The only the king could feel upon hearing Delamu had said was fear and terror.

The first and only that the king could think about at that moment was his daughter as he feared and worried for her safety.

The king then without, saying a single word stood up from his throne and ran, leave the throne room and going to his daughter.

“My lord, wait” said Delamu as he chased after the king.

Atoni ignored Delamu’s calls and rushed to his daughter’s room.

Once there he saw his daughter was awake, the rumbling and shaking of the ground had awoken her up from her slumber.

“Father” said Tari as she saw her father.

Atoni then smiled at her, relief that she was alright before he went to her and hugged her.

Tari though a bit shocked by the hug hugged her father back.

The two embraced each other in a warm and loving embrace.

Atoni, with tears falling down from his eyes began to whisper softly, “I won’t lose you too my child, I can’t”.

Delamu then reached the room and stood in front of the opened door.

He saw the king hugging his daughter tightly.

Delamu now understood why the king ran, Atoni might have been king but in his heart he was a father first.

Delamu understood the feeling quite well, as a father the only thing you want is to be there for your children, to give them love, care and protection.

Seeing the king and his daughter in such a loving embrace made him think of his son and how distant they were with each other.

Delamu just wanted to keep him safe and prevent him from making the same mistakes he made when he was younger.

Delamu then realized that he wasn’t really there for Amasu, his son; he had always been too busy with his work as head of the royal guard to spend time with him.

Delamu then decided at that point that if they all survived and managed to defeat the Dark Sorcerer he would make more of an attempt to spend more time with his son.

Delamu then left, not wanting to disturb the king and allow him to be alone with his daughter, letting him enjoy the joy of being a father as he knew the Dark Sorcerer would soon arrive and when he came, the king might lose his ability to feel joy of any kind, only pain, sorrow and maybe even death.

Delamu made his way to the room Afini and Alaelra stayed in.

He hoped Afini was up and Alaelra had recovered some of her strength back.

Delamu opened the room door and saw Afini standing still like a statue and on the bed Alaelra who looked like she was fast asleep.

Afini heard Delamu come in but did not move a muscle.

“You are up old friend” said Delamu but silence was the only thing Afini replied him with.

Delamu thought the reason for Afini’s silence was because he was worried for Alaelra seeing that she was now incredibly weak and drained of almost all her strength.

Delamu then came closer to Afini and pleased his hand on his shoulder.

“Don’t worry Afini she will be all right” said Delamu.

Afini still gave no reply to Delamu.

“Are you alright Afini” asked Delamu, now sensing that something was wrong with him.

Afini then turned around, revealing his glowing red eyes to Delamu.

“No” said Delamu with both shock and horror upon seeing Afini’s eyes.

He did not need to be told, his friend, Afini, a powerful storm maker had been corrupted by dark magic.

Delamu was about to bring out his sword to defend himself against Afini but was struck by a red bolt of lightning from Afini before he could reach it.

Delamu was now on the ground and hurt thanks to the red lightning Afini struck him with.

He looked at Afini with a look of fear and horror as his friend, someone he considered to be his brother was now corrupted by evil.

Afini then crushed his arm in to a fist with red lightning flowing out of it.

He then raised his arm to deliver a final life ending blow to Delamu.

Delamu too hurt to try and fight so he just closed his eyes and prepared himself to receive the blow from Afini.

But the blow never came and all Delamu felt was a puff of air blow around his face.

Delamu then slowly open up his eyes and saw that Afini’s lightning fist was just mere inches from reaching his face.

Delamu then looked at Afini who was now standing still.

Delamu then realized that Afini was fighting to regain control.

“Afini, please fight it, you are far stronger than this evil power, please brother” said Delamu.

Afini’s eyes widened upon hearing what Delamu said.

Then a spark of blue lightning then appeared in his eyes.

Delamu took that as a sign that Afini, despite the fact that he had been corrupted by dark magic, was still fighting hard to regain control.

The blue sparks then disappeared and then Afini struck Delamu down with another bolt of red lightning.

Delamu, upon being struck by Afini’s red lightning closed his eyes and lost consciousness.

Afini then disappeared with a bolt of red lightning.

In Tari’s room Atoni and Tari finally stopped hugging.

“What’s happening father, I felt the ground shake and then I woke up” said Tari.

Atoni did not know how to answer his daughter’s question.

He couldn’t bring himself to tell her what was going on neither could he look into her eyes and lie to her as well and so he said nothing.

Afini then appeared with a flash of lightning and thunder.

Tari grew scared upon see Afini and hid behind Atoni.

“Don’t be scared my child, he won’t hurt us” said Atoni not knowing that the evil of dark magic had corrupted Afini.

Afini then went to the king and then grabbed him by the neck before lifting him off the ground.

“Storm Maker why are you doing this” asked Atoni shocked and confused as to why Afini was attacking him.

Afini then spoke with the voice of the Dark Sorcerer saying, “You and your family must suffer for all the evil deeds you’ve committed. Misery, pain and death are all you and your family deserve. I will make sure the debt your family owes is paid and it will be paid in pain by spilling your blood and the blood of every single person that belongs to your accursed family”.

The king looked at Afini eyes which glowed red like that of a demon with fear and terror upon hearing what Afini said.

Afini then threw him away to the ground and began to strike him with bolts of red lightning, causing the king to scream in pain.

Afini then stopped striking the king with lightning and brought out his axe.

“Your blood shall stain this axe as I strike you down with it but you will not die, I shall strike over and over again with this axe and you shall scream feeling nothing but excruciating pain and torment. You will scream until you lose your voice as you are force to bare the pain of my axe as I strike you down with it, then I will deliver the final blow to you and my revenge would be complete” said Afini as he raised his axe to strike Atoni down.

Atoni looked at Afini, seeing the nothing but rage and hatred in his glowing red eyes.

Tari froze up in fear and horror as she saw that Afini was about to kill her father.

Atoni turned to his daughter, seeing all fear she had in her eyes as she watched as Afini was about to end his life.

Atoni then turned back to Afini and said, “Please, do what you want to me but spare my daughter’s life, she is just an innocent child”.

Afini then turned Tari and she saw that she was completely terrified.

He then turned back to Atoni.

“Please spare her life, she has done nothing wrong and if you must spill blood let it be mine and mine alone” said Atoni.

Afini then raised his axe, about to strike Atoni down with it.

Atoni closed his eyes and readied himself for death, hoping that Afini will grant his dying wish and spare his daughter.

Afini then drove the axe down to strike Atoni but the axe missed Atoni and hit the ground instead.

Atoni slowly opened his eyes and looked at Afini in shock, wondering why Afini had not killed him.

He then looked at Afini and saw his eyes were no longer glowing red and he had managed to break free from the Dark Sorcerer’s influence.

Afini was moved by the love Atoni had for his daughter and how even though he was about to die begged for him to spare his daughter’s life.

Seeing the love Atoni had for his daughter reminded him of himself and Alaelra and how the both of them cared about their two children Anja and Braiba.

Thinking about the love he had for his family was enough to give him the strength to fight against the Dark Sorcerer’s control and free himself.

The king sighed out of relief upon seeing the Storm Maker was back to his normal self, free from the Dark Sorcerer’s control.

But then the dark magic in Afini began to try and take back control over Afini.

Afini then began to scream in pain as he struggled to fight and maintain control over himself.

Red bolts of lightning flowed through his body as the dark magic tried to take over him

“King, take your daughter and run as fast as you can” said Afini, sensing he was losing the battle of control.

Atoni without a second thought ran to his daughter and dragged her out of the room.

Once they were out of the room Afini summoned a powerful lightning bolt which flew down from the sky above, struck a hole through the palace roof and reached him in the room.

The lightning bolt struck Afini down and caused him to fall down to ground and lose consciousness.

Afini struck himself with a lightning bolt to give the king and his daughter time to escape but his sacrifice might have been in vain as the Dark Sorcerer had already made his way to the castle and was ready to spill blood.
