The Sin's Virtue

Chapter Vita

“Ssh darling, I am here.”

I struggled for getting my voice out but could not manage anything more than just a few muffled cries that sounded pathetic even to my own ears. His hand covered my mouth and stopped me from screaming that could possibly jeopardise his unauthorised arrival here, right into my room.

His hand over my mouth was just like pure hell served to me for a tasting session.

He turned me around and looked right into my soul.

“Now I am going to take my hand off of that little mouth of yours and I would very much like your obedience in return, okay?”

How does he live with himself? How can anyone live with such arrogance for that matter? He smirked as he retrieved his hand and found me just as quiet and calm as he wanted yet I was anything but that from inside. I was not stupid though. By now I was well aware of his capabilities that can bring me to my death if I tried to cross him.

“How are you, my love?” He asked. His way of addressing me made me want to crawl back to my death without any seconds wasted but I know he was not worth that in fact he was not worth anything.

“Rot in hell.” I almost screamed in his face out of spite that he builds inside me.

“Thats my home, love.” He feigned a confused look which made me want to scratch his eyes out. Those deceiving misty balls. I hate them. Only he can make me so violent and I do mot like being this way. I know I am not this. “Besides, I think you are going to like it there, given we are going to be together.”

I scoffed. How delusional is this man huh?

“So, tell me now. How are you?” I shook my head in disbelief.

“You claim to love me but all you do is hurt me and then have the nerve to ask me how am I? Well I am miserable and thats because you are in my life. Do you get it? You are the reason I hate myself for even existing.” I spat out. All the things came rushing to me like someone just unlatched the door I want to keep shut forever.

His face told me that my words were causing him pain, that it physically hurt him to hear that but all I could think about was how he diminishes everything he touches.

Like my sister.

I do not hate myself because he loves me, I hate myself because he is the reason my sister Karen is the way she is. He ruined her. Tortured her out of her mind so that I would kneel down to his wishes. She never sets a foot in this castle because of him and it is all my fault.

“One day Shye, one day you will know what my love for you is.” He said with the most sincere tone I have ever heard from him and it was only seconds after that, he went away.

For good.

It took me more that just a few attempts to open my eyes and blink as I tried to pull away from the scarring memory. I do not know why I dreamt about it. My body felt sour as I tried to sit up and lean against the head board. I massaged my neck as I tried to gather myself.

What happened?

At the cue, the door opened softly and Kian came in with a tray in his hand. It smelled good whatever he was carrying. He let out a sigh and gave me a smile.

“Hey, how are you feeling?” He asked as he came to sit beside me.

“Weak. My limbs are aching and head is buzzing like crazy. What happened?” I asked as I tried to adjust my vision. Its been really bothering me. Everything goes out of focus every few minutes.

“You were lying unconscious when I came in to check on you earlier today. You look fragile.” I felt so too as I looked outside the glass doors that opened to a balcony, everything was dark outside and the cold wind coming in from it was chilling my skin.

“Thank you for taking care of me.” He smiled and placed the tray in my lap.

“Eat.” Giving him a grateful smile, I gladly started devouring all of it.

“You never told Chao was your best friend? You looked really fond of him.” I asked trying to sound as casual as possible. “Where is he anyway?”

“I guess I never got any chance to talk about him.” He shrugged smiling. God I wanted to slap that smile off. “He is down in the hall, waiting for Vita to arrive.”

I frowned. What is with everyone calling top-notch people from hierarchy?

“Why her?”

“She is good friends with him, I suppose. Could be of help considering she is a Creadas. This is our only way at finding Creador.” I hate it when he is right especially when I can not deny that Chao despite his rotten self has contacts which I don’t and it hurts me to see how Kian is never going to see what I want him to.

“How is someone from heaven friends with Chao?” I couldn’t help myself but ask. Chao truly brings out the worst in me.

“What do you mean?” Kian asked, his face unreadable. I shrugged. Let him think whatever he wants to. I am not going to pretend to like Chao just because he is friends with Kian.

“Nothing. Thanks for the food. I feel better.”

“You still look terrible though.”

“Thats encouraging.” I gave him a dead pan.

He took the empty plates and went downstairs. I slowly got out of the bed and went to the balcony despite how cold it was outside.

The dream I had earlier while I was unconscious was bothering me real time. Those were the dark and dead days of my life where I had started to believe that life would never be better again. I did know that he would be out there somewhere and that he would return one day but I guess I always denied it even though my heart knew otherwise.

I do not hate without reason and I hate only one person for that matter. Chao. I would have forgiven him at some point, we do not choose who we fall in love with and how for that matter but I can never forgive him for what he did to Karen. I saw him melting her down to do his biding, he played with her subconscious like it was nothing. He tried to change her virtuousness and I can never ever forget that.

All of a sudden, the gloomy air around me started to clear a bit and I felt a quite light in my body. I could smell the change and knew just who had arrived.

I made my way out of the room, down the hallway. I could hear some greetings exchange with a mixture of a new voice of a female. Her voice had quite the charm to it and I could feel it all the way to here where I stood at the top stair, waiting for them to get settled. I came down into the drawing room and there she was standing beside the window with her back to me and as I entered she turned around.

I looked at her as her soft crystal clear eyes met mine. She was not very tall and looked lively more than any of us. She was glowing and I could feel her joyous vibe under my skin. It made me feel happy too.

I guess thats what you get for being the Life.

“Hello.” I found myself saying to break the silence. “I am Humility.”

“I am Vita.” She smiled politely and came to shake hands with me. It was in her, the ability to be so lively, I could feel it in her hands. She was truly beautiful and intimidating in a good way. I felt a little uncomfortable with how I was looking right now.

Then my eyes met Chao’s as he smirked and I just could not wrap my head around the fact that they were friends. Then again he was best friends with my mate as well so I guess I should just give up on that by now.

All of us settled on the couches and with three of them in the room beside me, there was only one thing I could sense. Power. Just how much of that was right here.

Being sick right now makes me almost the vulnerable one.

“So what is this about?” Vita asked in a curious voice which led me to raise an eyebrow at Kian who shrugged and looked at Chao who to my disgust had no courtesy to look shameful. He asked her to come without telling her why, no doubt she has no clue as why they have summoned her here.

“She needs your help.” Chao pointed to me and the whole attention in the room shifted to me. Great. Remind me to cut his balls off later. He is pushing this too far.

“Uhm actually Chao here suggested to ask for your help and I want to tell you that I am really grateful for you to actually come here.” I said just to test waters. She nodded, smiling but I could tell she was feeling apprehensive and I couldn’t even blame her for that. “I am looking for Creador.”

I actually wanted to laugh at her expression as her eyes flinched so subtly that I thought I imagined it. She looked taken aback and it was hands down justified on her behalf. I am guessing no one in her life has ever asked that question.

“Pardon, my dear?” By now both of her eyebrows were skyrocketing and I could see a millions ways that this could go wrong nonetheless I know this is my only shot at what I want.

“I know this is crazy but its really necessary for me to meet Creador and I know you can help me with that. So please....” I trailed off, unsure of whether I was just digging my own grave. No way this is working in any way.

“I am not sure what to say.” She said, looking uncomfortable and my heart just sank into my chest.

“There must be some way right?” Chao chipped in with a fake serious tone or so I think. Why can’t he just shut up?

She took in a deep breath and looked like she was contemplating her next few words.

“Can I have a word with Humility, alone?” She stressed which almost made me fall down from my seat. Kian gave me a nod and left with Chao on his tail.

“Uhm I don’t meant to offend you, I know how all of this sounds.” I said honestly and there was nothing else I could do about it anyway.

“Its okay. You just caught me off guard but before anything I would really much like to know the reason for the urgency I see in your eyes.” To he honest I felt relieved that she could actually see that it all was a real deal for me.

“The Virtues are missing.” I said sighing. “And I know where they are but their captor would not let them go until he gets to know where the Creador is.”

“Why?” She frowned and looked a little aggravated. Being that close to Creador, she must know where I can find her. More importantly I was not sure whether to tell her the actual reason.

I don’t think that would be very genius.

“All I know is that if I don’t give the whereabouts of Creador to him, he’d kill my sisters and the whole balance would flip upside down. Trust me, my intentions are only genuine.”

She shook her head.

“The thing is....I don’t know where her divine self is.”

Sirens went off in my head.

“What do you mean you don’t know where she is?! You serve her!”

She looked at me with broken eyes.

“And she left us ages ago.”
