The Sin's Virtue

Chapter Turned down

Its been two hours since he had vanished. Where? I do not know. I am not even allowed to know and it makes sense. I am a Virtue, I can’t know about what goes on between Sins, right?

I kept to my room for the first hour because without Pride here, it felt a little unsafe. Weird, I know. Even though its him I should be saving myself from but then he is the only one I can turn to here, as it is.

When it felt a little depressing in there, I sneaked into Pride’s study to look at his collection of books. The one, that had me musing since I laid my eyes on it but all of them were in a language I didn’t understand. They looked other worldly.

So I came out to wait in living room, and here I am, completely out of mind now.

I had been wondering where he is and whether rest of the Sins are with him or not. Of course, they must be with him. Where else they will go?

I stood up and started pacing around.

This is utter waste of time. Its been a day and a half, almost, and I have done nothing. Nothing at all. I have no idea where to start with it. Sloth was right. There is no lead to follow. Is there?

How am I going to find Virtues?

What if I fail to find them?

I will have to go and trace back the mark either ways or else I will die. Honestly, dying is not what I fear but the consequences it will have on Santo and rest of the world will be catastrophic. The Sins will have their subdued powers restored and I don’t want to imagine that.

Every one is oblivious to the obvious mess thats going on. If I don’t find Virtues on time, The Sun will know it.

What will he think of me having a Sin as a mate. Or does he already know?

Would he approve of this?

Will my sisters approve of this once they know about who my mate is?

Pride wasn’t bluffing last night. I don’t know why but I just know and thats why I need to be away from him.

I will make sure what happened today, does not happen again.

I stopped abruptly when I felt a sharp pain shoot up my hands and vanished just as quickly as it arrived.

I exhaled heavily.

What was that?

I was about to resume my pacing around the hall when I felt it again and this time in my legs, it was so intense that I lost all the feeling from my nerves and collapsed on the hard marble floor. It almost broke my knees. I rested my palms on the floor, panting, trying to process what just happened.

Just like my hands, the pain vanished within a few moment, but this time a sharp stinging sensation started in my abdomen and within a few moments, it spread throughout my body like a fire in the wild forests.

My insides burned in agony. It threw me off my balance. My moments ceased completely. My head hit the floor as I fell no more able to bear the pain. My vision blurred before going black all together and I slipped into the darkness.

“Shye.” I heard someone’s voice but it was distant. “Shye!”

I wanted to call back to tell them I was here but my throat felt a little too dry.

“SHYE!” I was shaken so badly that my eyes flew open. It took a few moments to register what was happening. Kian was looking at me with wide worried eyes. The strong smell of Sins which hit my nose told me that others were around me as well. Right on the cue Lust came in the line of my vision.

“Is she dead?” He asked waving his hand infront of my eyes but I was busy in assessing Kian who was giving him a thunderous glare. “Not my fault bro! She isn’t even blinking.”

Kian turned back to me and frowned.

“Are you okay?” I motioned for water to clear my throat. He nodded and asked someone to bring it quickly. “Here.” He placed the rim of glass at my lips and I gulped half of it in one go and coughed a little getting up slowly. “Easy.”

“I am good.” And honestly that pain was gone. I felt really light than before.

“What happened?” Kia asked. He was crouched to my level on the floor where I sat cross legged and noticed that all the others were around me. They all looked funny for some reason.

Maybe it was just my lighheadedness.

“I don’t know. I was here in the hall and fell unconscious.” I told him rubbing my eyes.

“How are you now?” Lust asked me instead. He looked genuinely worried.

“Cool.” I said smiling slightly. “Light.” He grinned showing me a thumbs up.

“Yeah. We reduced the control on our side.” Someone said from behind, I turned around to look at sloth.

“Thank you so much.” I said getting up with the help of Kian who held me as I swayed a little. “It really means a lot.” I said earnestly looking at all.

“Yep. You owe this one to us.” Gluttony said plopping down on the leather sofa with others following him. I nodded.

“Yeah anyways.” Envy said. “What do we do now?” Everyone turned towards me with a questioning look and I turned towards Kian.

“I don’t know.” He said shrugging.

“Thats encouraging.” Wrath said giving him an annoyed look.

“I know right.” Sloth retorted innocently while the others snickered at his obvious motive to push Wrath’s button.

“Shut it Sapphier.” Wrath flipped him off.

Wow they all are real mature.

“Hey Humility.” Envy called for my attention.

“Yeah?”

“When did you find out about the Virtues?” He asked like I hadn’t told them about it. I frowned in confusion.

“Uhm, the day before yesterday?”

“No I mean you said someone wrote you a note..?” He pointed out and I recalled what is said and nodded.

“What about it?”

“Did it have any sender’s name?” Lust asked and I gave him a flat look.

“I wouldn’t be standing here then, right?” I asked.

“Excuse his smart mind, please. It wasn’t on purpose.” Sloth said waving his hand dismissively towards Lust and I coughed under my breath to hide my laugh. Lust glared at Sloth who blowed him a kiss in return and I chuckled no more able to keep it in.

“Something amusing you?” Lust asked raising a brow at me. I shook my head quickly. He rolled his eyes but smiled nonetheless.

“But it must have had a seal on it.” Envy said looking thoughtful returning to the subject on hand. “I mean no letter is circulated around Diverso-Terra without the seal that sure has a symbol on it.”

He is right. Why didn’t I think about that before? It was just in front of my eyes and I never noticed the obvious detail.

“He is right. Do you have that letter with you right now?” I shook my head foreseeing that question. “Where it is?”

“Back in Santo. My office.” I answered kian’s question. “I can bring it here if you want?”

“Can you?”

“Yeah I can just apparate back at my place and bring it here.” I suggested.

“Well no you can’t.” Kian snapped making me flinch. “You aren’t physically fine to do that.” Lust whistled low in his throat and I blushed.

“I can. I feel fine.” I said defending myself. I am not joking. I actually feel like my normal self again.

“I’ll take you there.” Kian said completely disregarding me.

“You will have to inform Río first.” Wrath reminded him. Kian nodded and left the room without another word.

I am not sure if I should follow him or not so I remain standing awkwardly under everyone’s gaze.

“So how is Santo?” I turned to Greed who was looking at me with amusement.

“Really? Thats what you ask?” Sloth chuckled at him which caused his amusement to shift in a blank look.

“Its okay Sapphier. Avarus likes to talk about weather. Aye, Avarus?” Envy joined in the teasing spree.

“Why you-”

“Río is fine with me taking you to the Santo.” We all turned to Kian who appeared all of a sudden. I frowned.

“Why?” I blurted out. He glared at me. I was considering to apologise but all my words got stuck in my mouth when he took steps towards me and before I could protest, he grabbed my hand and everything around us vanished. The last thing I saw was Lust’s face, grinning ear to ear, before free falling into the tornado of colours which danced vibrantly. I felt that pushing feeling shoving me through a pipe on the other side and we landed on something.

I opened my eyes to see the clock tower on the main street of capital. We were in Santo. I looked around frantically and thanked the sun for no one was looking at us. I turned to Kian and glared at him.

“A warning would have been great!” I shouted under my breath to avoid attention.

“Relax. We are here.” He shrugged grinning. I went to say something in response but held my tongue back sighing.

“Just cover your face.” I said instead. He looked at me in question but then nodded understanding my request. He pulled up his hood and I led him in the direction of great circle street where the headquarters of Virtues, as well as my office was.

“Wow everything is so white here.” Kian said looking around. “Not to mention my skin burns in the glare of sun.”

“Want a sunscream?” I asked rolling my eyes.

“Only if you apply it on me yourself.” He winked and I pretended to gag. He frowned and stopped making me falter in my steps as well. I looked at him in question. He came close to me, invading the personal bubble again. “Do that again....”

His voice was low and threatening but I didn’t miss the amusement he felt in that. So I crossed my arms and jutted my chin out at him.

“Or what?” He grinned and that simple action made my stomach flip backwards. I felt so stupid at acknowledging the response. He leaned his head closer to me. His lips an inch away from mine.

“You pay.” My eyes widen when I realised he was about to kiss me and in panic I apparated right in front of him. I was so shocked that I didn’t even realise how I managed to end up in the office. Exactly where I wanted to be.

It took several moments for me to register that I just turned down Kian while he was about to kiss me.

I shoved the scary thought away and focused on the task I came for.

I pulled open every drawer where my stuff was and at last found the very letter I was searching for. It was just as I left it, slightly creased because of how hastily I shoved it in when Marie came to call me that day.

It still had that touch of magic in its matter. The very same that had me on my feet from the moment I touched it.

But there was a problem, I found the letter but I couldn’t find the envelope in which it came, which probably had the seal I must have ignored in my distracted state then, which could undobtably give me a hint to go after.

I looked around, searched and searched when at last I smelled it underneath a stack of paper. I threw all the papers at one side and found it right there glaring at me. I picked it up standing upright to flip its back.

“Gotcha.” I jumped and turned around to meet those lavender eyes. He was grinning but his eyes, they were seething at me.

He looked, betrayed?

“L-look Pri-I mean Kian...”

“Shhh let me think of a way to get back at you.” He said in a tone that shook my nerves.

“Kia-”

“Its time to have some fun Shye.”
