The Shadow Alpha

Chapter CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE

My sleep was broken by the door to the infirmary opening, I heard faint whispers as I tried to will myself from my sleepy haze.

“Shh baby, Aunty Allison is sleeping.” My eyes fluttered open and caught sight of the three of them looking down at Dominic in my arms.

"Aunty Allison is awake.” I smiled and looked at Devin, silently asking him to help me up, which he caught onto without hesitation.

"Aww, you guys are so sweet. Why couldn't you be so sweet when I got out of labour?” Yasmin slapped Oliver on the chest and her daughter giggled.

"Oh Yas, don't give him such a hard time, Devin has had more than enough practice over the last few months.” I laughed as I shuffled up into a sitting position.

“Damn right. By now I know what every look means without her saying a word.” His eyes widened and Yasmin laughed.

“That bad huh?” She grimaced.

“It was worth every moment. Meet Dominic Summer, future Alpha of the Moon Shadow pack.” I stroked my son's fluffy dark brown hair.

“Can I touch him?” Olsin asked sweetly.

"Only if you give me a kiss first.” I leaned forward and Oliver lowered her onto the bed to place a kiss on my cheek.

“He's so small.” She touched his little hand gently, staring at him in pure awe.

Dominic was still deep asleep from his earlier feed and didn’t even seem to notice that he was once again the centre of attention, even though I knew he loved it, even before he was born.

"You were just as tiny when you were born.” She looked up at me with wide eyes.

“Really? I was so small?” She asked like she could hardly believe it.

“Yep, in fact, you were smaller than Dominic is when you were born.”

"Wow." She said fascinatedly and continued stroking his fingers.

“He is adorable, Allison. Congratulations to you both.” Oliver pulled Yasmin closer by the waist and she leaned onto his chest.

“Thank you guys. How was the trip?” Oliver sighed, running fingers through his hair.

“Tiring, the kids aren't used to such long trips. A few hours in and we had a war on our hands. Benjamin and Olsin get along like a house on fire, until they become irritable, then they're like oil and water.” He frowned, looking like he'd been through the worst few hours of his life.

"At least it's over now, how's Sofia?” I smiled.

"She's... quiet. She barely reacted when Olsin tried getting her attention so she eventually stopped and concentrated her energy on Benjamin. Poor Lad.” Oliver shook his head.

“Like father, like daughter.” I teased, “Where are they now?”

"They passed out the moment they entered their rooms, I have a feeling they will be out all night.” Yasmin revealed.

“They were okay with coming here?” Devin just stood by my side, watching Olsin play with Dominic's hair, not saying a word.

“Benjamin looked a little wary, but curious and didn't put up much of a fight when I told him. Sofia wasn't so easy to convince, she didn't want to leave the only place she ever called home, the place connected to her parents, but Yasmin convinced her that she would only be here for a few months and that getting away would do her some good so she eventually agreed, though reluctantly.”

"At least she's here, I'll take it from here.” I vowed. “Did you meet them?” I asked Devin and he shook his head

“They were already inside by the time I got to the packhouse.”

“Will you bring them to me once they have woken up and eaten?” I asked Yasmin, earning a nod from her.

“Do you have a plan?” Oliver asked.

“I wish i could say I do, I'd have to meet her first to know what I'm dealing with.” I pursed my lips. The sun was setting when a knock sounded on the door, Devin had just come back from a run, Dominic was sleeping peacefully in his crib beside the bed.

Yasmin stuck her head in, “Is the coast clear?” I smiled and nodded.

"Hey momma and papa.” She entered, followed by the two kids and lastly, Oliver.

“Hey Yas, I see you have brought us visitors.” I sat up, feeling less in pain than before.

Benjamin was looking around the room in awe while Sophia had her hood on and her head down, "Hi guys, I'm Alpha Allison and this is my mate, Alpha Devin.” I grinned and Benjamin smiled shyly at us, mumbling a soft “hello”.

“Hi.” I heard a whisper, but never saw the girl's face.

“Hello Sophia.” She froze at the mention of her name, but didn’t respond to me, not taking it personally, I turned to Benjamin who was peeping at Dominic from the corner of his eye. “Would you guys like to meet Dominic?” Benjamin perked up and nodded quickly.

I edged myself off the bed, refusing Devin's help when he moved to grab my hand. “I'm okay, Darling, there's a lot less pain now.”

"Are you sure you can stand?” He asked, recalling how shaky I was when I stood up to go to the bathroom earlier.

"Yes, I'm fine.” 1 smiled and turned back to the kids. “You can come closer, we don't bite.” Sophia was a lot more reluctant than Benjamin, but came closer anyway.

“Benjamin, Sophia, meet Dominic, our son.” Benjamin looked awed by him, opting to watch him from his position. Sophia on the other hand, stepped closer and reached out to the crib before pulling her hand away.

“You can touch him.” I soothed, leaning into Devin.

She reached forward and placed her finger beneath his hand and much to my surprise, his eyes opened sleepily. She was about to pull her hand back, but he grabbed hold of her hand and stared at her silently.

“He likes you.” I laughed softly, noticing the particular liking he took to girls.

Sophia's head shot up at the mention of the word and both Devin and I were taken aback.

Her glowing white skin and striking hazel eyes threw us off before we composed ourselves again. She was a splitting image of Mother Selene and I was left staring in awe.
