The Shadow Alpha

Chapter CHAPTER NINE

As time went on, we grew closer as a family. Their sudden arrival was a huge shock to the whole pack, but nevertheless they trusted me and welcomed my family with open arms.

Ana or Princess- as I refer to Tatiana, is a little mini me. She was over the moon with excitement when our parents introduced me as her sister and while she may not have understood the situation, she was never hesitant in showing me all her love.

As of late, other packs around us have been reporting increased rogue activity. We have since increased the guard around the borders and made training compulsory for every male and female wolf between the ages of fifteen and forty.

My appointed board which consisted of Papa Jamie, Jacob, Dristan and recently, my father and I have come up with a functional action plan if a rogue attack were to occur. We are hoping that it doesn’t come to that, but should it ever, we want to be ready.

We were trying to pinpoint the rogue settlement to be able to assess which surrounding packs would be most at risk, we have a hunch that there is more than one rogue settlement and so far we have only found one possible location. The plan is to pinpoint all the possible areas and stake them out at once, we will plan our next move once we are able to track them. All of us were hunched over the large map of the surrounding packs within a seven hundred mile radius; the reported rogue activity came primarily from packs within this area and a few outside.

We were discussing a common area just outside California when my office phone rang. Jake being the closest, answered and put it on the loud speaker.

"Good Morning, is this the Alpha of Blue Moon Pack?” a voice echoed as it bounced off the soundproof walls of my office.

I froze, my thoughts came to a halt in my mind as I stared at the phone like it would suddenly come alive.

Noticing my frozen state, Jake cleared his throat and spoke up, “No, you're speaking to Jacob- Beta of the Blue Moon Pack. What can I do for you?” his voice was stern, I could feel the unease rolling off him, no doubt due to my own frozen state.

“This is Alpha Devin Summers of the Full Moon Pack; I have called to ask for your assistance.” Everyone in the room's face turned dangerous and Jake made to cut off the call, but I grabbed his hand, snapping from my trance.

“Ask him for what." I mind linked him using my Alpha tone knowing full well that if I didn’t he would argue or fight. His eyes narrowed, but he didn't dare question my authority.

"What kind of assistance?” there was a brief pause which was probably out of confusion at Jake's tone.

"Our pack was attacked last night by a large group of rogues, there were few fatalities but many wolves were badly injured. During the attack our pack house and many if not all surrounding houses of pack members were destroyed. My pack is in shambles and our borders have been left unguarded, I fear another attack. The 130 pack members that survived need shelter and safety urgently.” By the identical looks on their faces I could that they were not even considering the idea of helping him.

They might have been the worst pack to me and made a lot of my life difficult but as The Shadow wolf, it is my duty to serve and protect my fellow wolves.

I stepped closer and put the call hold and looked at the guy's furious faces.

“NO! Absolutely not, Allison!” Papa Jamie warned, shaking his head; I looked into their eyes and saw fear and anger for me.

I sighed loudly, “Guys... Mother Selene bestowed me with the honour of being the Shadow Wolf; it is my duty to assist and protect any and all werewolves.” They sighed in annoyance,

“I am stronger now, I have all of you helping me and supporting me. I am no longer that little vulnerable girl, I am the strongest alpha in the world and I have the best family a girl could ask for. I have forgiven them and moved on; I need you guys to do the same.” I saw their defeated looks and knew they saw it from my perspective.

“Good. It should take them five hours to travel and reach our borders, tell them that we will meet them at the south border at 4pm this afternoon. That gives them nine hours to round up the pack and the rest of their belongings and reach here.” I said leaving no room for argument, Jake nodded and unmuted the phone.

"We have discussed it with the Alpha and come to a decision. You will have nine hours to get your pack to the south border of the Blue Moon territory, we will meet you there at 4pm this afternoon, understand?” his voice held authority and although he was a Beta, he was a strong one.

Devin agreed immediately and the call was cut.

“Well it looks like we have 130 new guests arriving soon, put away the map and gather in the backyard for a pack meeting.” They all nodded and dispersed.

“Everyone gather in the backyard of the pack house in one hour, I expect everyone present with the only exception being the patrol.’ I ordered through mind link and a chorus of “Yes Alphas’ were heard.

I sat at my now clean table and began making a list of tasks that need to be carried out for their arrival. After Connor and Bradley left the office the four guys sat down in front of me.

“Allison, we are not happy about this arrangement, but you were right we cannot allow our personal feelings to cloud our judgement on what is right. I'm not saying we will welcome them with smiles and open arms but we will be civil. I will say however, a single bad word and I will deal with them, okay?” Papa Jamie demanded using his Alpha tone which only made me smile, I nodded much to their satisfaction.

“I'm not planning on giving them a red carpet welcome myself; we will do what we have to do and that is it.” They nodded and stood to leave my office.

I stood on the stage in front of the whole pack; everyone was present and whispering among themselves wondering why I called the sudden meeting

"Good morning everyone.” I waited a few seconds for complete silence before continuing.

"You are all aware of the increasing Rogue problem that packs around the continent are currently experiencing. Last night a pack South of our border was attacked and as a result, their homes were destroyed.

“They have called on us for assistance in providing shelter and safety for the remaining pack members and we have accepted to help them. It is our duty as a pack wolves to protect our freedom and way of life.

For now however, we must prepare for their arrival. I have made a list of tasks that must be completed that includes cleaning out the other pack house and any remaining rooms in the main pack house. There should be more than enough space for everyone. We will also need more help in the kitchen to prepare dinner tonight, both kitchens will be used to accommodate for the increase in population. Once they have arrived and settled in we will have another pack meeting in which everyone can meet the other pack and a new schedule of duties will be created once they have settled in, I don't know how long they will be staying, but that is not off importance now. If everyone could write their names down on a list and join the respective group, I have allocated a leader for each group, so look out. Any questions?”

I saw Joey's hand raise and I nodded for him to continue, “What pack are we expecting, Alpha?" There it is, the question I had been dreading. My whole pack is aware of my past so they would know exactly who I'm talking about.

“Many of you will not like this, but if you have any issues or complaints I would like you to direct them to me personally. I have made up my mind and I expect full cooperation. We are expecting the Full Moon Pack.” The crowd erupted in growls and whispers. It warmed my heart to see their love and fierce need to protect me, but this had to be done.

“Quiet down! Please do not fight me on this, I know it is not ideal, but please trust me. Now if you will get on with the tasks. Thank you all.” I closed and stepped off the stage.

A group formed around me quickly, “Allison, we are going along with this, because it is the right thing to do and because you have requested it as our friend and Alpha, but please don't expect us to be friendly towards them.” Taylor exclaimed.

She and I have become close in the past four years, she has since changed, she has taken the time to mourn her mate properly and she is in a better space mentally, I am so proud of the progress she has made. I know she still loves and misses him but she has been able to accept it in a mature way. "Guys I don't expect that of you. All I ask is civility.” They shared a look, but nodded a confirmation. “Now go join a group and get to work!” they immediately dispersed to the different groups where orders were already being given out. For the next seven hours the pack worked tirelessly preparing for the arrival of the Full Moon Pack.

Many pack members came to me and voiced their concerns and I tried my best to set their minds at ease and assured them that I would protect them and myself. Things were different now and I wasn't insecure about their arrival.

Before we left to go meet them I took a quick shower and threw on a pair of tight black skinny jeans, a white tank top, white four inch platform stilettos and my favourite black leather jacket.

I walked out of the pack house and joined the group I'd asked to accompany me to the border, which consisted of my Beta and Thetha, Papa Jamie and a few pack warriors.

They all stared at me as I walked out of the house just as all the other pack members that I passed had. I knew for a fact that I looked sexy and it helped a lot to calm my inner turmoil, I needed the upper hand and this would definitely give it to me.

“You guys go ahead, I will follow shortly.” They nodded and climbed into their cars to make the drive; some warriors shifted into wolf form and took off into the woods in the direction of the South border.

After checking that everything was in order for their arrival, I left for the place where my past and present were about to collide.
