Chapter CHAPTER FOURTEEN
~Dream-~
I took in the familiar surroundings with confusion; I was standing in the meadow under the huge Willow tree behind the cement bench that over looked the Northern Border of the Blue Moon Pack territory.
Two contrasting figures occupied the bench before me, by the silver moonlike glow of her beautiful, waist long hair I knew that it was Mother Selene, the person seated next to her however, had a mop of dark brown hair that was just begging me to run my fingers through to feel its softness.
“Who are you?” the boy asked and my suspicions were confirmed, I'd know that voice anywhere.
“I am the Goddess Selene; you may call me Mother Selene.” She answered him in the same way she did me the first time I sat across from her the way he was right now.
“Mother... how is this possible?” he asked in awe earning a soft smile from her.
“It is possible, because I make it possible. I have come to ask a favour of you, Devin.” he stared at her with curiosity burning in his grey eyes.
“You will find your mate soon-" his eyes lit up and a grin settled on his face, “I have come to ask you to reject her.” his smile dropped in a millisecond and was replaced by a bewildered look.
"What! Why would I do that?” he asked as if she was crazy. She placed her delicate hand on his and squeezed soothingly, he was powerless against her comfort and his tense state loosened up instantly.
“One day you will understand why I have asked this of you and when the time is right you will meet again. You must trust me my child. Set her free.” She said softly and he got a defeated look in his eyes that made me gasp.
Just like that the scene faded away before he could answer.
~End of Dream~
I woke with a start, panting for breath with my body was drenched in sweat.
What was that all about?
Why did I have that dream?
Was it true?
Did she really ask him to reject me?
Every question that ran through my mind was left unanswered, but they never stopped.
Would he have accepted me had she not asked him to reject me instead?
What would life have been like had she not asked that of him?
Was this dream even real or was it my mind cooking up a scenario based on his sudden appearance in my life?
I laid there thinking, every question confusing me more than the last. I tried to make sense of it all, but no avail and after a long while I attempted to fall asleep again, but sleep wouldn't take me. Heaving a heavy sigh I stood up, deciding to visit the infirmary and check on our guests. I brushed my teeth and took a quick shower to wash away the lack of sleep before walking down to the infirmary that was situated behind the pack house.
I poked my head into each room and smiled at the sight of my Beta and Theta sleeping peacefully on chairs beside their mates.
It was still dark, but there would be a nurse on duty so I walked to the nurses’ office without checking on our third guest, I was surprised to find Lexi seated on the couch with her head buried in a book.
“Lexi?” her head snapped up and her eyes widened at the sight of me in the doorway. She shot up from her seat, threw the book down and rushed to my side.
"What are you doing down here at this time? Are you okay, are you hurt?” she panicked, but calmed down when I gave her a small smile,
“I'm fine, just couldn't sleep so I decided to come down and check on them.” she was about to reply but I cut her off when I heard a startled gasp from one of the other rooms, I placed my hand over my lips in a “shh’ manner and gestured for her to follow me.
We walked down the hallway allowing my heightened senses to guide me in the direction of the laboured breathing that followed after the gasp; the sound was coming from the room of the older woman who killed the rogue.
I pushed the door open and stared at the extremely pale woman who stared at me with wide grey eyes. Her knees were being hugged tightly to her chest and her eyes held fear and apprehension. "Good morning.” She continued to stare at me watching every step that I took. I stopped at the right hand side of the bed and sent her my warmest smile that caused her to visibly relax; she continued to watch me as I took a seat on the chair beside her bed.
“You saved us?” She observed more than asked, but I nodded anyway.
“My name is Allison Trust; the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack. This is my pack infirmary that you're in.” Her eyes widened at my words.
“Thank you Alpha.” She bowed her head in respect, making me smile and nod in acknowledgement. “I need you to answer a few questions for me, can you do that?” I asked in a soothing voice and she agreed.
"What is your name?” she hesitated before answering, but did so nevertheless
“Tatiana Grace.” She whispered in a raspy voice.
I smiled, “That is a beautiful name; my little sister's name is also Tatiana.” her eyes lit up and glazed over slightly.
“Pardon my intrusion Alpha, but what did you say was your last name?” Tatiana asked with her eyes furrowed.
“Trust, why?” my eyes narrowed.
"You wouldn't happen to know a couple by the name's Asher and Hannah?" my eyes widened at the mention of my parent's names.
“They're my parents.” I said and she gasped, putting a hand to her mouth.
"How is that even possible? I didn't know that Asher and Hannah were of Alpha descent.”
“They aren't, at the age of sixteen I was adopted by the Alpha of the Blue Moon pack, Jamie Wells. When he retired, I took over as Alpha. How do you even know my parents?”
“We were in the rogue camp together till they escaped a few months ago.” She revealed much to my amazement.
“My Ana is named after you, isn't she?” She chuckled, her cheeks growing slightly red.
“Yes, indeed she is.” I smiled at her embarrassment.
“I have heard much about you, Tatiana. It is such an honour to finally meet you; I cannot express how glad I am that you were able to escape that horrid place.” She shook her head sadly.
“I had no idea that Hannah and Asher had kids, you must have been very young when they were captured.” I nodded
"Yes, but I suppose that's a story for another day, for no I would like to know how you managed to escape?”
“I am thankful that we were able to get away from there, though if it weren't for you we probably wouldn't have been successful this time so thank you. How are the girls?” She asked, concern shining brightly in her eyes.
“They are just fine. They have not yet woken up, but their mates are with them so you have nothing to worry about.” a frown formed on her face.
“Mates? They don't have mates.” I chuckled and shook my head
“They didn't before, but now they do. My Beta and Theta to be exact.” She sighed in relief and sent me a small smile.
“Rosie and Lilly are identical twins, they were kidnapped at a very young age and brought to the rogue prison, they practically grew up there.” she spoke of them with fondness in her eyes like that of a mother speaking of her daughters.
“I don't understand, why do they kidnap innocent women and children, why did they kidnap my parents and simply keep them there?” she sent me a sad look and tears welled in her eyes.
“The girls are both of Alpha descent; they used their blood to develop a potion mixed with wolfsbane to mask their scents.” A look of anger crossed her face as she thought about the prison, “As for your parents, I honestly have no idea what the motive behind their kidnapping was.”
"What about you?” I asked curiously, the tears that she had been so strongly holding back fell from her eyes and made its way down her cheeks before she could catch them.
“I wasn't kidnapped, I was handed over.” she whispered sadly.
