The Secrets of the Panther

Chapter 68

IZZY

I open my eyes and look at the ceiling.

I blink a few times. I adjust my head to the side and see I am in a small room. It looks like a hospital room. I notice a few clothes stacked on the chair to the side. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I move my head to the other side, and the sight before me catches me in the heart.

I can feel Puna stir inside and look at what I’m staring at; she has a big smile on her face. “Mate and pup look so cute together.”

I can’t help but agree with her. “I know.”

I stare at them. Allie is in Blake’s arms with a blanket covering both of them. But Blake is leaning back. I stare at him; I can’t help but stare at how handsome he looks.

Puna smirks. “I assume you are admiring, mate,” she says.

“Really,” I say to her, but she laughs. “Izzy, you are ready for him. The sight of the two of them is alone to make you realize he is a good protector for our pup, and he loves her too.”

I look back, but before I can say anything back to her. Blake startles and jumps suddenly; he immediately looks at Allie to make sure he didn’t wake her up.

But his eyes look around the room, but they land on me. He looks at me in shock. “Izzy,” he says in a whisper.

I stare back. I can’t help but smile. “Mate,” I say to him.

Blake smiles and moves, but looks down at Allie. He looks back at me. “I am so happy you are awake; you had loads of people worried,” he says. “How are you feeling?”

I smile at him. “I’m good,” I say. “I built up all the power I had to take him out.”

He nods but smiles. “It was something to watch,” he says. “You killed him and all the other vampires, too.”

I nod, but something comes back to me. The dream I had with my mum, Clara, Selene, and Hecate. Was it real?

“It was,” says Puna, looking at me. “We need to kill a witch.”

I couldn’t help the growl slip through my mouth, which startles Blake and Allie, who stir.

I look back and sink back into the bed.

Blake looks back at me, worried. “What’s wrong?” He asks.

I look at him for a second, but Puna looks at me. “Tell him what they told us,” she says. “He will believe you.”

I sigh. “I think I had a dream when I was resting. I mean like a dream state,” I say. “Four women met me in a gorgeous garden I have ever seen.”

Blake stares back. “Who was there in the dream?” He asks softly.

“Hecate, the god of the witches, my mum, a woman named Selene, and another named Clara,” I said. “They told me we are in danger, and we have a vampire that will come to destroy us all, with the help of that Elder but also the witch too.”

Blake stares back, looking slightly stunned. “Selene,” he says, “You mean the Moon Goddess herself.”

I nod. “She told me she was the mother of werewolves.”

He looks at me, and his face doesn’t say much, but suddenly “I believe you, Izzy,” he says, moving with Allie in his arms to sit on the edge of the bed. He places Allie next to me, wrapping her little arm around me.

I couldn’t help the love sweep in for her; Blake sits beside my leg and is close to Allie. He looks at me with a smile. “I am so happy that you are here with me,” he says, placing his hand in mine, sending sparks blazing through us.

I look back at him with wide eyes, but he has a wide grin. “You felt that too, didn’t you?” He asks.

I nod. I couldn’t say anything as I am afraid of what will come out of it.

“What did they tell Izzy?” He asks me suddenly, “When we came to save you, well, try to, the pack was under attack by rogues and vampires.”

I cock my head to the side. “Why would they do that?” I ask, feeling slightly confused, but Clara said something that was stuck in my head.

Before Blake could answer my question, “Is that witch here?” I ask him.

He nods. “She is in the next room; she is not looking good. She smells of death. I think she will...” he says, but I cut him off. “Blake, we need to see her now; ask for Dale and Lena to come here, have my auntie here to watch Allie now. We don’t have time.”

He looks at me, taken aback. “Izzy, what you on about?” He asks.

I tell everything that Clara, Selene, and Hecate told me. I left everything my mother said to me, as it was not the time for that.

After telling him, Blake looks pissed. His face goes blank as he mind links everyone I mentioned.

After mind-linking everyone, “Kat’s panther came forward to tell me about the prophecy, but it was not like you described,” he says, “Your powers are very rare then.”

I nod. “Yeah, they are; all my emotions surround them. They flare up when I am angry and even rage; it is hard to describe, but when I hold back every ounce of energy, it is life lava ready to explode from a volcano.”

I look down at Allie. “The vampire will come for her; he thinks she has the power, too, as we both look so much like Clara,” I say.

Blake growls lowly, “He will never get to her; I will kill him.” But remembering what Clara said about her mate, sacrificing himself to protect her. I don’t want Blake to do that for me. He needs to be there for Allie.

Blake’s hand has been in mine since he sat down; I squeezed him slightly. He looks at me with a smile but seems concerned when he sees my face. “Blake, can you promise me something?” I ask him.

He looks at me. “Anything,” he says.

I look at him. “Promise me you won’t try to kill the vampire. I have to. I can do it, and you know it. But also want you to protect Allie more,” I say to him.

He shakes his head. “No can do, babe,” he says, “I am fighting alongside you; Axel and I will be by your side all the way. My mother and Anita are looking after Allie when it starts.”

I shake my head. “No, I can’t have you there,” I say.

Blake looks back at me. “Izzy, why?” He says, “I want to be...”

I growl. “I DON’T WANT YOU TO SACRIFICE YOURSELF FOR ME,” I shout at him.

He looks at me, taken aback. “Izzy....” he says, but I shake my head. “I can’t have you sacrifice yourself; you must be here with Allie. She will need you. I know we are mates, and I want that, but I want you to promise me that when that vampire comes, you will let me kill him,” I say. “I need to.”

Blake looks at me, but suddenly he stands up. He moves closer to me and places his hand on the rail behind my head, and hovers over me with his face closer to me. I can smell his scent, which takes hold of me; his mouth is close to mine.

I can’t help but lick my lips, as it seems like my mouth is so dry right now.

Blake looks over my face, and his other hand comes to my chin, but his thumb rubs gently over it. “Izzy, I will fight alongside you,” he says, staring at me. “I won’t promise anything but one thing. I will promise. I will let you kill that vampire.”

His eyes flicker to my lips, and he moves his eyes again to mine. “I promise I will protect Allie, but Izzy. You will not die on me. I will be by your side every step of the way.”

God damn, is it hot in here?

I can feel my blood boil under his touch on my chin.

His eyes go back to my lips, but this time he descends and places his lips on mine.

He kisses me softly; I can’t help but close my eyes as I feel all tingles.

But suddenly, he moves away from me, placing his head on mine, and stares back at me. “Damn,” he says. “I really...” he says, but someone clears their throat behind him.

Blake moves slightly, and we both stare back at Kat, Dale, Lena, Alice, and Kacey, who all have stupid smirks on their faces.

But the little voice from my side caught me off guard. “Mummy and Daddy were kissing,” she says in the happiest voice I ever heard.

I look down at her; wait, did she call Blake Daddy?

Allie places her hand on my face. “Mummy, I have a daddy now,” she says as she looks over her shoulder at Blake, who has a massive smile on his face. Allie turns back to me with a smile. “We are a family,” she says.
