Chapter Clothes Make the Wolf
I got dressed and headed into the kitchen, after only a brief stop at the bathroom to empty my bladder.
My bro took one look at me and teased, "Well, good morning sunshine."
I snapped back, "If you want sunshine, look outside, there's plenty of that crap there."
"I knew I shouldn't have told you about the Luna meeting."
I growled, "Just try to surprise me about that kind of crap, and there'll be one less Beta looking for a mate."
"Damned if I do, damned if I don't." He quipped, "That's the story of my life."
I rolled my eyes. "Can't I just stay in training all day? I'm actually looking forward to that part of my day."
"I doubt it. The trainer already had to move things around to give you a private lesson." My bro informed me, "Since you're the only wolf around who needs a beginner lesson."
I grumbled, "Great, the trainer is going to hate me before he even meets me."
"Females get trained by females."
I groaned loudly. "Maybe I'm not looking forward to it after all."
"You'll do fine." He assured me.
I doubted him, but I didn't feel like having this discussion anymore. Instead I grabbed a plate and filled it with eggs, bacon and sausage. Then I ate until my stomach felt ready to burst.
When my bro finished eating I reluctantly followed him to his car. Maybe shopping wouldn't be bad, but I sure wasn't excited about the last part of my day, and now I was nervous about the middle too.
The pain in my side as we left the drive was barely noticeable, my mind was elsewhere.
We pulled up to a clothing shop called Wolf Wear, it had a cute paw print in the middle of the words, and a smiling cartoon wolf pup below.
A cheerful older woman met us at the door and grabbed me by the shoulders. "You must be the new Luna everyone is talking about."
"Just call me DoJo." I told her.
She shook her head. "I'm not in your pack, or high enough ranked for that."
"I have no pack, unless two wolves suddenly constitutes a pack, and I say you can." I replied firmly, with a smile.
"My Luna could punish me." She whispered.
I narrowed my eyes. A flash of silver shined off a nearby mirror. Some of her assistants gasped. I decided there and then that I didn't care much for werewolf rules, but chose to keep it to myself.
I quickly turned my eyes back to the blue eyes with flecks of green that I'd seen in the mirror all my life. Then I replied, "I guess I'll just have to get used to being called Luna DoJo."
My bro took a seat in the waiting area that separated the men and women's clothing. The seamstress, named Jasmine, took me to the lady's side. I took one look at the dresses, blouses, skirts and lady pants hanging around the room and declared, "This isn't going to work for me."
Jasmine smiled weakly. "We haven't even started the process yet. This room is for the common wolves. Once we get all your measurements we'll show you the Luna room, and get you into something proper, even if I have to make it for you."
I groaned as I was pulled onto a small platform. The look she gave my current outfit told me I wasn't going to like looking proper. Her assistants quickly measured me.
Jasmine asked, "Would you like privacy to change?"
"Change what?" I asked, genuinely confused.
"Forms." She replied, "Most wolves don't like others watching the process."
I rolled my eyes. Less than three seconds later I was my silver wolf, with my clothes shredded and lying around me like confetti. Three gasps filled the air, just before two thunking noises alerted everyone to two bodies hitting the floor.
I turned to Jasmine. She had grabbed the back of a nearby chair to keep from falling over. My bro had rushed to the door to see what the commotion was, and was being restrained by two large guards. I mind linked him, "Guessing these measurements are going to take longer, she lost her assistants."
He laughed and repeated my thoughts.
Jasmine straightened herself while shoeing him away from the door. "Not much longer, I'll handle them myself." She assured me and then whispered, "It's amazing you can link your Beta with no Alpha to connect you."
As she measured her assistants woke up and got to their feet as quickly as possible. I could sense how nervous they were, so I stayed as still as possible.
Eventually I was allowed to return to my human form, and given a plush robe to wear. It was the softest thing I'd ever had draped over my body, and I adored feeling cuddled inside.
While her assistants put my measurements in her computer I asked Jasmine, "How does your clothing work?"
She beamed with pride and answered, "It's made of a special fabric that when not stretched appears like any other clothes, but as your size expands it stretches out, allowing your fur to penetrate, and thus cover any trace of it, so nobody sees a wolf wearing clothes and starts asking questions. When you return to your human form it will shrink with you and show no signs of having been stretched."
I admitted, "I like the idea of not having to strip or wreck my clothing, not a fan of public nudity."
She laughed. "These days wolves get to choose between the old way or having my fashion."
An assistant nervously approached Jasmine and gave her a slip of paper. She looked at it briefly as the assistant stepped back. Then she cleared her throat and anxiously announced, " I'm afraid that there's nothing in the Luna wardrobe that will fit your human or wolf form. It will take me a few days to make even the small wardrobe that's been requested. If you take a look at the Luna room and pick out some designs I'll get to work on them immediately, and try to have you an outfit by tonight."
I looked around the room. "There's nothing here I want to wear."
Her other assistant opened a door. "The Luna lines are in here."
I walked to the door. Everything was sexy, shiny, both, or business power suits. I wanted even less to do with anything in that room. I immediately turned around without setting one foot in there. I went straight to Jasmine and stated,. "Let's make this simple. If I were a male, would you have clothes for me?"
She lowered her head. "Yes." She whispered, "You're somewhere around the size of a medium to large Alpha."
"Great!" I declared and headed towards the waiting room, so I could go to the men's side.
"You can't!" She called behind me.
I reached the waiting room.
My bro looked at me in the robe, a little too amused, and asked, "Is something wrong?"
"No." I answered, "I just need to get to the clothes I'll actually wear."
The two large guards now stood in front of the door to the men's side. One stated, "Only males can enter here."
I growled. Then I took a deep breath and turned to Jasmine. "Do you know what size I would wear if I were a male? Keep in mind, I like my shirts a little baggy."
"The computer can certainly calculate it quickly." She replied.
I turned to my bro, using my dominant Luna voice I exclaimed, " Mitchell, you know my taste. You are to take my size information and find me four outfits, and a pack, then bring them back here, so I can go get dressed."
He stood instantly, and did a slight bow. "Yes my Luna." He replied.
No one in the store outranked him, much less me. They couldn't expect him to deny my order, not with the show we just put on. It took less than two minutes for him to be handed a slip with my sizes. He took it and immediately disappeared into the men's side.
It was almost twenty uncomfortable minutes before he reappeared with an armload, and handed it off to me. I turned and went directly to a changing room. There I put on some boxer briefs, followed by a black pair of cargo shorts, a green t-shirt, a camouflage hat, some socks, and a black pair of minimalist shoes. I quickly shoved everything else in the pack. Then I went to the warriors section of the women's side and grabbed a sports bra, it was black and silver and had a front zipper. I removed the tag, and put the bra on without bothering to remove the shirt or returning to the dressing room.
I promptly picked up the pack and went to the waiting area, handing my bro the tag for the bra. He paid for everything, trying not to smirk the whole time.
I left the pack with him as I returned to the shredded remains of my human clothes and grabbed my wallet, knife and keys.
Jasmine was anxiously standing by me. "What about the new moon ball?"
"What about it?" I replied angrily.
She stuttered, "You, you're the mm main attraction, y y you can't possibly go like th th that."
"Won't I be in wolf form most of the time anyway?" I inquired.
"Possibly, but probably not." She stated, "And when you're not you need to be dressed appropriately."
"Define appropriate." I snapped.
"Something that won't get me into trouble with my Luna." She answered.
I groaned and pinched my nose. I might be strong willed, and even a little defiant, but I couldn't very well have someone else getting punished for my choices. "I'll tell you what." I compromised, "You design me something that's fit for a Luna, but not skin tight or sexy, and I'll have my Beta pick it up. If I don't wear it it's not your fault, after all I hate dresses."
She nodded her head slowly, I could tell her brain was trying to figure out what would work. "I'll do my best to make you happy."
I smiled sweetly. "Now, I have training to get to."
She nodded again and stepped out of my way.
I went to the waiting area where my bro was already holding my new pack and walking towards the exit. I followed him out without another word.
