SWNOVELS Chapter He remembered
Ch 2
Killian pov
Sitting with Jessara, Tanook and Tessa while we finish the last of the coronation plans when we are interrupted by Mila running in.
“The spell wore off and he knows! He is loading up some of his men to head this way!”
“Shit! Tanook, get all the guards we have here ready for a fight!”
“I will meet with the guards to figure out what we can do and set up perimeters.”
I quickly grab Jessara’s hand to go look for Rikar and Cora. We have to warn them and let them know what will be going on. We mind link Rikar and they are in his office doing paperwork. We go running down the hallway to his office and when we walk in they both look up.
“We have a problem! Your dad is on his way with some men since the spell has worn off. We hoped it would happen after the coronation but it didn’t. We need you two to hide. As long as he doesn’t have you he can’t do anything.”
“No dad! I will not hide from him any more! You promised my grandfather you would keep me safe until the time came. You and mom stepped up to the plate and did an awesome job! Even gave me siblings so I wasn’t alone. Made me into the man I’m today and the King I’m about to be crowned in a few days. I know what I can do and what I am capable of! He does not, so let him find out!”
Jessara starts to tear up “Rikar if anything happens to you!”
“Mom I’ll be fine! I promise. Do get Cora underground since we have found out she is expecting the next heir to the throne. She must be kept safe at all costs.”
Cora quickly runs with Jessara towards the underground bunker followed by guards when we get a mind link from Tanook and Jakar that we are under attack from all sides of the castle. We spring into action and right when we head outside we can see fighting wolves everywhere. We quickly shift and start ripping through enemies when I’m mind linked that Cora and Jessara are safe in the bunker with guards posted outside.
After a few minutes we see the wolves retreat and run past a big black wolf. I watch it shift and see that its Matecor. The smirk that is plastered on his face just sets me off!
“I will be back when you least expect it, lycan! I will take my rightful place and have that wolf trash standing right next to me! Better yet maybe sitting on my lap while I’m on the throne!”
He quickly shifts and runs off while our guards take off after to try and catch him. But this attack has left us depleted of what we have here for manpower. The rest are at local packs helping with training, and were supposed to come home the day before the coronation. I quickly mind link that they need to come back now, we have been attacked. I also know it will take some time for them to pack and be on their way which will take at least a day if not two or three.
Rikar and I make our rounds and see we have lost about 25 guards while another 50 are injured somehow. We still have about 50 here but it puts us in a huge bind. If we get attacked before the rest of the royal army arrives, I don’t think we can make it and survive. I beg Rikar to go underground until we get the armies here. Make sure no matter what happens we keep the throne in the right hands.
“No dad, I have to protect the palace. This is the job that I have been put here for. Let’s just regroup and figure out who we can get here as fast as possible. Our armies will be on their way, but can we get help from packs until that time?”
My dad nods and we run back to the palace to start making phone calls. Our lycans are powerful in themselves but not when we are outnumbered.
We run back into the palace and meet with Tonook and Jakar to get the rundown on where we are at. We have the medical teams working on the injured quickly and putting them back out as the second line of defense. Those uninjured are now our first line of defense. We grab phones and start making phone calls but with those that can send help it will be some time. Two to three days before they can get here. We sit chatting when the door opens and Jessara and Cora come running in.
Jessara jumps in my arms and I just hold her. I know this is going to be a battle but no matter what we need the coronation to happen. Once it goes through then Matecor will have no claim. Once Rikar takes his place Matecor can be charged with treason against the crown, and Rikar can carry out his sentence. If need be I wonder if we can get it done early in secret, but still have the ceremony as a ruse? Then when he shows up Rikar can finish him.
As we decide on schedules and patrols the staff bring in dinner for us to eat while we go over plans. How things will go if we are attacked again. We hope beyond anything we can get enough people here to protect us in case we are hit again. If they attack we will have one hell of a fight to keep them away. What if Matecor gets Jessara? We have to keep Cora protected but at what cost will that come to?
We know Rikar has powers, but we have to preserve them. We can’t let the secret out until we absolutely need to use it. He knows he will have to use it to protect the kingdom. I just hope we get it done quicker than later for the kingdom’s sake.
