The Rise of Dragon Temple By Wu Xia

Chapter 24

Chapter 24
By seven o’clock in the evening, it was still raining in Oplen, albeit much lighter than before. At the hotel entrance, Chloe was still
waiting there. She seemed slightly fatigued, and the sky was already dark. Paige persuaded her many times to return to the
room, but Chloe refused to listen to her. Looking at the dark rainy night outside, she was in a daze, thinking that her father would
appear the next moment... “Chloe, it’s already seven o’clock. Let’s eat...” Paige sighed at the sight of how much Chloe yearned
for her father. Noticing her daughter’s expectant gaze, she felt sorry deep down. Chloe was already sensible since she was three
years old. In the restaurant where Paige worked previously, she often silently looked at other children with fathers accompanying
them. At the time, her eyes were full of envy and yearning. Nonetheless, she had never bugged Paige about it, as Paige once
told her that her father worked in a distant country. Hence, they could not disturb Joseph. “Mom, you should eat first. I feel that
Dad will be back soon. I will wait for him to join us for dinner...” Chloe shook her head, turned to Paige with a smile, and then
stared outside again. “Chloe, didn’t the man from earlier say that your father won’t be back today? At the earliest, he’ll only be
back in two days. Why don’t you come inside to join me for dinner...” Paige continued to persuade Chloe. Chloe shook her head
and stubbornly refused, “No, I can sense that Dad will come back today. I have good instincts... I’ll wait for Dad to have instant
noodles together, which is my favorite food. He will come back tonight, and I’ll offer him eggs as well. That way, Dad will never
leave once he is full, right? Mom...” Paige’s body trembled while starting to tear up. The next moment, she hurriedly turned
around because she did not want her daughter to see her crying. “Joseph, did you hear that? Your daughter’s biggest wish is
that you can stay by her side. All this while, Chloe was sensible enough to suppress her thoughts in front of me until your
appearance last night. You must come back safely!” Paige muttered
to herself. Paige no longer knew how to persuade Chloe at the time. No matter how hard she tried, her daughter would refuse to
leave the door. Chloe was afraid that if she left, Joseph would not be able to find her. At this moment, she was obsessed with her
father’s return. Nevertheless, she could not go on like this. Chloe was in relatively poor health condition. The rain was heavy, and
she was not wearing enough layers. If it went
on like this, she would definitely catch a cold. At her age, a cold would usually last for many days... Although Paige was
somewhat reluctant, she still suppressed her emotions and said to her daughter, “Chloe! Don’t you understand what I’m telling
you? As I’ve said before, your father won’t come back today! What’s the point of waiting here? Do you want to catch a cold? Will
you finally come back inside?” Chloe’s body trembled. Looking up at her mother in surprise, she also had a hint of fear in her
eyes. With tears welling up, she finally shook her head stubbornly. “Dad will be back... Boo-hoo...” Paige started sobbing as
well. What she did not know was that perhaps there was indeed a mysterious link between Joseph and Chloe. Chloe sensed that
Joseph would return that day. As it turned out, Brandon went straight to Joseph ahead of schedule, which led to Joseph returning
to Chloe and Paige on the very same day. Indeed, this was mysterious how Chloe had such great instincts. Perhaps this was

because they were blood-related. Although Chloe had a great sixth sense when it came to his father, Paige did not see it coming
at all. Noticing how stubborn her daughter was, Paige then grabbed Chloe’s arm and pulled her into the hotel room. “Mom, I’m
not going with you. I want to wait for Dad. He will definitely come back today. Mom, I beg you, can you let me stay here? Please,
I want to stay here and wait for Dad...” Chloe struggled violently and refused to enter the room. “I’ve said it many times already!
Your father won’t be back today!” Paige was livid as she shouted at Chloe. Hearing her mother’s roar, Chloe was stunned.
Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that she was frightened. Her entire body trembled as she had never seen Paige so
angry before. Chloe immediately burst into tears. On the one hand, she was scared. On the other, she was worried about how
furious Paige became. Thus, she said to Paige, “I’m sorry, Mom. Don’t yell at me. I’m scared...” Chloe continued sobbing. Paige
was startled by the scene in front of her. In fact, she even wanted to slap herself. The next moment, she suddenly squatted down
and hugged Chloe. “I’m sorry, Chloe. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have yelled at you...” Paige apologized while crying. After a long
while, Paige eventually calmed down. She let go of Chloe and looked at her. “Chloe, your father really won’t come back today.
Be obedient. Come back inside and eat with me for now. Then, we both can get some rest. Can we wait for your father tomorrow
instead?” Lowering her head, Chloe fiddled with the hem of her white skirt. Since she was young at the time, she did not know
how to tell Paige how she felt deep down. Nonetheless, she knew that her mother was angry and sad at the time, so she needed
to be obedient.
Just as she was about to take Paige’s advice, Joseph suddenly appeared in the rain. He was walking quickly toward them.
Chloe noticed Joseph from the corner of her eye. She immediately broke free from Paige’s arms and ran toward her father. While
running, she shouted happily, “Dad...”
“Chloe... What? How is this possible?” At the sight of Chloe running out, Paige was about to stop her. Suddenly, she heard
Chloe’s cheerful voice.
The next moment, she was shocked to see Joseph rushing over. She then saw how her daughter happily threw herself into
Joseph’s arms...
This scene made her incredibly emotional. Joseph... He was really back! How could this be possible?
