Chapter 29
Theo/Gages POV
There she stood.
Our mate.
As Izzy stood there in shock we walked forward, slowly. As we approached we couldn't help but inhale her intoxicating scent. She smelt of lavender. That had always been our favourite scent. When ever we got to leave our cell and had to go hunt, we'd always pass a clearing filled with lavender. It was such a beautiful sight to behold, it was on the top of our list of beautiful things, until Izzy came along.
We knew that she was special. That we were meant to be together. We didn't care that we had to give something in return to have her as our mate, we'd do it again. And again. And again. No one could stop us from loving her now. This stupid medallion could come off now and I'd be free. I wouldn't have to suffer under their wrath anymore. This was one of the best day's ever. Or so we thought.
"Stay away from me, you monster!" She suddenly yelled, realising how close we were. Our heart clenched in pain, hearing that one word. We looked up at her, pain evident in our eyes. We opened our mouth to speak then realised, we couldn't.
We gave up our voice.
We knew that when we found our mate that we'd want to hear and see them, we'd rather give up our voice than sight and sound.
She began to back away from us, causing us to whimper out in pain.
"I can't have you as a m-mate. Y-You killed them! You're a monster!" She yelled, letting tears fall down her beautiful face. We forgot all about our pain and walked towards her, not wanting our mate to be in pain. She kept trying to back away from us while sobbing but we pulled her into our embrace. She tried to push us away, screaming that word over and over again. We wouldn't let go, not until we knew that she would be okay. We could already see how this would probably end. Another rejection. It hurt knowing that, that was most likely our fate but if us being away from her made her happy, then so be it. All we wanted in life was to make our mate happy, and now that we have one, she doesn't want us.
"Let go of me!" She snarled and shoved us hard enough to fly across the clearing. To be fair, we would never use our full strength against her. If we hurt her even more than we already have, we wouldn't fogive ourselves. Heck, we can't forgive ourselves already. We never wanted to hurt Izzy, and now that she's our mate it just makes it worse. We killed her parents. We were monsters.
We didn't sit up, only layed on the ground. That's where we belonged. We were just a piece of crap, needing to be thrown away. Everyone's lives would have been better if we never existed. Mother will probably never forgive us, same goes for the family. Izzy? Well why on Earth would she ever forgive us? We didn't notice that tears were silently falling fall from our eyes as we continued to stare at the ground, as if it had the answers to everything.
"T-Theo?" We hear her silently ask. Probably thinks we're out cold. We sigh and sit up, not looking at her. We couldn't bare to see that hate in her beautiful eyes.
"Aren't you going to say anything?"
What could we say? We had no voice. Then an idea popped into our heads. We grabbed a stick and did something that every child had done once in their lives. We stood up and wrote a few words for her to read. Once done she came slightly closer and read the words.
No voice
"How is that possible?" She questions, still keeping her distance from us. We wanted to explain everything too her, but we can't write everything in the sand.
"Use this wisely Theo. You only have ten minutes of this gift." We hear Moona's voice in our head then feel a tingle in our throat. We suddenly begin coughing, feeling as if something was chocking us. After a fit of coughing, and surprisingly, Izzy trying to help us we took in a large breath of air.
"That felt weird." We say unconsciously and our eyes widen. We just spoke but...Moona. We roll our eyes but still send her a silent thank you.
"So you lied about the no voice. Gawd, do you ever stop!" Izzy suddenly yells and tries to walk away again. We growl lowly in our throats and grab her wrist gently. We turn her to face us, needing her to listen to us.
"Take the medallion off, please." We say to her, pulling our shirt off. We didn't want to risk touching that blasted thing again. We could only hope that when Izzy touched it, it wouldn't harm her. She took a step back and looked at us, baffled.
"Why?"
"Please Izzy, I don't have much time." She sighed and stepped closer. Her body close to ours. We clenched our fists tightly, restraining from bringing her into our embrace. Her hands ran up our chest then reached for the chain. We waited for her to hiss in pain but that never came. Her hands wrapped around the necklace and pulled it over our head.
We're free.
We couldn't believe it, after all this time, we were finally free. We smiled and pulled Izzy to us, hugging her tightly. We let out a relieved sigh, knowing that they can't control us anymore.
"Let go of me!" She yelled again, making us release the hold we had on her. We looked at her then opened our mouth to explain. We told her everything. We didn't miss a single detail. By the time we had finished explaining her eyes were glazed over, not wanting the tears to fall.
Instead of saying anything she wrapped her arms around us, hugging us tightly.
"I'm sorry." She whispered and we looked down at her in confusion.
"Why are you sorry?"
"I called you a monster, when you were being controlled. I'm so sorry Theo-" We put our hand over her mouth, knowing that she's going to go on a cute little rant.
"It's okay Izzy. I also apologize. I know that no words will explain how sorry I am for taking your parents away from you, but I am truly sorry."
"Yeah...I just don't know what to do now? I'm sorry Theo but how can I be with someone who killed my parents? Even if it wasn't intentional." We sighed and stood back, nodding our head.
"I understand. You'll never have see me again Izzy. Goodbye." We turned and began to walk away from her. Walking away from our mate.
"Theo..." We stopped hearing her voice, she didn't continue. She wasn't sure what she wanted.
"Theo I-"
"Young lady, you better not be rejecting that boy. I thought I raised you better than that?" We suddenly hear a female voice say from across the field. We turn to the direction and see three figures standing there. A woman. A man. And a child.
"Mom? Dad?" Izzy says, then faints again.
