The Return of the Disguised Princess

Chapter 367 What Did You Just Say?

“Although we all know it’s him, this clue is useless to us. All the evidence is not enough to charge him. If you go to the suburbs,
you may meet one of his men.”
After hearing this, Amelie realized that Lamont stopped her for her own good.
“I didn’t expect that what you said was true. Thank you very much for this documentation. I won’t bother you again for further
investigation, Mr. Byron.”
After Amelie finished speaking, she put the documents in her bag and was about to leave.
“What? You plan to leave just like that?”
Amelie turned to look at him and asked suspiciously, “Do you have anything else to say, Mr. Byron?”
“I know what you are investigating. If you wait for Coffey to help you, you will spend more time than expected to discover the
truth. You can work with me. Besides, you know what I am capable of.
I found this document, which means I can help you with this.”
Amelie remained silent and pondered for a while.
Lamont was right. It took Coffey several days to find out what she asked, but Lamont found it easily and investigated it
thoroughly. Maybe she should think about working with him if she wanted to get things done.
Thinking of this, she nodded.
“I didn’t know you were this kind-hearted. If you insist, I guess it won’t hurt to work with you. Although this person is dead, he
must’ve kept the evidence. So I hope you can help me check if he has hidden the evidence.”
“You are so confident about this. Are you sure there is evidence?”
“Of course, you and I know what kind of person Willard is. He has done so many despicable things over the years. I believe this
person must know it too. He must’ve kept something up in his sleeves.”
Lamont narrowed his eyes slightly when he heard Amelie’s words, and then pointed to the car at the door.
“If you want my help, then have lunch with me.”

Lamont invited her to lunch again, and this time, Amelie did not refuse.
She knew she had to make some sacrifices if she wanted to succeed.
“Okay, since you invite me so kindly, I am not going to refuse. What do you want to have for lunch, Mr. Byron? My treat.”
They got into the car and left in a hurry.
Coffey suddenly received a text message just when he was about to arrive at the studio.
It was from Lamont, and he was fumed.
“Asshole!”
He parked the car on the other side of the road, looking at the text with thunderous face.
Lamont got the opportunity to spend time!
At this time, Lamont and Amelie arrived at a restaurant not far away.
A waiter came over to get their order.
“Sir, ma’am, you can look at the menu and see what you want to eat.”
Amelie took the menu and glanced through it briefly.
“Just bring us specials. I believe it will taste good,” Amelie said with a smile.
However, her eyes were fixed on Lamont the whole time.
“What do you think, Mr. Byron?”
“I love that. It’s your treat, order whatever you want, Ms. Cisneros.”
The waiter left after taking their order.
“Why are you doing this, Mr. Byron? You won’t need me if you want to knock down the Aylward Group. As far as I know,
Prosperity Global Entertainment is not an ordinary group. You don’t need all that effort to deal with them,” Amelie asked,
confused.

“You are smart, Ms. Cisneros.”
“I have to be. You are one of the most powerful big shots in this city. You must have plenty of plans. Otherwise, you wouldn’t
choose to cooperate with me,” Amelie confirmed.
Then she picked up the glass of wine and took a sip.
Though she tried not to let it show, she wanted to get more out of Lamont.
However, Lamont knew exactly what she was thinking about.
He smiled slightly and didn’t say anything in response.
His reaction was unusually calm.
The lunch went smoothly, but Lamont didn’t give anything away, even if Amelie relentlessly tried to figure out what Lamont
wanted.
Finally, Amelie put down her fork and looked at him seriously.
“Since you want to work with me, shouldn’t you tell me the truth, Mr. Byron? It’s not cool to hide. things from me!”
“What? I didn’t hide anything.”
“Are we still doing this, Lamont?”
Amelie’s face darkened immediately.
Lamont knew it was time.
“Well, since you want to know, then I’ll tell you. We are on the same boat from now on.”
Lamont smiled faintly, then spread his hands and laughed faintly.
“To be honest, I have always been pretending, Ms. Cisneros. Sometimes I would make mistakes in front of him. And those were
to boost his confidence, and he would think everything was under his control. Now that I lay my cards on the table, he must be
petrified about it. You know what I mean?”

“Of course. If you agree to knock Willard sown with me, I will do anything.”
Amelie’s expression was firm.
“Really? If that’s the case, then we can get married.”
“What? Get married?”
Amelie was stunned by his words.
“What did you just say? This is getting ridiculous. I am your cousin’s fiancee!”
Amelie was in shock.
“So what? You are not married yet. You can still cancel the engagement.”
Amelie looked at him in disbelief.
“Although I don’t know why you suggested this, I will never agree to it. I don’t have to work with you, and I don’t want to see you
again.” Amelie snapped.
She got up, grabbed her bag, and walked to the front desk. She got the check and then stopped by Lamont while walking out of
the restaurant.
“Then what are you planning to do? Are you planning to investigate by yourself without knowing anything at all? When will you
get what you want?”
“It’s none of your business. Mind your own shit, or you’ll fall into someone else’s trap.”
Amelie didn’t turn her head, she was afraid that Lamont would see the timidity in her eyes.
When she heard the word “get married,” she wasn’t happy at all. She was hit by a sense of loss.
She always thought that she would have a place in his heart for Amelie, but now, he actually wanted to marry someone.
