Chapter 351
Chapter 351 Leila Got Arrested
Whispers and murmurs filled the room.
Why were the two sons of the Byron family both here today?
The moment Leila laid eyes on Amelie, her face contorted with anger.
What was she doing here?
Leila quickly glanced at Lamont, who stood expressionless at his side, showing no change in demeanor.
“What brings you guys here? To offer their congratulations?”
Leila hurried off the stage to Amelie’s side, trying to ease the tension and avoid any missteps.
With a warm smile on her face, she took Amelie’s hand.
“Of course, I came to bless you. I never expected you to hold a press conference for her wedding.”
Amelie replied affectionately.
Leila sensed that something was amiss but had no time to ponder it.
Lamont remained on stage, aloof and indifferent.
“Ms. Cisneros, may I ask if you’re going to marry Mr. Coffey Byron soon?”
A rave reporter approached her.
“Indeed, we are. Before that, I have some personal matters to attend to.”
She smiled mysteriously and shook off Leila’s hand.
“Leila, how long do you plan on keeping this a secret? Do you really think you can get away with it forever?”
Amelie spoke with disdain and contempt in her eyes.
“What do you mean? I don’t understand.”
“You don’t understand?”
Amelie curled her lips and raised her hand. The screen behind her lit up with a flurry of images.
Those were photos of Leila and evidence of her overseas dealings.
There were also some explicit photos, which caused an instant uproar at the scene.
“Are these all true? How is it possible!”
Immediately afterward, a video played, revealing all the illegal things Leila had done.
“No! These are all fake!”
Leila became agitated and stormed toward the stage to turn off the screen.
But when she reached the stage, she was stopped by Lamont.
“Don’t you know whether these are true or not?”
“Lamont! Don’t you believe the closest! Everything I say is true!”
Leila looked at Lamont in disbelief.
“The most important thing you should do now is face the music. Do you really think that everything you’ve done can be covered
up so easily?”
Lamont said, his eyes indifferent and chilling.
“Lamont! Do you want to send me to prison too? Didn’t you promise me that you would...”
“Do you really not know whether those are true or not?”
Lamont cut her off.
“You!”
Only then did Leila realize that she had been fooled.
“So, you were all in on it.”
Leila turned to face the reporters behind her, feeling a cold terror in her heart.
She never thought it would come to this.
“My God! Are these all Lella: Sunbelievable!”
“That’s right! It’s terrible, the daughter of the Aylward family has done so many bad things!”
Leila’s ears were filled with the doubts and accusations of everyone around her.
She was terrified, afraid that this was the end for her.
“No, it’s all fake! This press conference is over! Get them out of here!”
Leila bellowed.
The scene erupted into chaos as security guards rushed in, attempting to drive away the reporters.
“What are you doing? We haven’t finished asking our questions yet! If Ms. Aylward really committed all these illegal acts, she’ll
be taken away by the police.”
“That’s right! No criminals can get away unpunished!”
The reporters were outraged.
Sensing that the situation was spiraling out of control, Leila tried to slip away unnoticed.
But the reporters spotted her and quickly surrounded her.
“Get out of my way! You don’t know anything about this situation. Don’t make a scene, or I’ll make sure you never work in the
media again!”
Leila threatened them.
Her words only served to further enrage the reporters.
They reached out to block her path, determined not to let her leave.
Amelie stood nearby, watching the scene unfold with indifference.
Suddenly, the wail of a police siren pierced the air.
The crowd fell silent and looked back.
Amelie quickly moved to the side to avoid being seen.
A group of police officers entered the hall.
The reporters scattered, fearful of being implicated.
Leila had been pushed to the ground. She looked up at the approaching officers with panic in her eyes.
“No, I’m doomed!”
She scrambled to her feet and tried to make a run for it. But it was too late.
She was quickly caught by the police.
“Ms. Aylward, please come with us.”
“Why? I haven’t done anything wrong! Why are you taking me away? No! My lawyer isn’t here yet. You can’t take me away
without my lawyer present. That would be illegal!”
The officers exchanged glances but showed no mercy.
Their orders were clear take Leila into custody, no matter what. The evidence against her was overwhelming, and this was
merely a formality to make the arrest legal.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Aylward. The evidence clearly points to your guilt. We’re not asking for your consent to take you away. Even if
your lawyer were here, it wouldn’t make a difference.”
With that, the officers escorted Leila out of the building. She struggled and protested but to no avail.
Amelie watched the woman go in silence. She had finally succeeded.
Amelie stood in a corner, watching as the last of the reporters and onlookers left the hall. Only then did she prepare to go.
Coffey followed her without a word.
As they were about to get into their car, Lamont suddenly appeared.
“Ms. Cisneros, are you leaving already? The show isn’t over yet.” He said as he closed the car door.
Amelie looked at him in surprise.
“What do you mean? Is there something else you want to do?”
“Why don’t we celebrate it with a drink?”
“Sorry, I’m not interested.”
“That was indeed my mistake,” Lamont began but was interrupted by Coffey.
“Cousin, if you have nothing else to do, you should go back. Your fiancée has just been arrested, and you’re not in a hurry?”
Coffey said with a hint of exasperation.
