The Return of the Assassins

Chapter CHAPTER 29

After a very refreshing shower, I went down to get myself something to drink and to just relax. As I came down the stairs I heard Violet and Blake in the living room playing games and I really did not want to get involved with that as they tend to fight a little about the games. So I got myself a strong drink and went to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. As I was sitting down Sonja came out with a drink for herself and joined me. We were quiet for a few minutes both of us deep in thought, but I could not handle the silence anymore and I started to ask her more about the live of fairies. “Well...there was a time that we lived among the creatures of the night and humans, but after a while...wars broke out and humans started to hunt for the smaller breeds of the fairy folk. So when I took over the throne...” She looked into oblivion as if looking back at her memories of when she became Queen, as a smile broke out on her face she started speaking again. “It was about 762 years ago, I searched for a secluded island where my fairies will be able to live in peace and I found it, so I took my fairies there and Amara made a protective magical barrier, hiding us from the outside world. From there on no one would be able to see the island or come near it and my fairies lived in peace.

I sat there taking in all the details she told me about the island and fairies and....Amara. I could help but to think about the meeting earlier today and the questions she first asked when she came into the office and I must say something’s are starting to show itself that I did not like at all. “So Amara was the one that put a spell on the island for you.....is there anyone else that could have had that information where the island was or was she the only one?” She looked at me for a moment a little confused about my question and then realization hit as her eyes became bigger. “O....I see where you are headed with this; you think she has something to do with my missing fairies.” “I don’t know. If she was the only one that knew about your island she must be involve or someone must have entered her mind, through magic maybe.” “I know Amara...she is the oldest and most powerful witch in the world, no matter how big the coven is or how strong a dark witch is there is no way they would be able to get information from her no matter what they did.” Well maybe she trusted in someone and told them about it, so that if something happen to her there will be someone else that know.” No she will not do that and if she told someone out of free will I would have known, we are bind by a magical contract.” “Then it only leaves one thing....” “She is part of this.” We said in unison.

“Okay so what now, where do we go from here? Do we inform Alexander about this or what?” Sonja asked me. I sat there for a while measuring the pros and the cons against one another. “No...we do not tell Alexander about this, at this moment she thinks we are only after Aldan and don’t know about her and I am sure she already informed Aldan that Jason is tracing him, so he will definitely not go to where ever they are busy with whatever they are doing to the creators. Alexander is very attached to her and he will be acting all diffract around her and we do not want that.” “So now we know Aldan and Amara is working together, all we need now is a location and where we will find that I have no idea.” I look at her for a moment before speaking. “Well we work it out, as easy as that. She looked at me as if I was crazy but what else can we do. “Work it out you say, well then let’s start working....after I fetched a new drink, you want one?” “Yes please.”

I barely had a few seconds to think before she was back with new drinks. “So with what did you come up with?” “Not much thou. We know they are working together and someone will notice if they leave the city for long periods of time right.” “Right...” So the place must be nearby and like Violet stated it will probably be underground.” “So what you saying, we are looking for a place near the city but underground.” “There must be an entrance thou something that if someone saw it, it would not look out of place but at the same time would not make them curious as to why it is there.” “Like for example a wooden shed on the side of flower fields.” I looked at her with my eyebrows lifted in question. “I saw a wooden shed just outside the city on the side of a flower field when I was flying here.” “It could be...or it could just be a place where they store gardening tools.” The field is full of wildflowers why would someone use gardening tools there?” “O....well we can go and scope the place out tomorrow if you are up for it.” “Only...the two of us?” “And Violet of course. What...? Are you afraid of a very old witch and some of her minions?” I asked chuckling a little, but my body was protesting so hard it turn into a cough. “Ha...see don’t laugh at me and no she may be old and strong, but I’m a match for her age and well you alone is so much stronger with Violet there it will be a walk in the park.” Sonja said with a wicked smile on her face. “Then it is a date, tomorrow we will go scout a little.” I said returning her smile.

“What are you two up to now?” We heard Alexander ask as he came out of the house and gave us both almost heart attacks. I turned to look at him with the sweetest face I can muster. “O nothing love just some girl stuff.” Alexander looked at us both and then started laughing. “What in the world could be so funny?” Sonja asked. “I was trying to imagine you two actually going to a spa and get your hair and nails done....Somehow that really does not suite you.” He said chuckling a little still and that is where we start laughing, imagining the same thing. Then Violet, Blake and Liam came out of the house. “Well don’t you guys look jolly?” Violet said as she took a seat next to me. We got our game faces back on as I asked Liam “Anything to report?” “Jason informed me that Aldan went to his office and worked for a while and is sitting at home now watching some documentary on the television, nothing interesting.” As he said that, Sonja and I shared a knowing look and no one missed it. “I am asking for the last time what are you two busy with.” Alexander asked in his low and threatening voice. I looked at him narrowing my eyes and said, “Nothing love, but if you use that tone of voice with me one more time you will be sleeping in your office.” He kept my eye contact for a while and then shifted it to Sonja who was trying to suppress her laughter. “We promise you Alexander that we will behave okay, you have nothing to worry about now.” She said.

I started to feel warmth spread through me and as I looked at Violet, I saw her eyes were closed and that she was concentrating hard. Then I felt my bones started to warm up and it got easier to breath. “That is enough Princesses, I can manage from here,” I told her as I felt her weakening. “Thank you.” I said while pulling her closer and kissing her on the top of her head. “She really did a number on you mom, it felt like most of your bones were cracked.” Sonja looked at Violet in awe as she saw the difference in my appearance. “Did....Did you just heal your mother.” She asked half in shock. “One of my many talents,” Violet said proudly as Blake smiled at her. “You should first practice on minor injuries and get stronger, before you try to heal your mother. She is never just lightly wounded,” Liam exclaimed and I narrowed my eyes at him and throw him with a piece of ice. He started laughing and put it into his mouth grinning at me. “So are we going to eat or just sit hear teasing each other” Blake asked. At that my stomach started to growl load and angry and we all burst out laughing once more.

The next morning I woke up and instinctively turned around to see Alexander, but he was not there. Shooting up strait, I looked around the room searching for him. Then I hear the shower being turned off and I relaxed into the bed again, knowing that he was probably busy in the bathroom. As he came out already dressed in his suit, he came and sits on the bed next to me looking all serious. “I need to attend some meetings today love, please stay out of trouble today.” “You say that like I get into trouble every day.” “Well almost every day love.” I smiled at him and said, “I will be good, don’t worry okay.” He looked at me a little suspiciously and then kissed me passionately as if it may be the last time he would taste my lips. As we parted for some breath, he narrowed his eyes at me. “I am serious.....be a good girl now.” I just rolled my eyes at him and gave him a quick peck on the lips as I got up to go to the bathroom. “I always am, enjoy your day love,” I cooed him and I heard him leave a sigh as he got up and went out.

Once done and going to get some much needed coffee, I saw Drago sitting on one of the stools at the kitchen drinking his coffee. “Morning...” I said while looking at him sideways. “Morning...” he replied almost irritated. “Why are you here?” “I have been put on babysitting duty Scar.” “Are you.... are you serious!” “Looks like your mate is not trusting you so much today.” I just rolled my eyes at him and poured myself coffee. As I was still busy I felt Drago’s eyes on me as if he was busy scrutinizing me. “What...!” “I see that Alexander has good reason not to trust you. Why are you wearing your fighting close?” “Because they are comfortable Drago, that’s why.” At that moment Violet entered the kitchen and froze in place as she looked at me. “Are we training again mom or did I miss something.” I looked at her with a smile and said, “Yes Princess we are training again today. Why don’t you get a cup of coffee and go gear up.” At that Sonja entered with a smile on her face and I am sure she heard the whole conversation. She went and poured herself a cup of coffee and took a seat next to Drago as I took the one on the other side of him. He started to look very uncomfortable between us. “What’s going on mom?” Violet asked while narrowing her eyes, looking between us. “Nothing Princess like your mother said, we are going to do a little training.”

I looked at Drago and I pushed my aura out...just a little. “Drago you are not to tell Alexander anything that we are doing or where we are....is that understood.” I said while holding his gaze. “Now Scar you know I could not lie to Alexander, he will have my head.” “Like Scarlet said all he has to know is that we are going to train and if you tell him anything else but that...we will have your head.” Sonja said in a threatening manner. “Okay now you guys are making me curious. What are we going to do?” Violet asked with excitement in her eyes. “Well Princess we are going to scout a place.” Drago went from half scared to totally pale just from hearing my words. “What do you mean we are going to scout a place?” “Well it is a beautiful wild flower field just outside the city and there is a wooden shack that we will like to go and look at, that’s all.” Violets eyes grow wider as she realized what that meant. “You found it you found were the lab is!” “We don’t know Princess, which is why we are going to have a little peak. “You should really go speak to Alexander about this Scar this could be dangerous.” “Drago please understand that we can’t tell him anything at this point we need to have a look first okay.” “O I am going to be in a whole lot of trouble you know that.” “Don’t worry so much little Dragon; we’ve got your back. Sonja said while opening one of her wings and folding it around Drago. “But you are going to be a good Dragon and stay quiet.” “One problem as soon as we step foot out of the city he is going to know about it, he will feel it.” “No need to stress about that we’ve got it cover.” I said with a grin on my face. “So let’s get geared up.” Sonja said with that wicked smile of hers.
