Chapter 12
Chapter 12
Christine suddenly realized what the real meaning of saying the most horrible things with the cutest tones was.
She tenderly massaged her forehead, feeling her brain nerves twitching with the emotional turmoil.
In an instant, all the anger that had consumed her vanished, leaving only a sense of embarrassment lingering within her.
“Boys, please exercise some restraint. Randall is innocent. Mommy truly doesn’t know him, and I can assure you he’s not your father.”
Despite feeling that she had explained herself clearly, her two sons remained indifferent, stubbornly clinging to their own
beliefs.
Furrowing her brow, Christine spoke with a touch of awkwardness, “What causes you both to have such a misguided perception? Merely based on resemblance? Countless people in the world look alike. You’ve seen those videos on the internet with children resembling celebrities. However, these kids are not related to celebrities at all. They have their own parents to testify to that. Resemblance alone does not imply a parent–child relationship. Do you understand, my dear sons?”
Milo raised his eyes defiantly, staring at Christine with a wronged look, and declared. “But mommy, I’ve verified it. I’ve told his fortune with Tarot, and the result shows that Randall is indeed my father.”
For a moment, Christine was taken aback at Milo’s words.
Her second son Milo had always shown an interest in mystical arts like fortune–telling, and his predictions had been uncannily accurate, except for the matter of determining who his father was.
She had always believed in Milo’s abilities of fortune telling, but when it came to who her kids‘ father was, no one would know it better than herself.
Originally, she thought of teaching her two mischievous children a lesson about not hacking into other people’s systems casually after she had returned home. However, now as she witnessed the lost expressions on their faces, she only saw two poor children who were deeply hurt when looking for their father.
In a change of heart, she decided against punishing them. Instead, she wrapped her arms around them and said, “Milo, I know. Your abilities have always been remarkable, and I do believe in you. There might be a spiritual connection between you and Randall, maybe from your past life. However, in this present life, there isn’t a father–son bond between you two.”
Christine tended to Milo’s feelings as best she could and, with a gentle sidelong glance at Oliver, spoke in a caring tone.
“Oliver, you are the second–ranked expert, Skyy, who is on the global hacker list and attracting a lot of attention. Going out casually might lead to the exposure of your true identity, and that could cause unnecessary trouble. Promise me, don’t engage in hacking others‘ systems in the future, okay?”
Her two six–year–old sons possessed remarkable intelligence, but she knew that such brilliance could sometimes lead them. to great danger. So, she did her best to shield them from excessive attention.
“Mommy, look at the Tarot cards. The connection between my father and me is not from my previous life. We are bound in some way in this life and we’re…
Milo attempted to share something, but before he could utter the words “father and son“, Oliver interrupted him.
Oliver tilted his head, understanding the situation, and said, “Mommy, sorry. We’ve made a mistake. That man is not our father.”
Milo furrowed his brow, seemingly wanting to say something but hesitating.
Oliver earnestly continued, “Mommy, I won’t recklessly hack into people’s systems anymore.”
Hearing this, Christine felt a sense of relief.
“You both are so good. Stay home and play for a while. I need to head to Healthstone Hospital now. Henry has arranged a position for me there, and I have to attend the induction.”
“Okay, be careful on your way, Mommy.”
“Take care. Mommy.”
Christine left, and Oliver turned to Milo, sharing his thoughts, “Milo, don’t worry, I won’t let that scumbag dad go, but Mommy doesn’t want us to target him. We can’t cause difficulties for her, so any actions we take must have nothing to do with us and must leave no traces”
Milo nodded, displaying confidence. “I understand, Oliver. The infertility powder is colorless and odorless.”
Oliver clicked open his laptop, only to discover that the virus he had carefully programmed for Reeves Group had been cunningly cracked.
Milo’s perplexed gaze widened with disbelief. “Oliver, how can this be possible? They actually cracked the virus. As far as I know, their company only has Alaric, who ranks fifth on the hacker list. Alaric doesn’t possess the ability to crack the virus you programmed.”
Chapter 12
Oliver gently raised his eyebrows, a flicker of surprise passing through his eyes.
It hadn’t occurred to him that Reeves Group harbored such formidable talent, someone who could crack the virus he programmed.
“Could it be that Asteroid is helping him?” Milo asked.
Asteroid was the top–ranked expert on the global hacker list.
Oliver had been searching for Asteroid’s identity for a year without any success.
Yet, unexpectedly, here in Archiland, he had encountered a most unusual harvest.
Oliver’s eyes grew deeper, and a meaningful smile curled at the corner of his lips…
In a wig store.
“Excuse me, I want to try on that wig, please.”
The sales clerk looked at Christine, with her fair complexion and long legs, then glanced at the old–fashioned wig she had chosen and couldn’t help but feel a bit confused. “How could such a lovely beauty spoil her appearance with such an unflattering wig?” she thought.
“Miss, you’re so fashionable. If you like short hair, I can introduce you to this super chic wig. It would be perfect for your temperament.”
“I just want to try that one,” Christine insisted.
Reluctantly, the clerk handed over the wig to Christine, who instantly appeared ten years younger once she had it on.
“Miss, this wig doesn’t suit you at all. You should consider trying another model.”
Christine removed the wig and spoke gently, “Just this one, please wrap it up for me.”
The order came too abruptly, and the clerk was overjoyed, “Miss, you are beautiful and thoughtful. It’s heartwarming to see you consider the preferences of older family members. This classic style wig exudes an aura of grace and elegance.”
The clerk gushed with praise, but Christine remained calm as she replied, “I’ll be using it for myself.”
The air in the store suddenly fell silent.
At that very moment, the clerk immediately hushed, fixing an incredulous gaze upon Christine.
With the neatly packed wig in her hand, Christine calmly departed the wig store.
Earlier, when she went to purchase a dark–colored foundation, the counter attendant also gawked in awe.
She didn’t want to buy items unsuited to her age, but she felt compelled to do so.
The patient whom Henry had requested her to give treatment was none other than Elizabeth from the prestigious Reeves family.
Randall, the crazy man, believed she would go to any lengths to approach him.
Little did he know that she was his grandmother’s attending doctor. If he knew the truth, he might think that she was going to approach him again in this way and mock her.
Upon discovering Randall’s position as the CEO of the Reeves Group, Christine initially attempted to have someone else assigned as Elizabeth’s attending doctor. However, her efforts were in vain, as Henry not only declined her request but also provided an excellent kindergarten for her two young kids.
It appeared that he wanted her to stay in Archiland until Elizabeth made a full recovery.
This situation left Christine feeling utterly exasperated.
Nonetheless, she reassured herself that despite Randall being Elizabeth’s grandson, he would likely be preoccupied with his responsibilities as the president and unlikely to visit the hospital frequently.
And if he did come for a visit, as long as she adorned herself a bit and wore a mask, he wouldn’t recognize her.
This strategy would spare her unnecessary complications, for she had no desire to encounter him and cross paths with him.
