Chapter 3: Ate so many snacks
The next morning!
Calvin silently left Roselet's room for morning training with the pack members without disturbing her sleep. When he returned after a few hours later, he asked about her studies with Nelina so that he would have an idea about homework and the things that were going on in her class
“By the way, Calvin!! I hope you remember about my retirement.” Nelina reminded him, on which he groaned.
"You really have to leave?”
"Yes, son!! I worked with your family when Caroline was five or six years old, and now her daughter is around that age. Now, my husband doesn't want me to work and rest from every work. And I won't lie, even I want to spend the remaining time of my life with him now, only him.”
"Hmm. Even though I want to be selfish, I can't. Anyway, now that you want to take retirement, then please find a nanny just like you in another term, PERFECT." Calvin said, checking the refrigerator so that he would prepare breakfast for his love.
He checked the schedule and found that it was “Noodles’ in the breakfast.
“Last week, I cooked Soba Noodles, didn't 1?
“Yes!”
"Perfect then, I will prepare Egg Noodles today.” Calvin finalized and started preparing coffee for him.
"Why don’t you think of marrying someone? You're already thirty-two now.” Nelina suggested. “I mean, getting a mommy for Rose is better than a nanny.”
“Do you think that I haven't thought about it? Or Mom or Dad?” Calvin chuckled. “Women who are interested in me don't want Rose, and those who are interested in Rose, like single mothers, Rose doesn’t want them.” He said, sipping his coffee.
“Rose wants someone who loves me and cares for me, which the ladies like single mothers or broken women don't want to do because they don't want to give a second chance to their life. So, topics end there.” Calvin said with a smile. “To be honest, Rose is the best thing that happened to me. I thought Moon Goddess punished me by sending her into my life but... but I was stupid to understand that she was a blessing then. Now I understand why dad loves his daughters more than his sons.”
“By the way, have you found anything about HER?" Nelina asked to know about the search operation that Calvin had started the night he had found Roselet.
“Nope. Nothing.” Calvin replied, shaking his head. “I have visited more than a hundred packs in the past five years but haven't sensed the other scent that my daughter has. If I'm not wrong then, dad, Artemis, and Aunt Becca also didn't find anyone that particular scent.”
“I think she died or something; otherwise, we would have found her in all these years.” He concluded.
"Or maybe, you should change the way of searching her, or maybe she is not a pack wolf?” Nelina
suggested.
“I don't think she is an urban wolf or Rouge because, as per my calculation, I met her during the mating ball, which is held twice a year for pack wolves in search of their mate,” Calvin mumbled. “But there can be chances that she can be banished from the pack, which might have turned her rouge later, or she left the pack willing to stay in the human world as an urban wolf.”
"Oh no!!” Calvin groaned. “I didn't think that way. And if what you are saying is right, then there is no way I can find her between humans of around 8 billion in the whole world and rouges... those wild, misbehaved animals hears no one and take orders from no one. On the top, their way of living..."
"We all know how they live, but at the same time, you know who can help you,” Nelina said and left from there to resume her other words.
“Lee?” Calvin mumbled and recalled his father's order. “If anyone will keep contact with her, then I will break all my ties with that person.”
After finishing the coffee, Calvin left the kitchen to wake his love, who could stay awake like an owl but hates waking in the morning.
“Here, daddy!! I'm all done.” Roselet said, passing her plate to Calvin, leaving one-fourth plate of noodles to eat.
“I told you earlier that you won't be eating this much,” Calvin told her, on which she pouted. He finished her leftovers, and since it was off for both of them, Calvin did his work on the other side of the table while Roselet was busy drawing.
“Need my help?” He asked between his work.
“No, daddy.” She replied. “This is the nth number of times you're asking the same thing.”
“the nth number of times you're asking the same thing.” he mimicked her words and returned back to his work. He watched her leave the chair silently after a while.
“Daddy, I'm full.” Roselet passed half sandwich to him.
“Learn to finish all your food, sweetheart,” Calvin said to her, but not to waste the food he ate it. After an hour!!
“Calvin, I don't want to eat this piece of cake anymore,” Roselet said, passing him a chocolate cake that he couldn't deny, and ate that again. After that, Roselet went out to play with other pups “What are you preparing for lunch?” Calvin asked after taking a break from his work.
“Grandma Nelina!!” Roselet came running after playing with her friends. “Please give me some cookies and milk."
“Rose, if you will eat those things now, then you won't eat your lunch properly.”
"Please, Calvin! I promise to eat my lunch properly.”
“Fine!! But you eat so many snacks.” Calvin said, on which Roselet pouted. After eating one cookie and half a glass of milk, she silently passed it to Calvin again, on which she received a glare from her dad this time.
At the time of lunch!!
Roselet made sure to finish each and everything on her plate while Calvin was playing with his food. He was already so full, and he hadn't done any workout between morning to noon.
“See, Calvin. I kept my promise and finished my lunch.” She said proudly.
“Good. I'm proud of you.”
“But why are you not eating anything?”
“Because I'm not feeling so hungry,” Calvin replied, not blaming her who was the reason behind his situation. He sat to eat with her only to company her because not every day he used to get a chance to have lunch with her because of his work, of course.
“I know why?" Roselet said, nodding her head.
"Why?" Calvin asked in amusement, thinking she would take the blame for everything and might promise not to repeat the same.
“Because you ate so many snacks.” Roselet blamed him.
“What?” Calvin looked at the little devil in disbelief.
"Yes. Please finish all the food on your plate because we should waste the food.” Roselet said, more like ordered.
"Okay, Mommy." Calvin agreed while both his wolf and he was amused by his love's smartness. Roselet yawned after Calvin placed her on the bed for an afternoon nap.
"Feeling sleepy already?” Calvin asked to which she nodded her head.
"Also, I'm feeling tired,” Roselet said, to which Calvin smiled and started pressing her tiny legs with the palms of his hand. “You're the best daddy, Calvin.”
"And you're the best daughter, love. Now sleep peacefully.”
After half an hour, Calvin left her room, closing the door silently. “Nelina, pack Rose's luggage for a day. I have informed Caro; she will come here by evening to take Rose with her.”
“Okay. Does she know where you are going?”
“No. But she will understand on her own.” Calvin replied, walking away from there.
“Strange, father understands the unasked question of his daughter that where is her Mommy? And the daughter understands the sudden disappearance of her father that he went to search for her Mommy.’ Nelina thought.
