My heart thumped wildly in my chest as I walked briskly towards the town.
It’s been two days since I left. No, ran away. Eve and Norman wouldn’t let me leave. It was Rolan who allowed me to leave without them finding out.
He was thoughtful enough to pack some food for my journey and I was already running low.
I knew it would be difficult finding Selene so decided to go to Greyvine. I still didn’t trust Eve completely, but! knew she wouldn’t hurt my children.
As soon as I caught sight of the bougainvilleas and the waterfall–Greyvine’s symbol, I smiled inwardly. All that was left would be to find the seer.
I remembered that Eve had stopped in front of a wooden house. She had called her faith or Freda or– I realized that I had forgotten the name and I groaned.
Suddenly, my wolf’s sensitive ears picked up the sound of rustling leaves behind me and I stood still, suddenly scared that something bad would happen. Greyvine was known for witchcraft practices and it scared me.
I was glancing around, realizing that I was the only one on the lonely path when someone tapped my shoulder twice. I spun around quickly, ready to defend myself when my breath hitched in my throat as I saw who it was.
“Eve?” I furrowed my brows wondering how she had followed me all the way to Greyvine.
She smiled and instantly transformed. The person in front of me wasn’t Eve anymore, it was Lucien and I shook my head rapidly.
“Stop this now!” I yelled, curling my fist into a ball as I grind my teeth. I didn’t like how whoever it was, was
messing with my head.
“Thought you like it,” it was Rielle this time and I drew my fingers out, ready to strike.
“Calm down,” she seethed, transforming into me.
“Wouldn’t want to hurt yourself now, would you.”

At that moment, my chest began to ache and I clutched my chest, groaning as I glared at her or him. FrewTE was their doing.
I gasped as I fell to the ground, trying to fight the darkness that was gradually seeping in. I knew what would happen if I gave in to the dark and I knew better than to lose consciousness in a strange land in front of a strange
woman.
My breaths became heavy as beads of sweat appeared on my forehead. My vision blurred as the pain weakened my body. I staggered up but fell back down, taking my arms up in desperation to hold onto something, anything.
I blinked back tears, feeling myself give into the darkness.
I groaned as a painful headache tore through my skull, my eyes fluttering open. I scrunch my face in confusion, trying to remember where I was and why my body ached horribly.
“You’re awake, good.” The feminine voice came from a silhouette far away and as she walked towards me, I was filled with dread.
“Who–who are you?” I croaked out groggily.
I tried to sit up and winced.
“What did what did you do to me?” I questioned as the memories of the previous night flooded me.
“Me? What I did do?” She took slow strides and when she finally came into view I inhaled loudly.
“Who are you?” I realized that I didn’t know this face and she shook her head.
“You mean you don’t recognize me? this face?” She placed a hand on her chest. “Ouch!”
I furrowed my brows, wondering why the voice sounded familiar. The voice sounded familiar but the face wasn’t.
“Think harder, Amara Müller.”
“Why am I here and how do you know me?” I demanded, easing onto the bed.
“What do you want to do to me?”
“Too many questions. But nothing and Nothing. I figured you needed help and what better person to help you

“What are you?” I questioned.
“Someone who wants to help you.”
i scoffed.
“If you want to help me, you’ll let me go.”
“Are you sure that’s the only help you need? A little birdie told me that you needed to find someone.”
My eyes shot up to meet hers. There was no way she knew that I was on a journey to search for Selene. The only people who knew were the ones I left. They couldn’t have told her.
“Rolan sent you?” It was a statement rather than a question and she didn’t seem surprised.
“No. And you’ll be a fool to trust him.”
“I don’t trust him. I don’t trust you either.” I shot out.
She chuckled. “Good. Don’t trust anybody. if you want to make it out of all these in one piece, you’d better
remember that.”
“Who are you?” I demanded again and she smiled.
“Guess.”
“What did you do to me?”
“Nothing. If anything, I helped you.”
“Help? How did you help me? By making me unconscious?” I scoffed.
“The ache—you’d have died from it.”
I cradled my torso as I glanced at her from the corner of my eyes. She knew about the ache. She knew so many things about me and I knew nothing about her. The healer had indeed said that the ache would kill me if I and
Lucien do not mate again.

With everything going on and the ache not showing up anymore, I had totally forgotten about her warning and was focused only on finding Selene.
There was no way I could mate with Lucien. I had to find Selene! It was funny how my own mission had changed from finding My children to finding Selene.
“What did you do?” I questioned. If there was a way to be freed of the ache without being with Lucien then I
would take it.
“Nothing really. I only made sure you were too unconscious to feel the pain.”
She grinned and I opened my mouth. I finally recognized her. I knew that smile. She looked different, very different but it was her.
“Selene.”
