The Rejected Alpha Wolf

Chapter NINETEEN-MEETING ALPHA PATRICK

Ace POV

I was sitting in the office with Rachel, trying to figure out how Matthew escaped custody, and the elder's best warriors were all dead except one. He was barely alive when the others found him, and he told the council what happened.

When Alpha Miles called and told me the news, I immediately sent trackers and Dark Moon's trackers to the wreckage. They only found the burnt-up bodies and the SUV. They also picked up the faint stench of rogues in the area, but there was no sign of any of them.

"I think this is Silas doing," Rachel said as I paced the office and ran my fingers through my curls.

"What makes you say that little flower?" I looked at her as she stared at me.

"You and Matthew used to be friends until that incident with Carissa."

"Silas hasn't stopped trying to find a way to take me back and make me his Luna, and my Dad is probably siding with him to get to my Mom and get the deeds to Lotus Shadow," Rachel said.

I thought about what Rachel said, and she could be correct, but there was only one way to know if we had someone inside Silas's pack giving us information. I paced more until I heard a knock at the door.

"Come in," I called out as the gang entered the office.

"Anything new?" Carlito asked me as he and Chloe took a seat, along with Julio, Amber, and Carissa. I shook my head as Carlito sighed, and Carissa looked nervous.

"I should've ripped his damn head off," Carlito growled out, and Chloe rubbed his arm to help him calm down.

We discussed what could happen and ensured double patrol and training to ensure no one could surprise us. I was about to say something when my office phone started ringing. I walked over and picked up the receiver.

"Alpha Ace, speaking," I said and heard a strong Irish accent.

"Alpha Ace. My name is Alpha Patrick Connolly from Wind Howler pack," I heard him say.

"Lad, I'm on my way toward your pack right now. We need to talk about Blake Sullivan and what he plans to do with your pack and mate," I growled through the phone and heard him laugh.

"I take that as a sign of good faith, my friend. See you in an instant," Patrick said.

"I'll let the warriors know to be on the lookout for you then, Alpha Patrick," I told him, and I heard him chuckle.

"Lad, tell your warriors to look for a blue Jaguar roadster."

"It's just me and my Beta Ryan," Patrick said. I laughed because his thick accent was unusual for me.

"I will do that, Alpha Patrick," I ended the call.

I quickly sent a link to the warriors posted at the gate to be on the lookout for Alpha Patrick and his Beta Ryan.

A few minutes later, my parents walked inside the office. My Dad looked every bit like an Alpha male. With him being retired, I think he spent his time in the gym or playing golf with Grandfather Aquila. Mom looked very regal and stunning. Her blonde hair grew, and her blue eyes sparkled as she smiled at me.

"Hey, Mom and Dad," I greeted my parents as they sat on one of the couches in the office.

"Hey, son. I heard a visitor was coming, so your Grandfather and I cut our golf game short," he smiled as my Mother held his hand.

If I didn't know any better, looking at my parents, I would say they were the next King and Queen of werewolves. I heard Apollo snicker.

"If you only knew, buddy," he said.

I got a mind link from Rafe that Alpha Patrick and his Beta Ryan had just arrived at the gate. I gave Rafe the okay to let them pass, and we waited with bated breath. Shortly after, a knock sounded on the door, and I saw Carissa's head snap up. She took a deep breath.

"Mate," I heard her say as the door opened.

Patrick POV

"Ryan, what in the hell are you doing?"

"Straighten up, lad, for fuck's sake. Can't you even look professional," I growled. My Beta was like a puppy I had to watch every five minutes.

"Sorry, Alpha Patrick," he said and straightened his tie.

My pack, Wind Howler, was about half the size of Blue Eclipse. Wolves feared us because of our brute strength and speed. But wolves don't know that we were true gents, and instead of fighting, we talked things out before throwing punches. After driving for about three hours, Ryan and I finally reached the Blue Eclipse territory.

"Ryan, look at that," I told my Beta as we approached a giant iron gate.

"Woah!" Ryan said as I stopped the car.

The land was lush and green. I could smell the fresh air. A warrior stepped out of his post and leaned toward my car.

"Alpha Patrick?" he asked in a deep, accented voice like Alpha Ace. Holy mother goddess, this guy was huge.

"That's me, lad," I told him as he chuckled.

"Alpha Ace said to be expecting you."

"So go ahead, Alpha," He nodded as the gate opened, and I drove through.

"Alpha Patrick, the land...it's glorious," Ryan said as we drove through the territory.

I couldn't help but realize Ryan was right. A city surrounded Wind Howler, so our territory had less forest land, but we were hidden, and humans rarely hiked through the woods. My wolf, Phelan, howled and paced, giving me a headache.

"Hey, wolf, what's your deal, lad?" I asked.

"Mate is near," he said, as my dark green eyes widened.

"Lad, are you sure?"

"You're not fucking with me?" I asked him, and he growled in annoyance.

"None of that lad."

"It was a simple question," I told him, and he shut me out.

I looked at the road again, and my jaw nearly hit the floor.

"Bloody hell, lad, a castle!" I shouted as I parked my Jaguar. A gentleman stood on the steps and waited for us to exit my vehicle.

"Alpha Patrick?" I looked at this lad who was an inch shorter than me and shook his extended hand.

"That be me, lad," he chuckled.

"My name is Julio, the Gamma."

"Please follow me as my Alpha expects you," he said as Ryan and I followed.

Just like Alpha Ace, this lad had a strong accent I'd never heard before, and just like he chuckled at mine, I let out an amused snicker and followed him inside the massive castle.

"Lad, this castle is grand."

"How can I come by a place like this?" I asked the Gamma as he turned to look at me.

"This castle is older than I am, Alpha."

"It has been in the Silva family since Antonio's Uncle was the Alpha, so you would have to ask him," he said, leading us toward an elevator.

I looked over at Ryan as his eyes were wide as saucers, and he looked at everything in the castle.

"Fix your eyes, lad. Bloody hell," I smacked the back of his head as we stepped into the grand elevator.

I heard the Gamma snicker and saw him push a button. The doors closed, and the elevator ascended. Phelan kept pacing and whining.

"Lad, quiet that down," I told him, and he growled at me.

We barely got along and always fought, but he was my wolf, and I had to deal with him. Once we arrived on the floor, I sniffed the air and smelled caramel toffee with Phelan panting.

"Lad, what kind of candle is that?" I asked the Gamma as he looked at me, confused.

"I don't smell anything," he said, and I looked over at Ryan.

"Ryan, do you smell that lad?" he shook his head as the Gamma knocked on the door.

I heard the deep voice of the Alpha as the Gamma opened the door, and Phelan howled delightfully.

"Mate! Mate!" he said.

Carissa POV

When Catori howled mate in my head and when Julio opened the door. I sniffed the scent of leather and tobacco. It was more potent than Matthew's peppermint scent and had Catori drooling. When I saw the man standing behind Julio, my eyes widened like saucers. He was 6'4, with dark reddish hair and dark green eyes. His face had some stubble and solid muscle. He also wore a nice, tailored suit.

Alpha Patrick

"Mate," Catori howled in my head as he stared at me.

I was still healing and processing from what I went through with Matthew, and then hearing he had escaped custody sent my anxiety through the roof. But holy moon goddess, this man now standing before me was gorgeous.

"Mate," I said as he smiled and showed his perfect white teeth.

"Hello, lass," I melted at his accent. I almost fainted, and he caught me, holding me close to his chest.

"No fainting on me now, lass," he said as I stared deep into his eyes. His hand stroked my cheek, and I leaned into his touch.

"What be your name there, lass?" he asked in his smooth accent.

"Carissa," I said as he smiled.

"I'm Alpha Patrick of the Wind Howler pack."

"A pleasure to meet you, Carissa," Patrick said, weakening my knees.

He held my hand to his lips and kissed the back of it, sending shivers down my spine. I heard someone clear their throat and turned to see Ace with a wide smile.

Patrick held me close as we sat on one of the couches in the office, and I saw another man sit on the other side of Patrick and smile at me.

"This is my Beta Ryan."

"He isn't much to look at," Patrick said, smiling at me.

I was nervous because I was given a second chance, mate, and I wasn't ready for another mate bond. I kept thinking, what if Patrick is like Matthew?

"He isn't," Catori said, and I looked at Patrick as he started talking to Ace.

Patrick POV

I had my mate. She was hesitant and unsure of me. Phelan knew something, but he told me that was a story Carissa would have to tell me herself so that I would let her in her own time. I turned to the Alpha. I stared as he was tall and built like a bloody bear. His aura was immense and made Phelan whimper.

"We are here, Alpha Ace, to tell you about Blake and that bloody Alpha Silas," I watched the Alpha nod.

"I have a few spies in the Red River pack, and I can tell you they are planning something big against you," I heard the Alpha growl.

"Blake called me a few days ago, wanting my help to attack you. I told the bastard no, and he got angry with me," I laughed, and the Alpha smiled.

"My spy also told me they have some young Alpha staying with them."

"I don't know who the bloody bloke is," I heard the Alpha growl and felt Carissa stiffen beside me. I turned and looked her in the eyes as the tears started flowing.

"I know who he is," she said, and Phelan growled.

"Who is the bastard, Carissa?" I asked as she took a deep breath and began to tell me everything. Phelan was just as pissed as me when Carissa finished her story.

"The bastard is still alive!"

"Why is he even breathing!" I shouted, and Carissa stiffened beside me.

"I'm sorry, lass. Don't be afraid of me," I stroked her cheek. I took a few deep breaths to calm Phelan and me so he wouldn't scare our lass any more than she already was.

"Alpha Ace, I want to build an alliance between our packs."

"I want to kill this bastard who hurt my Carissa and castrate his nut sack and mount them on my trophy wall."

"If that little weasel ever steps foot on my pack, I'll rip his bloody head off," I growled as Ace looked at me, smirking.

A few hours later, Ace and I were allied packs, and he promised that if Wind Howler were needed, he would call us. He also invited us to stay for dinner, which made me happy because Carissa and I could get to know each other better. I know she is the former Beta's daughter and the current Beta's twin sister.

She was beautiful. She was 5'5, with red-auburn hair, lightly tanned skin, and beautiful sapphire blue eyes. Phelan was howling delightfully.

"Lad, quiet down now," I told him as he huffed and grumbled.

As Carissa and I conversed at dinner, I told her about myself. She told me she loved my accent, and I also told her I loved hers. I also learned that her Father's family is from Brazil and that the Alpha family was royalty. No wonder the young Alpha had an immense aura and a white wolf.

"How old are you, Patrick?" she asked, and I smiled at her.

"I'm 24, Carissa, and you?" she blushed and looked away.

"I'm 18," she said and ate her dinner. I smiled and kissed the back of her hand.

"I'm happy to have finally found you, Carissa. I was starting to lose hope of ever having a mate," I told her as she looked into my eyes.

"I want to come to Wind Howler," she said, laying her head on my shoulder.

"I would love that, lass," I said, kissing her head as dinner continued with laughter and conversation.
