The Reckoning of Love Chapter 56

Chapter 56 What Kind of Childish Act Was That?

As long as they behave and stop causing trouble, the sword hanging over their necks will never fall.

“Good.” Thomas nodded and asked with a smile, “Shall we go to the cafeteria now?”

Sophia was surprised by his enthusiasm for having lunch at the cafeteria. Is he trying to portray an innocent man before me? She responded with a hum and picked up her laptop bag before leaving. Just as she took a few steps, someone behind her took the laptop bag from her grip..

“With just one functional hand, save your energy. I’ll handle the carrying for you.”

She glanced at him sideways. If someone is willing to carry my bag, why not let them?

As noon approached Edgeminster, the sun broke through the thick clouds and scattered its bright rays upon the ground. Bathed in the warm sunlight, Sophia walked with a lighter heart.

After the two walked away, a thin figure emerged from behind the meeting room through a narrow passage. It was the individual who had initially posed as the troublemaker’s leader. He spat on the ground. You’ve quite a few malicious tricks, b*tch!

Scanning around, he took out his phone and dialed a number as he made his way toward the rear exit. “Hey! It’s me! Is Blaze safe now? Good to hear that. Gavin got caught because of that b*tch. She’s also the one who sabotaged him!”

No matter how good the construction site’s cafeteria was, it was merely average. Sophia looked around and decided to explore the place. Many were in the area, so as she entered, she immediately attracted many gazes,

“Whose family member is she? She’s too beautiful. How does she maintain such fair skin?”

“Not only fair but also has a great figure. Look at how well-proportioned she is. There’s not an ounce of extra fat anywhere!”

“If I could have such a perfect beauty once in a lifetime, it would be worth dying for!”

“You guys are looking for trouble! She’s the president’s secretary! She brought Gavin down!”

“Her? A woman?”

“The president’s secretary? Hehe. Isn’t the secretary there for the president’s pleasure? That’s how they show it on TV!”

Unfriendly gazes remained fixed on Sophia. Although she intended to check if the cafeteria was providing sufficient meals for the workers, she did not expect her appetite to be ruined. She put down her fork, no longer interested in eating.

Thomas glanced at her.

“Mr. Ulmer.

“Miss Yancey, I’m truly grateful for your invaluable assistance. Without your wise and decisive actions in uncovering Gavin and his accomplices, I would’ve been too overwhelmed to even report to Mr. Lynch.”

What Kind of Childish Act Was That?

Sophia was taken aback by his loud voice, which echoed through a great half of the cafeteria.

“When we return to Cleyrora, I’ll treat you to a big meal as a sincere token of gratitude!”

The gazes from the surroundings underwent a complete transformation. She snapped back to reality and lowerad her eyes, laughing. What kind of childish act was that?
