The Reckoning of Love ( Sophia Yancey )

The Reckoning of Love Chapter 36

Chapter 36 Can You Please Let Me Go

“Are you talking in your sleep or something?” Joseph reacted strongly by grabbing her chin at once. “Sophia, what we agreed on at the beginning was that you’d leave once I got married, but I’m not yet married right now. So, our relationship isn’t over yet!”

Sophia stared at the man as if his words had hit her like a thunderbolt. Joseph, do you want to listen to five the bullsh*t you’re saying?” Her eyes grew resentful. “I’ve given you my heart and soul over the past years! No matter how much you dislike me, you can’t humiliate someone like this! Do you even have a heart?”

In an instant, Joseph was at a loss for words; Sophia had never looked at him with such a look in her eyes before. “Or do you think I’m a piece of merchandise that’s always yours because you’ve spent money on me?” she continued, getting more and more agitated as she spoke. “In that case, I’ll give you back everything you gave me. Can you please let me go?”

“No!” An unprecedented fear swept over Joseph. He didn’t even know what he was afraid of; he merely answered her question instinctively.

Joseph Lynch!” yelled Sophia in a stern voice. Then, feeling her stomach churn, she shoved him away and ran to the bathroom. Not forgetting to lock the bathroom door, she leaned over the toilet and puked.

Exhausted from throwing up, she sat on the floor while gently stroking her belly. I see it now; this baby doesn’t like its daddy. It was all because he was present that I got very sick several times.

Meanwhile, after realizing what had just happened, Joseph stood up and was about to hurry to the bathroom, only to knock over Sophia’s purse by accident. The purse had a big opening, causing it to spill all its contents on the floor as soon as it tipped over.

Joseph first saw the packs of prepackaged pills. Just when he was about to pick them up, however, his gaze was drawn to the red font on an A4 paper. He picked up the paper; when he finished reading it, his face took on a frosty expression once again. All the paper contained was two pieces of information: someone had invited death by sending Sophia a death threat, and they mentioned her ‘little boyfriend’ in the

message.

Sophia pulled herself together for a while before coming out of the bathroom. Then, seeing her purse’s contents scattered all over the floor, she had her heart in her mouth right away. Those pills. She rushed over and frantically shoved the things on the floor back into her purse.

“What’s this?” Joseph handed the paper to her.

A death threat. Sophia went into the bedroom with her purse in hand.

Joseph immediately followed her inside. However, before he could ask more questions, Sophia said wearily, “Mr. Lynch, I’m really not feeling well, so I need rest. Just go ask Mr. Ulmer about this instead. He knows full well what happened.”

After throwing up so badly just now, she looked white in the face, and her eyes were red. Even if Joseph was furious over the hule boyfriend’ mentioned in the death threat, he couldn’t find it in himself to vent his anger on her

Ignoring him completely, Sophia took off her overcoal, lifted a corner of her quilt, and burrowed under it. After a while, she felt the bed sink behind her, and a familiar scent instantly enveloped her. Joseph hugged her from behled, all his violent rage having disappeared.
