The Reckoning of Love ( Sophia Yancey )

The Reckoning of Love Chapter 32

Chapter 32 Blaze Gallegos

Joseph gritted his teeth.

Everyone who knew of his relationship with Sophia likely thought that.

How could she even think about leaving him?

Since he was getting married, she should use all the tricks up her sleeve to steal his heart and make him

stay

Vivian was right; Sophia had certainly shown her true self after finding out about his engagement and changed into a completely different person.

She no longer loved him; she did not try to please him nor did she play along with his act.

In fact, she hated him so much that she would rather stay far away from him.

“Other people do not think your son is that valuable,” he retorted in a self-deprecating manner.

Vivian frowned as something about his behavior felt off.

“I don’t care what she did to bewitch you, Joseph, but this marriage between the Hathaways and Lynches is very important. I will kill anyone who dares try to ruin it!” she declared.

Joseph slammed his foot against the brake pedal, which caused the car to screech to a stop.

Thankfully, there were no cars behind him. Otherwise, someone would have crashed into him.

Vivian panicked when she heard tires screeching. Joseph! What happened?”

“Do not lay a hand on Sophia!” he spat out.

He sounded so imposing as he had never spoken to her like that before.

She had always been the one forcing things to go her way.

Before he came of age, she was in charge of the family and they had never been close.

However, they had always maintained an appearance of tranquility.

“Cut off all contact with her now!” She stubbornly insisted before hanging up, after which she made another phone call.

“Have someone keep an eye on Sophia Yancey,” she ordered.

I want her to disappear when needed!”

Sophia arrived at the hotel and unpacked.

She then informed Thomas that she had arrived at Edgeminster.

Thomas soon called her. “You’re with Gavin and the rest now?”

“No. I had an excuse to avoid interacting too much with them,” she replied.

“Smart!” He let out an audible sigh of relief. “My investigations just revealed that the person backing Gavin is the most powerful man in the city. He’s a very cruel and shady man.”

Sophia’s brows furrowed in thought.

“Stay at the hotel. I’ll be arriving around 4.00PM tomorrow,” he instructed.

“Didn’t you say you’re busy?” she asked.

“I’ve postponed it. There was static coming from his end. “You can’t handle those men on your own. Alright, stay at the hotel and wait for me.”

He hung up soon after.

She was puzzled by his response.

Thomas acted so carefree most of the time that he seemed like a stranger when he turned serious out of the blue.

She thereafter turned to her laptop as she had actually been looking into the man Thomas spoke of.

He was Blaze Gallegos, a man in his fifties. As a young man, he committed every crime possible in the area which allowed him to accumulate quite a lot of influence and money.

Once he had enough cash, he washed off his sordid past and turned into a local businessman.

At the peak of his power, he owned over half of the entertainment industry in Edgeminster.

As she was pondering about the man, a sudden knock on the door sounded.

She walked to the peephole and spotted Howard on the other side of the door.

Seeing that, she opened the door.

“Mr. Zachman,” she greeted cheerfully. “It’s not even lunchtime.”

There was a teasing tone in her voice.

Howard enjoyed the playful vibe and grinned. If he had a tail, it would be spinning round and round by

now.
