The Reborn Wife Strikes Back ( Gordon Holmes’ )

Chapter 44

Chapter 44

We got in the car and drove to the venue for the annual mid–year gala hosted by Holmes Group.

This event wasn’t just about expressing their gratitude to the clients, but it also marked the 50th anniversary of the company’s establishment. They had been planning for this event for six months.

As soon as we arrived, Gordon got busy. He told me to change and prepare for the event, but I decided to explore the venue alone since we were early.

In my previous life, I had missed this event. Despite preparing an evening gown to accompany him, I’d

suffered an allergic reaction that caused a rash to appear on my face.

He used this as an excuse to attend the gala without me.

So, I genuinely had no idea how he and Sabrina met or how they hit it off.

In this life, I arrived early to ensure I had enough time to look for Sabrina.

Since the planning department was primarily responsible for this event, I was confident Sabrina would be

nearby.

I scoped out the venue and noticed that everyone was occupied. Since I rarely appeared at Holmes Group, nobody knew I was Mrs. Holmes. But that suited me just fine–it spared me a lot of trouble.

I searched everywhere for Sabrina and finally spotted her at the venue entrance.

Her hair was tied into a high ponytail, and she wore a white outfit with matching shoes. She wore small earrings shaped like lilies, and a blue employee badge hung around her neck.

She appeared youthful and vibrant.

She was young and didn’t need to dress up extravagantly. Some makeup sufficed. Her youthful look captivated everyone who looked at her.

It wasn’t just Gordon. I also found this girl extremely beautiful when I first saw her.

Sabrina’s task for the day was likely working at the registration desk. She and another woman, about the same height, wore matching outfits as they organized registration materials and checked details.

The venue staff were bustling around, and Sabrina didn’t seem to notice me. With my stood nearby, quietly observing her every move.

Freya owned a small flower shop/ and Luke worked as a driver. Given her mother’s modest means, it seemed unlikely that Sabrina could afford expensive plano lessons to become such a skilled pianist.

While lost in thought, someone suddenly bumped into me. The champagne she was holding spilled all

over my clothes.

“Oh, gosh! I’m so sorry. I was walking and didn’t notice you. My bad.”

The woman who bumped into me hurriedly apologized.

I looked at my clothes and noticed a champagne stain on my left shoulder. It felt a bit cold, but I didn’t mind much since I intended to change into a gown later.

Glancing at the woman, she appeared youthful, perhaps just out of college like Sabrina.

Not wanting to cause a scene, I casually remarked, “Don’t worry about it. Just watch your step. It will be crowded today, so be mindful not to bump into any distinguished guests.”

“Got it. I’ll be more careful.”

She didn’t recognize me, so she quickly apologized, and I nodded in response. I was just about to leave

when a familiar voice echoed from the entrance.

“Do you

know who I am? Move aside! I’m entering now, and I must see Mr. Holmes!”

“I’m sorry, miss, but the event hasn’t started yet, and we’re not letting guests in. You may wait in the

lounge area.”

“No. I need to go to the VIP lounge right away to do my makeup. Why are you stopping me? Don’t you

know who I am to Mr. Holmes?”

The voice was loud and annoying.

I instinctively frowned and spotted Nora in a bright yellow evening gown.

She was accompanied by several assistants standing at the door, arguing with the security guard who refused her entry.

As Gordon’s wife, I preferred to stay out of the spotlight, unlike this troublemaker, who thrived on stirring up drama.

Simply because there were rumors about her and my husband, she behaved as though she was his wife,

Mrs. Holmes.

I wondered where she found the nerve to act like this.

My blood boiled, and without a second thought, I strode over.
