The Reborn Wife Strikes Back ( Gordon Holmes’ )

Chapter 40

Chapter 40

This couldn’t go on any longer, and I was determined to escape Gordon’s clutches.

Opening my eyes, I quickly surveyed my surroundings and finally fixed my gaze on the bathroom.

I remembered he had dragged me under the shower and drenched me in cold water until I regained consciousness from the drug effects at the first moment of my rebirth.

With that in mind, today seemed like a good opportunity to give him a taste of the disorienting sensation of cold water splashing over his head.

A devilish idea formed in my mind, bringing a subtle smirk to my lips.

I started to feign compliance, subtly shifting toward the direction of the bathroom as I did.

Gordon noticed the change in my actions, his eyes shimmering with suspicion.

I seized the moment to wriggle free from his grasp and gesture toward the bathroom.

He caught on instantly, a meaningful smile spreading across his face.

He lifted me effortlessly and carried me into the bathroom, setting me on the edge of the bathtub before leaning in for a fervent kiss.

At this moment, he was wholly engulfed in passion while I was more alert than ever.

Taking the opportunity, I reached for the showerhead and stood up

I then turned on the faucet to its fullest and aimed the icy jet straight at Gordon’s head.

Gordon, you need to cool off!” I exclaimed, quickly stepping back.

“Gordon, you’ve been drugged. Don’t blame me, alright? I didn’t do it on purpose. Forget about it tonight. There’s no way I’m letting you touch me. You’ll just have to hold off,”

The showerhead became my weapon as I adjusted the water to its highest pressure and continued to

shout at him.

Hadn’t he done the same to me before, using the showerhead to drench me mercilessly?

Hadn’t he sworn he would never lay a hand on me?

Well, I certainly had no interest in his touch now, wishing nothing more than for him to stay far away from

  1. me

I sprayed him relentlessly, leaving him with no chance to retaliate.

He leaned against the wall, utterly drenched and disheveled.

He covered his face as he was unable even to open his eyes, let alone focus on me.

I kept the water pouring on him for about a minute.

Chapter 40

As the cold water hit him, he gradually began to sober up, the flush fading from his face.

He seemed to snap out of his wildness, suddenly looking up at me with a cold, furious gaze.

That look was terrifying.

I realized I needed to make my escape before it was too late.

“Taylor!”

He spat out my name, his hands clenched.

He stood under the cold shower, radiating an icy aura.

“Gordon, this is on you. Blame the late–night effects of your mother’s soup!”

nas

I threw down the showerhead, shouting as I made a swift exit from the bathroom.

This prank filled me with a bittersweet satisfaction as I wasn’t sure of how Gordon would react once he

returned to his senses.

I quickly retreated to the guest room, locking the door behind me.

Whatever discomfort he faced that night was none of my concern.

All that mattered was that I was comfortable.

I didn’t feel an ounce of guilt.

Instead, I fell into a peaceful sleep on the guest bed.

Whether Gordon could sleep that night, how he might blame me or get angry with me, was no longer my

concern.

My sleep was deep and sweet. I was even dreaming at one point.

In the dream, Gordon turned into a puppy wagging its tail, pleading for affection in front of me.

I fed him treats non–stop while continuously saying, “Good boy, Gordon_”

That dream felt so delightfully satisfying, leaving me longing for more upon waking

The moment I got up from the bed, I thought about how I’d pranked Gordon the night before, which made me feel a bit guilty.

I instinctively checked the time and learned it was already over 9:00 am.

He must have left by now, right?
