The Reborn Wife Strikes Back ( Gordon Holmes’ )

Chapter 19

Chapter 19

“Dad, I’m worried about Taylor, that maidservant. She seems to be getting involved in company business lately, and I’m not sure that’s a good idea!”

“She’s just a young woman. What does she know about business? A young woman like her wouldn’t have the capacity to grasp the intricacies of company affairs. Two weeks, tops, and she’ll be off to something

else”

“No, Dad, something’s different about her now! She’s not as easily fooled as before. Ever since she started working at the company, Uncle has been treating me differently.

“He now agrees with her on everything. You weren’t at the meeting today, but she opposed me throughout, and Uncle sided with her. It’s frustrating!”

“Let’s keep an eye on her a little longer. If it really is as you describe, we might have to act sooner rather than later. After all, it’s risky to nurture a snake in one’s bosom, especially with the Holmes family’s

backing.”

“The Holmes family doesn’t value her that much. It’s just that Nora is useless. She’s been close to Gordon for so long, yet there’s been no real progress. At this rate, who knows when Gordon will divorce Taylor.”

“I do have a way to deal with Taylor…” Willard’s voice suddenly lowered.

I was standing at the side door, trying to listen carefully to what he was going to say next. But just then, there was a gust of wind, and I couldn’t hear what he was discussing with Mona.

However, I could vaguely feel they were planning to take action against me.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t grasp the specifics of their scheme.

As footsteps grew closer, it was clear they had devised a plan and were now heading my way.

Going downstairs now would likely result in them spotting me.

In a rush, I swiftly hid behind the door.

The terrace was seldom visited and accessible only to those with permission for the top–floor offices, sol they were unguarded and didn’t expect my presence.

As they descended the stairs, I watched Willard’s retreating figure, feeling a swirl of emotions.

Apart from my parents, Willard had always been the most caring toward me.

He would bring back treats and toys from his trips, take me to amusement parks, and surprise me on my birthdays.

His affection for me surpassed even that for his daughter, Mona.

I had always considered him the best uncle in the world. But I never imagined that behind the facade of familial love, everyone wore a mask driven by their own interests.

Chapter 19

We found out they were eating at Almond Bay Restaurant, a secluded restaurant in Sobrough City. It was celebrated for its sophisticated ambiance and steep prices.

The only hurdle was reaching the restaurant. Tucked away in a forest on the city’s fringes, Almond Bay required traversing a winding mountain road.

As it was nearly time for dinner, I wasted no time and headed out.

As I entered the lobby, I spotted Gordon’s secretary, Landon Johnson, placing the order.

He was clearly surprised to see me but managed a polite greeting. “Mrs. Holmes, what brings you here?”

“I believe Mr. Holmes is dining here. Would it be possible to find out which room he’s in?” I asked him

directly

“Madam, Mr. Holmes isn’t here. Where did you hear such information?” Landon faltered.

Memories of my previous unannounced visits to Gordon probably flashed through his mind, his nerves on

edge.

Just then, a waiter approached Landon, inquiring, “Sir, is room six ready for their meal?”

“Room six… Thank you, Landon!”

Without awaiting his response, I offered a smile, lightly patted his shoulder, and made my way to room six

“Mrs. Holmes, please hold on. Mr. Holmes is engaged in a meeting tonight, and it might not be appropriate for you to…”

By that time, Landon realized what was happening and quickly followed me, calling out.

However, I had already reached the door of room six

Without waiting for him to stop me, I pushed the door open and entered.

“Mr. Holmes, I tried my best to stop her, but Mrs. Holmes insisted on coming in!”

Landon followed me in, clearly panicked, probably fearing Gordon’s reprimand. He desperately tried to justify himself.

Gordon was wearing a dark cyan suit and seated in the center of the room.

His facial features were sculpturally handsome yet stern, and his deep eyes sharply focused on me. He emitted a divine and noble air akin to a king’s, seeming striking in any setting.

Even more captivating was Nora at Gordon’s side. Her wavy hair cascaded down her shoulders, framing at figure accentuated by a daring cut–out evening gown.

Suddenly, it all made sense

No wonder he personally came to negotiate for this drama–it was all for Nora!
