Chapter 16
Chapter 16
We hadn’t met yet at this point in my previous life, so I couldn’t help but feel curious about her past.
I smiled slightly. “Oh, I’m sorry. I just felt like I’ve seen it before and wanted to take a closer look.”
I quietly observed Sabrina. She was as slim as me, with skin even fairer than mine. Her big eyes looked pure and dreamy, but the tenacity and resilience in her gaze seemed beyond her years, lending her an air of sophistication and elegance,
“It’s okay. You can look at anything else except that one,” Sabrina said indifferently, her face showing a hint of annoyance as if she wasn’t in a good mood.
The young man pulled her arm and pleaded, “Sabree, don’t be angry. It’s not that I’m not working hard enough. It’s jus
just that it doesn’t seem to make a difference even when I try my best.
“I’ve taken dozens of clients to view houses in the past few days, but they’re all so picky. In the end, none
of them rented. It feels like all my efforts are in vain.”
“If doing business was that easy, wouldn’t everyone be earning tens of thousands by now? As long as you’re willing to work hard, among all those clients you’ve shown houses to, some are surely willing to
close deals.
“If you keep playing games every day like this, when will we ever be able to afford a house? Do you even want to get married? Or do you simply not care about me at all?”
Sabrina seemed to have pent–up anger as she shouted at the young man. Her face flushed red with frustration. Clearly, his lack of ambition disappointed her.
But there was no need for her to be disappointed. Soon, she would smoothly climb the social ladder with Gordon. He could easily buy her not just a house, but an entire building if he wished.
“How could I not care about you? It’s just that the house prices in Sobrough City are so high. I’m afraid I won’t be able to afford a house in my lifetime.
“Sabree, why don’t you and your mom come to my hometown with me? Although it’s a third–tier city, we already have a house there, so there’s no need to buy one. We can also get good jobs…”
The young man apparently didn’t have ambitious dreams of making it big in this city. He tried to persuade Sabrina, but she angrily interrupted him.
“You know what, Nathan? I hate it when you talk about going back home. If you want to go, you can go back anytime, even now! Just leave, I don’t want to see you anymore!”
After saying that, Sabrina angrily pushed Nathan Jones out of the shop and closed the glass door.
Nathan stood at the door, looking at her with a mix of sadness and helplessness. After a while, he huffed and walked away angrily.
Sabrina stood on the other side of the door with her arms crossed. As she watched Nathan leave, her eyes welled up. I could tell she did care about Nathan.
Chapter 16
“At his age, it’s normal to enjoy playing and not have much ambition. Why are you forcing him?” Freya walked over to comfort her daughter.
“Mom, with Nathan being like this, when will we ever afford a house in Sobrough City? I’m tired of renting all the time. I don’t care. I’ll break up with him if he doesn’t start working harder!” Sabrina said frustratingly.
I quietly observed this slim girl. Although young, she had an unyielding spirit that refused to be overshadowed by others.
She wiped away the tears from her face. Her pitiful expression likely stirred men’s hearts, especially successful ones.
So, Gordon was fond of this tenacious and unyielding wildflower type…
As I pondered this, Freya said quietly, “I’ve told you before, if it doesn’t work out, it’s better to break up
early.
“If you find someone local from Sobrough City, you won’t have to worry about buying a house. They might even help your brother. But you just won’t listen.”
I had expected Freya to encourage reconciliation, but this seemingly gentle woman turned out to be much more realistic than I had imagined.
Sabrina wiped her tears. She glanced at me, probably noticing my gaze, then whispered to Freya while. tugging her sleeve, “Mom, there’s still a customer in the shop. We’ll talk about this later.
“I’ve invited Kade from our company to check out our flowers. The company plans to purchase a large. quantity of fresh flowers for office decoration in the long term. This is a big deal for us, so we need to try
to secure this business.”
Kade? Was he an employee from Holmes Group’s purchasing department?
Recalling the fresh flowers in Gordon’s office in my previous life, I suddenly understood.
Today was indeed the right time to come.
At that moment, the shop door was pushed open. A bald man in his 30s walked in.
His eyes lit up when he saw Sabrina. He exclaimed, “Sabrina, is this the flower shop you and your mother run? Not bad. It’s small but looks elegant.”
“Kade, you’re here already! I was just telling my mom how you’ve been such a great help ever since I Joined Holmes Group. My mom wants to thank you.”
Sabrina greeted him warmly, her arrogance from earlier replaced by enthusiasm.
This young lady appeared delicate but seemed experienced in the ways of the world. Just a moment ago, she hadn’t discussed anything with her mother.
I felt like I had learned something new.
From their conversation, I deduced that Kade was a senior employee in the purchasing department at Holmes Group. He appeared to have feelings for Sabrina and often found excuses to touch her shoulder.

I felt like I had learned something new.
From their conversation, I deduced that Kade was a senior employee in the purchasing department at Holmes Group. He appeared to have feelings for Sabrina and often found excuses to touch her shoulder
during their interaction.
Sabrina might have looked sweet and innocent, but she was seriously good at handling people. She and her mom teamed up and had Kade wrapped around their finger in no time.
He promised to add their shop to the preferred supplier list and submit the application to the higher–ups.
I stayed in the flower shop for over half an hour, maintaining a low profile.
Thankfully, I rarely visited Holmes Group and had never appeared in public with Gordon. So, Kade didn’t recognize me and had no idea I was currently the wife of Holmes Group’s boss.
After Kade left, I casually selected a bouquet of fresh flowers, pald for it, and left the shop.
In my previous life, Kade’s purchase application was approved, giving Sabrina the opportunity to meet. Gordon every day.
This time, I wouldn’t allow such a good opportunity to happen to Sabrina again.
After leaving the flower shop, I directly called Eddie Palmer, the head of the purchasing department at Holmes Group.
While the lower–level employees might not recognize me, the senior management had seen me at my wedding with Gordon.
As soon as I identified myself, Eddie’s tone instantly became respectful over the phone. “Mrs. Holmes, I didn’t expect you to call me. Please let me know if you have any instructions.”
“Eddie, I’ve heard that Holmes Group is looking for a fresh flower supplier?” I asked with a smile in my
voice.
“Yes, yes. How did you know about such a trivial matter?” Eddie was confused and immediately asked.
“Well, I have a friend who runs a flower garden in the suburbs. The flowers are fresh, and the prices are reasonabl
“Since cost control is being promoted these days, Holmes Group should follow suit. I’ll give you my friend’s contact information, and you can compare the prices.”
After I finished speaking, I promptly sent Selena’s phone number to Eddie.
Selena’s family was engaged in the gardening business, but she chose not to participate in the family. enterprise. Instead, she cultivated fresh flowers in the suburbs and planned to establish a homestay
within the flower fields.
Her flowers were likely cheaper than those in Freya’s flower shop, no matter what.
Moreover, I was the one who was introducing a supplier to Eddie. As long as he wasn’t foolish, he would understand my intentions and would certainly not choose to collaborate with small businesses like Freya’s shop.
This visit wasn’t in vain.
On Sabrina and Gordon’s path to falling in love, I had created yet another obstacle. I couldn’t predict how
Chapte 16
fate would arrange the next scene, allowing this pair of star–crossed lovers to meet. Deep within my heart, a hint of mischievous anticipation arose.
