Chapter 23
Chapter 27
Nadia’s younger self should have known better but she did not. Who would have thought that the Lyra she thought was her friend would end up having her get killed by the man she loved the most?
“If you’re ready, let’s do this” the leader said to her as she walked over to the cliff. Nadia nodded and walked the tree. “That’s not where you’re to start from” the leader told her. Nadia turned her head to the see the leader and then let her gaze follow the leader’s hands. The leader pointed to the cliff. Nadia wanted to say no again but then, she turned to Lyra who was smiling at her. Lyra gave her a thumbs i
as she stood there and that, was enough for the Nadia to do the dare they had all challenged her to do.
She walked away from the tree and was headed towards the cliff. She got down on her knees and started crawling backwards to the edge of the cliff. She had gotten there as she pushed one leg out. It was now hanging from the cliff. She pushed the other leg out and now, she was almost hanging off the cliff. “You can do this!” Lyra shouted from the group. Nadia looked up at her supposed friend who was smiling and cheering. Everyone else was laughing out loud. She smiled. It gave her courage as she then pushed her whole b*dy out and was now hanging off the cliff.
Nadia grabbed the red clothe and threw it over the edge of the cliff. Everyone started to hail her. She could not see them but she heard how everyone sounded happy after she had just pushed the red cloth over the cliff. She smiled. She had done it and was now! one of them. She shouted out loud and her voice echoed through the valley that was below her. The sudden echo back of her voice caused her tiny frame to shake, making her to let: of one hand. She must have forgotten she was on a cliff as she tried to hold. it back and the sand in that spot melted to dust. She was now pulling at the cliff’s edge with all her weight on one hand.
Young Nadia was light weight but she could not carry her own weight. She started to swing from the edge of the cliff as she tried to balance herself but soon realized that her hands were sl*pping. She tried to hang on but she felt herself slowly letting go. She was now shaking as fear had started to creep in.
“Help me!!! Help me please!! Help!!” She called for the attention of the other girls. The leader bent over to have a look at her face. “What’s going on?” She asked Nadia. Nadia explained everything to her. She was slowly sl*pping and her fingers were now getting tired. The leader paused for a moment and then started laughing. Her laughed was confusing to Nadia.
“Aren’t you suppose to climb back up by yourself? That’s the rule. No one will help you. You either climb back up or die. You can’t be useless to the pack. If you’re so useless you can’t climb back up, sl*p through and die” Nadia watched the group leader finish talking as she stood up and walked away. It became a total shock to Nadia as she felt she had. just worn the heart of the group and their leaders.

Chapter 27
She tried to get up just as she had been told but it was difficult. She just could not. She called out again for help but this time, no one laughed or came to help her. She tried fo call for help again and again but no one came. Suddenly, she heard a voice. Someone might have still been there. She shouted, “Please help me!! Please!! I am about to fall off this cl*p and I can not do this” she said. She heard footsteps as someone walked closer and then a face looked down at her. It was Lyra’s. Nadia instantly became happy. Her friend was there to help her.
“Lyra please help me. Please, I can’t get back up.” She said to her friend. Lyra smiled. She said she could try but she wasn’t sure she could pull her up.
“If I don’t get this right, both of us would fall off this cliff and die. How about you hang on there, let me go find someone?” She said to Nadia. Nadia smiled, she believed her friend. She nodded as she tried to hold on and wait for her friend. Immediately, Lyra got on her feet and ran off, promising that she would come back with someone to help save her. Nadia had fate in her friend and so, she no longer called for help or struggled, “Lyra would come back for me” she said to herself as she held on to the ground above her head.
Nadia had hung from that cliff for close to five minutes waiting for her friend to come back but there was no sign of Lyra. She wondered why. She waited for what felt like an extra five minutes but still, her friend did not show up. There were no signs of her coming back. Nadia started to feel sad and cry. Her palms started to sweat because she was now nervous and as she looked down at the valley below her, she started to panick.
Because she was panicking, the moisture in her hand grew and truly, now, she was sl*pping. Her hand started to move.
Out of fear of actually falling, Nadia started to shout again. She screamed and begged the moon goddess to save her as she was slowly sl*pping through. Her hand was now at the edge of the cliff. She stopped crying as she closed her eyes. It looked like that was going to be the end of the road for her and so she closed her eyes to pray.
“May the moon goddess receive my Spirit and that of my wolf, in the moon and Waters name. May I experience eternal rest till I awake again” she said. Nadia opened her eyes and breath her last breathe, ready to fall off the cliff completely when someone stuck out their hand and saved her.
The figured pulled her back up and carried her away.
