Chapter 14
Lucian stepped out onto the stage, looking out over the gathered crowd with a smile that could only be described as beatific. The performers had. done an amazing job, and he wanted to congratulate them personally. He stepped forward, clapping his hands and shouting out his praise for the impressive show.
The crowd cheered as he began to dance, and soon he was lost in the music and the movement. He twirled and turned, his feet tapping out a joyful beat on the wooden planks of the stage. He was lost in the moment, and he felt as though he was part of the show.
Suddenly, a voice from the crowd shouted out, “Dance with your mate! Dance with Lyra!” Startled, Lucian looked out at the crowd, searching for the voice that had spoken. He saw a figure standing in the center of the throng, and he recognized her immediately. It was Lyra.
Lucian smiled and called out to the guards. “Bring my mate to me!” he said with a laugh. The guards nodded and soon they had brought Lyra to the stage, where she was greeted with cheers from the crowd.
Lucian took Lyra’s hand and twirled her around in a grand waltz. The music soared and they moved together in perfect harmony. As they danced, the crowd cheered them on and clapped along in time with the
music.
But then, disaster struck. As they spun around, Lyra’s foot caught on the edge of the stage and she stumbled forward. Lucian tried to catch her, but it was too late. Lyra hit the ground with a thud, landing hard on her stomach.
The crowd gasped, and Lucian felt a chill run down his spine. Lyra was already pregnant, and he feared the fall had harmed her unborn child. He rushed to her side, cradling her in his arms and calling for a physician.
It seemed like everything was going according to plan for Lyra as she smiled while she laid on the ground. She had a few minutes to get into character before they discovered she was a fake..

Lyra immediately got into character as she turned and bursted one of the bags open. She let out a loud moan to accompany the thud that had been seen by the crowd and her husband.
She made it seem like she had just felt a sharp pain through her abdomen and she felt a rush of blood flowing from her stomach.
The people around her gasped in horror at the sight of the blood and hurried to help her up. But Lyra refused their assistance, knowing that she needed to remain on the ground and pretend to have lost the baby. She fought back the tears that threatened to fall and held her breath in order to remain composed.
Just then, a voice boomed out across the clearing. It was Lucian, her mate, and alpha of the pack. Immediately, all the people around her stepped back and allowed Lucian to come to her. He knelt beside her and gently brushed the hair away from her face. He could see the pain in her eyes
and knew she had done as he had asked.

He carefully scooped her up in his arms and carried her back to their den. All the while, Lyra clung to him, acting as though she was too afraid to let When they arrived home, Lucian laid her on their bed and used his healing powers to soothe her until the healers arrived. Lyra felt a wave of relief wash over her and when she saw her husband approaching again, she started to break down.
Lucian held her as she cried, comforting her with his words. After a few moments, Lyra finally settled down and Lucian told her that she was devastated and was sorry that she had lost the baby and jeopardized the future of their pack…
Lyra nodded, understanding the pain she was going through as he tried to console her, telling her it was maybe for the greater good. She looked at him with tender eyes, he sounded so pure and emphatic, almost as though she could trust him. Would he be able to protect her?
A few minutes passed and the healers walked in.

mate. Tears welled up in his eyes as he watched them gently try to remove her clothes, she protested and he wondered why?
On the outside, he could see the full extent of her injuries now, and it made his heart ache but he could not tell for sure until they opened her
up.
He wished he could do something, but he knew he had to trust the healers.
Lyra was asked to remove her clothes again but she protested and that made him suspicious. She suggested they let her go to another room and remove her clothes.
They agreed and she came back n*ked and with stains in between her thighs.
She asked that the healers beg the alpha to excuse her, which he did. He stood outside watching.
The healers worked quickly, but even their combined efforts weren’t enough to stop the bleeding or so he thought. Lucian could see the worry in their faces, and his own worry grew. He wanted to do something. anything, to help her, but he felt powerless.
The healers finished their work, and Lucian saw a glimmer of hope in their eyes. He watched as they wrapped her in bandages and put her on a stretcher. He followed them out of the room, his heart pounding in his
chest.
They loaded Lyra into a cart and Lucian followed them as they pulled it through the streets. He could feel the eyes of the people around them, and he wanted to shout out that she was going to be alright. But he knew he couldn’t. He had to remain silent and let the healers do their work.
Finally, they reached another healer’s home. The healers carried her inside and Lucian waited anxiously outside. He felt helpless as he watched. the healers enter and close the door behind them.
He waited for what felt like an eternity, and when the door opened again, he ran towards it. He was relieved to see Lyra, alive and conscious. But as he looked closer, he realized that something was wrong.

The healers ushered him out of the room and he reluctantly left, feeling like a failure. He had failed to protect his mate, and now he didn’t know what was going to happen. He only knew that something was very wrong, and he had no idea how to fix it.
Lucian walked through the streets, his heart heavy with worry. He had no idea what the future held, and he was left with a mystery that he didn’t know how to resolve.

Lyra smiled as Lucian walked out of the room. She had successfully fooled. him into thinking she had lost the baby.
“You did great today, honey” the healer said to her. She looked at him with a stern face. “Excuse me? Did I hear you clearly? How dare you call your Luna, honey?” She asked him.
The healer smiled to her and then took off his mask and hat. Lyra smiled as she saw that the healer turned out to be Aiden. She laughed as she hit her hand on her lap repeatedly.
“How could you fool me that way?” She asked him. Aiden gave her a smile as he bent over to k*ss her deeply. “I had to make sure you were still mine. You did really well, my love. I watched you the whole time, I nearly gave you a round of applause while I sat at the gathering. Well-done” he said to -her.
“Is he gone? Is Lucian home for good?” She asked as she covered her mouth, she was about to laugh and wanted to make sure the coast was clear. She gestured to him to move to the door and confirm again.
Aiden smiled as he creeped slowly to the door and opened it slowly. He stuck his head out the door to check as he swung his head left and right. The coast was clear. He pulled his head back and turned to look at her, “He left. He left eversince” he said to her. Lyra uncovered her mouth as she bursted out laughing.
“Did you see the look on his face? He must have thought he really lost a child with me? He must be thinking I am devasted by this! Foolish man!!” She said as she started another round of father.
Aiden let out small chuckles as he smiled and listened to her.
“I did great right?!.. well, I also have the people you hired to thank. They did a good pretending they were really healers. Where did you find them? We need them Incase I need them again?! Keep them close. They might come in handy” she said to him. Aiden smiled, he nodded, “Anything you wish, my love. All I do is to please you’
