Chapter 125
Blair POV
I was dragged into a large truck, along with several other young female girls, all omegas, our hands restrained with silver cuffs, all but me. Having no wolf had some advantages, my hands were merely tied with rope as they decided I posed no threat. We sat in a line in the back, staring at each other, the other girl's fearful. I was pissed. "Where do you think we are going" one whispered, her voice cracking.
She couldn't have been any older than seventeen, eighteen at the most, I thought with sympathy. The other girls were around the same age as well.
"Who cares, we all know that we're going to be made into breeders," another girl said gloomily, her face staring at the floor, a hint of disgust and resentment in her tone "They don't give a damn what happens to us, nobody does. We're just omegas."
"That's a lie," I said sharply, staring her in the face as she glanced at me in surprise, her long brunette hair parting to reveal her green eyes "The breeding program was made illegal to prevent this from happening. My mate will find us and when he does, you'll all be freed" I promised them. A mocking laugh came from her "Who is your mate? He's probably dead by now" she added hatefully "seeing as they saw fit to drug him."
I refused to look away from her "I doubt that's enough to kill the Alpha King" I said and she inhaled sharply while small gasps were heard around me.
Our bodies bounced as the truck hit a large pothole and I groaned, feeling pain shoot through my body as the other girls let out a pained cry. "f**k" I hissed.
My body was feeling hot. I looked around at the cramped truck, as I began to sweat profusely. The truck swerved and everybody went flying, except for me as I collapsed onto the floor, my body writhing as heat began to flare inside of me. It hurt. The heat was intolerable and it suddenly occurred to me that it wasn't because of the inside of the truck. The other girls looked at me nervously now.
One dared to approach and put her hand on me, only to draw it back as she let out a hiss. "She's burning," she said in a low voice.
The girls shuffled to the other end of the truck. A voice began to sound in my head as I gritted my teeth, trying not to scream. Pain ricocheted through my body.
Don't fight me, Blair, don't fight the shift. I'm sorry, this isn't the best timing, but now you're marked you're strong enough to become a wolf. Are you my wolf?
My name is Dusk and it's nice to meet you. Sorry, I'll try to take some of the pain away but it's going to hurt. "Everybody get as far away as you can" I burst out and the girls hurried to obey as I clenched my jaw, my foot breaking and causing a muffled scream from me. I had never experienced such agony before. I had seen somebody shift before for the first time and I knew how long it could take, and I was bracing myself for the long hours, but my bones were breaking fast, adjusting quicker than should have been possible and fur was growing on my flesh. Not the color fur I expected either. What was going on?
The last part of the shift was the most painful. I flung back my head and screamed as the shift was completed. The girls were avoiding looking at me, my body taking up a large portion of the truck and even causing the container to bulge out the sides. I let out a furious roar and heard the truck stop. Power surged through me. I felt invincible. Luckily I had shifted while facing the doors. The girls were behind me, protected. I stared down at my paws in awe. They were pure black. I was an Alpha wolf. But how was such a thing possible? I had to have been from an Alpha bloodline for the change to occur. It was a conundrum I would have to solve another day. I heard the doors opening and leaped, sending the doors crashing off their hinges as the men who were taking us began to swear and shout in panic.
There were several of them. All warriors and all from the pack we had just lifted. Evidently, they were trusted enough to take us to a different location. I snarled as they began to gather their wits and shift themselves. The other girls couldn't shift because of the silver cuffs and there were six warriors in total. I didn't hesitate. I killed the first one out of instinct. We were pulled to the side of a dirt road, in the forest and I took advantage, leaping onto the back of the second one and digging my claws into him, clamping my jaws onto his neck and tearing away until he collapsed onto the floor, leaving four of them to deal with.
I grinned, feeling wicked and strong. The four warrior wolves looked worried and careful. They knew that I was an Alpha wolf. Two turned tail and ran. The other two attacked in tandem. I swung my paw at one and sent it flying into a nearby tree, his body hitting it with a thud. The other wolf managed to get it's claws into me and I snarled, using my hind legs to kick him off and send him sprawling. The first wolf got to its feet, limping and I raced towards it, tackling it to the floor and clamping my jaws around its neck, quickly breaking it before he could try to defend itself against me, leaving just a solitary wolf who was attempting to sneak up behind me.
I turned as he jumped and rolled, swiping at his midsection, leaving deep gouges as blood poured out of its wounds. It fell and awkwardly got to its feet. A plain silver wolf, its fur was stained with blood. It looked pitiful. For a moment, I felt a flash of empathy towards it.
