Chapter 106
Blair
POV
My heart melted. He cupped my chin and stroked my cheek. "Shouldn't you have some security with you or bodyguards?" I asked in concern.
He snorted. "I'm perfectly capable of looking after myself, it's you I'm worried about. Are Baxter and Buster doing a good job?" he asked, turning to look at the two men who were shifting on their seats and looking worriedly at each other.
"Oh yeah" Sierra quipped with a mischievous grin as the poor guys flinched and looked at her dismayed "We're all in a poly relationship with Blair now, don't you know, so I hope you know how to share" she teased Braedon.
Now my mate looked confused as all of us girls convulsed with laughter. I wiped tears from my eyes. "I'll explain it to you later" I murmured as he just nodded looking lost.
"Well, are you finished?" Braedon asked, looking at everyone "I want to visit a jewelry store or two while I'm here" he said casually.
I saw Sierra elbow Josie and glance at her meaningfully. "We were thinking of splitting up," she said easily "Josie and I want to check out some clothing stores. Why don't we meet up at the front entrance in two hours?" she suggested,"we should be done by then." Braedon considered it "Sure, but Baxter goes with you and Buster stays with us," he said pinning the girls with a gaze as Baxter began to look dejected "That way I can ensure everybody's safety."
"Who does he think's going to attack us here in the open?" Sierra muttered to Josie "A horny schoolboy?" she asked incredulously.
Josie shushed her, looking sideways at Braedon who was studiously pretending not to have heard her. Baxter hung his head and began to follow behind them, looking resigned, bags in hand. Buster calmly began to walk along behind my mate and me, as Braedon took hold of my hand and began to walk straight toward a jewelry store nearby.
"Why do we need to go to a jewelry store?" I asked puzzled.
Jewelry was something that had never really interested me before, but to be honest, perhaps it was because until I met Braedon, I never really had the money to spend on it. He just smiled and led me inside, looking mysterious.
The store was high end but I expected nothing less. As the Alpha King, Braedon would not have low standards and everything he wore was high quality. A saleswoman spotted him and practically drooled, causing me to stiffen. I didn't like the way she was eyeing Braedon as though he was a horse she wanted to mount. I glowered at her. She gave him a disarming smile, ignoring me completely. "Good day Sir, how can I assist you" she beamed.
I glared even harder. Braedon gave her an easygoing grin, wrapping his arm around my waist and causing the woman's smile to slip slightly. "I was wondering if we could have a look at some of your bracelets."
I breathed a sigh of relief. So we weren't here to look at rings then. What a relief. We weren't at that stage of our relationship yet. The woman was disgruntled now as she led us over to the bracelets. We looked them over. Braedon eyed the gold ones but the white gold caught my eye and rose gold ones. He noticed and moved me closer so I could view them. The woman sniffed, "the gold ones are much more suited to your complexion" she told me haughtily as I chose to ignore her.
Yeah right, I thought with some amusement and a hint of disdain. She just wanted the commission the expensive gold would give her. I ignored her and stared at the bracelets. There was an unusual piece that was in rose gold that glimmered beneath the light. Instead of being a plain bracelet, it wrapped around your wrist several times and was a mixture of thick and thin giving it a boho look. My fingers itched to touch it. Braedon was surprised. It wasn't the most expensive piece in the room by any means but it was unique and it spoke to me. I pointed to it, bringing itto his attention.
"We'll have a closer look at this one," he said firmly, pointing to the bracelet catching my eye.
She slowly pulled it out, looking irritable, her nose high in the air. Braedon plucked it from its case and held it out for me. "Try it on" he urged with a smile.
I held out my wrist and he placed it on me. It was perfect. It fit comfortably and wouldn't come off easily. It looked as though it was glowing on my skin and I loved it. I fell in love with it instantly. Braedon saw the look in my eyes. He chuckled. "I think that we'll be taking this one," he said with a small shrug as the woman gave a long suffering sigh "It looks like it was made for her" he added, kissing me on the forehead.
I hesitantly took it off, handing it back to the saleswoman. She placed it back in its box and then took it to the register. Braedon went to pay while I stood with Buster and then came back with the bag. He smirked at me "You get this later" he said teasingly as I sulked "I have one more errand to do" he added, glancing at his watch "Buster, do you think you can take Blair here to the front entrance while I go. It willonly take a minute" he added, glancing at me.
"I'll just go with you," I said but he shook his head.
"It's a surprise," he said gruffly "so you're not allowed to come with me."
I frowned at him. Buster just nodded. I sighed. "It's too early to wait out the front. We didn't spend much time in the store" I said as I pointed that out.
Braedon glanced at his watch again. "No problem, I'll mind-link Sierra and Josie to come and meet you," he said nonchalantly.
Oh. I had forgotten he could do that. Damn. Buster nodded. "Yes sir. Come along Miss Blair" he said kindly "We shall wait for Sir at the front entrance."
He was careful not to say your highness in front of the humans. Braedon nodded and then turned on his heel and walked away before I could utter another word. Damnit. I allowed Buster to walk me back towards the front entrance, wondering what Braedon was up to now. Why was he being so secretive? I bit my lip, my imagination going into overdrive. The blasted man knew what I had been up to, having seen the bags that Buster was carrying. My surprise was ruined.
We reached the front entrance and waited. I glanced around feeling uneasy for some reason. Buster looked at ease but I felt my stomach clenching. Something felt wrong. Off. I glanced towards the crowd of people leaving the mall and saw the last person I expected to see coming towards me, a wide smile on her face and a glint in her eyes. Great. What was she doing here? I braced myself for the inevitable confrontation, a gleam in my eyes. If she thought I would be cowed by her presence then she had another thing coming. Let her do her worst, I was more than ready.
