The Proud Boss Lady.

Chapter 39: 39

"Noah, what's up with the bags?" Soraya asked entering the house. It had been three days he last saw or heard from him and she was declining her calls as well.

"I'm leaving, I feel I'm not needed here anymore. I can't keep living in a home that's not mine and feeling like I am living off of you, so I decided to go to my apartment," he told.

"And you didn't think to inform me beforehand?" she rudely asked.

"With all due respect, Soraya I have been trying to reach you. It's been three good days and you've refused to take my calls. I know you're no longer interested in what we had, but it's just right to let me know." he replied as she stood looking at him without saying a word.

"It was fun while it lasted. Have fun with him," he said walking towards the door with his bags.

"And oh, show him some respect, he deserves it. Enough of being rude to people." he turned towards the door and opened it heading out.

"I could--

"I could drop you at home," she said catching up with him

"Umm, no thanks I called a cab. Be safe though." Noah told as the cab driver picked his bags into the car. Noah sat at the back seat of the car watching his surroundings for the last time as the driver drove off. I had some good memories here though.

"Hey Freya, bye Freya," Zed said hurriedly walking away thinking she was going to talk about them moving to the next step.

"Wow, what a great way to greet a friend." sarcasm dripped from her tone.

"It's not gonna work out Freya." he found himself saying.

"I didn't come to beg for that. I came to have a business brunch with a potential investor," she told him.

"I hope Soraya makes you happy this time around. It was nice seeing you, buddy." she tapped him on his shoulder and headed into the restaurant.

As much as I'm hurt

I thought it would be worse than this

But I'm glad he told me he's moved on

It's time I did same.

"Thank God. I was panicking because I thought you were caught up in traffic." Carla sighed in relief.

"Oh no, I was just talking to Zed," she told

"I saw him earlier, it seemed he was rushing off to somewhere or coming back from somewhere and he didn't want no one to see him," Carla added. "Yeah, he was with Soraya." she smiled tight-lipped.

"I'm so ---

"Don't, he already made his choice so it's fine." she stopped her as the investor walked towards their table.

He sat down taking off his shades and smiling. To Freya's surprise, it was....

"Noah?!" she exclaimed shocked.

"In flesh and blood," he answered.

"You guys know each other already?" Carla spoke out.

"Yeah, we do but I never knew he---

"Was a fashionista and a rich man aie?" he smirked.

"You know, I have always found trouble in finding love and friendship. People only came close to me because of my money, and nothing less. So when I saw Soraya from a distance, I thought she was the one. So I decided to disguise myself as an ordinary working-class man to approach her. She never judged me and we had mad fun, but when we got back to Jersey City, NJ everything changed. She went back to being rude and bossy, then she stopped sleeping with me in the same room. She started staying out late and not coming back home for some days, And on those occasions, I always seemed to bump into you, Freya. And I was glad I was. I looked forward to seeing you, I just liked the way you related to me, so kind. And now, here we are." he cut short his story.

"Oh, so it was Soraya you kept talking of?" she asked.

"And you Zed right?" he smirked.

"How did you know?" Carla beat Freya to that question.

"I did my research." he smiled.

"Anyways, back to business ladies," he stated.

"Hello." she hugged him as she reached where he stood.

"Hello to you too, sexy." he winked at her as he took her hand and walked towards the beach.

Nichole and Deven were getting along quite well. She made him happy and he made her happy. He made her see the world from a different angle. "So, how was your day?" he asked eating ice cream.

"It was quite stressful, meetings here and there, signing stuff, approving, rejecting stuff. Scolding workers." she went on and on.

"What about you?" she asked realising she was talking too much.

"Just the normal stuff as you did. Being CEO is tough." he rubbed his neck.

"Stiff neck?" she asked.

"Yeah, and some bad headaches as well." he confided.

"You gotta see a chiropractor, he or she might help," she advised.

"I know, I've been trying to. But I can't make out time. I hardly get home before 2 am." he stated.

"I would book an appointment for both of us so we go get treated. These stiff necks and shoulders aren't comfortable at all." she smiled as Deven laid down putting his head on her laps. Her hand automatically went to his hair playing with it.

"That feels good, don't stop." he held her hand when she was about removing it from his hair.

"Yes Sir." she chuckled starring at the sea, lost in her own thoughts.

"Dr Miguel," May said passing by his office.

"Hey, I was just about going home. It has been a real hectic day," he said to her.

"How about we go grab some dinner before you head home?" she suggested.

"I, um--

"Please don't say no, I've been meaning to give you a treat since you came but, you've been too busy for that." she nervously giggled.

"Alright then, lead the way." he smiled at her as her eyes lit up.

Be flexible Miguel,

Allow yourself to love again

Open your beautiful heart to let people in

Stop being too uptight

Enjoy the beauty of life

And enjoy the joy of being loved by someone again

It's a great feeling you cannot miss out on.

These thoughts run through his mind as May led him to her car.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
