The Proud Boss Lady.

Chapter 34: 34

"I just want you to look at me

And see that I can be worth your love

I just want you to look at me

And see that I can be

Good enough (good enough)

Good enough (good enough)

Good enough

And see that I can be, yeah

Good enough (good enough)

Good enough (good enough)

Good enough

Good enough (look at me)

I'm standing right here waiting for you, here I am

(Look at me)

Lookin' for your acceptance, do you give a damn?

(Look at me)

See it doesn't matter what you think, I'm still a man

(Look at me)

Open up your eyes, can't you see that I'm good enough

(I just want you to look at me)

Look at me

I just want you to look at me

And see that I can be

Good enough, good enough

Good enough

And see that I can be, yeah

Good enough, good enough

Good enough, good enough..." Jussie joined Jackie on the stage as they both sang his song 'GOOD ENOUGH.'

The crowd went wild at the lovely duo. Jackie couldn't believe the birthday celebrant would mount the stage to perform with her. She shed tears of joy recalling the past year's when she was just a struggling music student, and now she was slowly gaining fame and fans.

"That was a great performance, and you have great talent. Maybe we could do this when you're free, I mean hit the studio and record more songs together." Jussie said to her.

"I'd really love that," Jackie managed to say.

"Enjoy the party." he nodded at her and then walked off. Mase hugged Jackie and span her around.

"You did wonderful out there tonight J," Mason praised.

"I couldn't have done it without you either, Mase. You know let's just enjoy the party for tonight and await what tomorrow might bring." she poked him.

"It's strange seeing you do grocery shopping by yourself," Zed whispered into Soraya's ears.

"Oh, hi." she smiled at him.

"So?" he asked waiting for her to reply his first question.

"Okay, I was bored at home and decided to come shop. My maid has travelled to visit her family," she admitted.

"What of you? shouldn't you be at work or with lover girl?" she asked.

"I have staff that would take care of the place and I and Freya aren't together anymore, we just want to figure out whether being together might be the best or going our separate ways," he told her. "Okay, so you don't mind joining me for a drink tonight?" she invited.

"Oh, of course not, send me your location, let's focus on communicating,

'Cause I just need the time and place to come through, (place to come through), send me your location, let's ride the vibrations, I don't need nothing else but you, (I don't need nothing else but you)." he sang. "Did, you just sing a part of Khalid's 'location'?" she chuckled.

"I guess I did." he winked at her.

"Don't worry I would text you the details." she sashayed out.

You are one indecisive man, Zed. His conscience pricked.

It's not my fault, I can not seem to help it when I see her, she was and still is my first love. He insisted.

"Jess! It's been a while I saw you. How are you doing?" Freya asked letting her friend into her apartment

"I am good, you?" she asked sitting on the couch.

"I'm great, care for water, food?" she inquired.

"I need a minute, apartment hunting is not that easy you know." she sighed. She had gathered enough money from the pay she was making from Miguel, to move out from Zed's. She felt as if she was making i inconvenient for him.

"You're moving out?" Freya rubbed her arm.

"Yeah, I am. Do you know of any real estate agent who could help me?" she hoped her friend knew.

"No, but I've had an apartment I've wanted to lease for a while now," she said as her friend's face lit up.

"Can I see it, I'm kinda desperate now." she giggled.

"Let's go then, it's a walking distance though," Freya told her as they headed out the door.

A few minutes of talking and catching up, they arrived at a beautiful apartment. They walked towards it as Freya unlocked the door. The interior decor was lovely and simple. It had grey marbled walls and was spacious enough for Jess. It was also a three-bedroom apartment.

"This is gorgeous, it has beautiful views of the town too. I love it." Jess beamed.

"How much do I pay for a year?" she asked after the tour.

"Per month it's $2000, so for a year it's $24000." Freya calculated the math for her friend.

"I would take it asap, any paperwork I need to fill out?" she asked her friend.

"Yes, I've got them here." she opened a drawer and pulled out the tenant forms for Jess to fill out. She took her time filling the forms as Freya recalled when she used to live in that apartment.

She rented it when she started as a fashion intern. As soon as she started climbing to the top, that was the first property she bought. She was glad it was going to good hands.

"And done," she handed them over to her as she signed both forms. She gave one to Freya for keeps and kept the other.

"Here you go." she handed her an envelope containing the rent for a year.

"Well, welcome to your new home." Freya beamed.

"Thanks, Freya, I really appreciate this," she admitted as they walked out of the apartment to Freya's.

"I've been meaning to ask, is there any future for you and Zed?" she wanted to know.

"I can't tell Jess, it looks like he's stuck up on Soraya if he chooses her I am fine with that," she admitted.

"At least, we all tried but if it's her, he wants, so be it," Jess added.

Zed arrived at the bar 10 minutes before 7 pm and waited for Soraya to arrive. She was already at the bar watching him from a distance.

"This time he went by his words and came earlier," she murmured to herself as she picked her bag and walked towards him.

"Seems someone's early," she said sitting beside him.

"Yeah, you look splendid by the way." he complimented.

"When have I ever not?" she proudly added.

"You know, I've missed you and your arrogant self," he admitted.

"Funny enough, I've missed you too Zed. I just realised I was a fool to let you go," she admitted.

"The Soraya Wayne, admitting to a fault? Now, that's new." Zed teased.

"What would you like to drink?" she had trouble maintaining eye contact with Zed.

"It's your treat, surprise me," he responded.

"Okay, we would have a bottle of Chamisal stainless Chardonnay 2019," she ordered.

"Ah, never estimate the power of Soraya Wayne, she doesn't seem to disappoint, ever." Zed gassed her up.

"And you always seize each opportunity to praise me, isn't that charming?" she winked at him as the bartender set the bottle of wine and two glasses before them.

"Thanks," Soraya added as the bartender walked off.

"Hey, is your boss in?" Noah asked the maid.

"No, she's not. She left a couple of hours ago," she told.

"Did she say where she was going?" he inquired.

"She asked me to give you this." she handed him a note and walked off.

"Hi Noah, I'm gone out for a drink with a friend. Have something to eat, take your shower and have some rest. Don't wait up for me, I may or may not come home tonight. Have a lovely night and don't miss me too much.

Soraya xoxoxoxox." It read.

Where could she have gone to? he wondered stepping into the kitchen to get some food to eat.
