Chapter 6
The village looked even more beautiful at night with all the houses and gardens lit up. I watched the residents enjoying themselves walking with their loved ones or their amicus.
"All the residents are happy to meet you...You must understand that many of them fought⁸ alongside your parents against evil. Many of them were close friends and loved you. And their death affected all of Antaris..." narrated Avery while looking at me solicitously.
"I'm sorry Avery, but I still don't remember any of this. Your father said I need to take my time to remember. I need to have memories. I was eight when my parents died." I answered him as I leaned against the balcony railing.
Avery stood next to me and watched me as I admired the view.
"I don't even remember my brother...Aidan. It makes me sad to think that I've been alone all my life and I longed so much for my family. My grandparents gave me a beautiful childhood... but I longed for my mother and father...and now my brother as well... I found out today." I said softly while looking into Avery's eyes.
His look told me that he felt sympathy and that my situation was bothering him. The purple glitter in his eyes became even more intense when he touched my hand. I didn't understand why his eyes only had this purple glitter when he was in contact with me, but otherwise seemed completely normal .
"Tomorrow you will see your brother again. We are going to Bellatorum Island. This is an island where we train warriors, and your brother is one of the best trainers." said Avery.
I was excited and nervous, the whole day was very exciting.
"You should get some sleep now, my love. Don't worry, you're safe here. I would never allow anything bad to happen to you." I heard Avery say as I walked him to the door.
"Thank you Avery...thank you for everything you did for me today..." I said goodbye.
He took my hand and kissed it softly "There's nothing to say thank you for..sleep tight, my love." he said and walked down the hall to his room.
I lay in bed for a while and thought about the whole day after what had happened. I knew one thing... I'm safe here. My parents used to be safe here too... and my brother still is to this day. I'll stay here until I get my memories back. Maybe then I'll know why Aidan and I were separated when we were kids. And with the thoughts of my new life and all the changes that are happening, I fell asleep.
I stood in front of a cave, the entrance was sealed with a spell and glowed red. No matter where I looked I saw small red flowers on the ground and large trees that had human outlines. I was very afraid of the noises coming from animals. The hissing was very loud
ˋIris...you have to come to me.Only with me will you be able to tame your strength. You have to free me..search for me´
I heard the familiar voice in my head when I woke up from my dream with the Scare as if it were reality.
I've had dreams since I was little. I spoke to this voice my whole life. Often this voice was my only friend and understood me better than all the people around me. I got the best advice from this voice and it was always kind.
When I told this to my grandmother, she said that I have a blooming imagination. And that all people talk to themselves. So I thought nothing of it, but now everything has changed. Maybe this voice is more than my imagination...
I get out of bed and freshen up. A bath in such a large bathtub did me good. And when I opened the closet I was amazed, so many beautiful clothes it was difficult to decide what to wear.
Freshly styled in a pair of skin-tight pants and a corset-like top, I quickly did my hair and went to Ava. I knocked on Ava's door and heard a "come in" from the other side.
When I entered her room she was getting ready and smiled at me.
"Well how did you sleep my dear?" she asked me while looking at herself in the mirror.
I didn't want to tell about my weird dream, so I just said fine.
Ava turned to me and said, "Let's go find the others. We have to be going soon. Your brother doesn't even know you're here. I'm so happy for you," she said while walking me to Avery's door.
Just as she was about to knock, his door opened and Avery stood in front of us.
Ava explained to her brother what the plan is, but he didn't seem to be listening. His gaze went straight over Ava's shoulder to me.
His eyes scanned my body and the purple glow in his eyes reappeared as he gazed into mine. For a while he just stood there and looked at me. When Ava saw him staring at me she laughed out loud.
"Awkwaaard....Avery you can also tell Iris she looks very pretty today...creep" I heard Ava say as she started walking.
Avery snapped out of his gaze and smiled awkwardly.
"Sorry...I was just...You look beautiful today. I hope you slept well." he said as we followed Ava.
His presence helped me a lot when I was scared last night. And it still does.
As we walked into a large room packed with people, I felt safe next to Avery.
"Well what do we have here?" I heard a man ask, cocking his head to the side and winking at me.
" Nothing for you,You Arrogant Wood Elf. She's under Avery's protection." Ava replied while adding quotation marks at the protection.
He looked at Avery and raised his hands to show he understood. Avery looked at him with a raised eyebrow and asked him "Elian, don't you have better things to do than to annoy us in the morning?"
The man whose name is Elian bowed dramatically to us and explained with a laugh, "No, my darling, today I have the task of accompanying you. By order of the king."
They both started laughing and then greeted each other with a hug. We sat down at a table and Avery introduced me to his very good friend Elian while they chatted and worked out the details. Employees brought us breakfast and while I was eating I looked around the room.
Everyone in this room had an unnaturally large charisma. The women were beautiful, whether elf, fairy or witch, they had a radiant beauty. And the men were tall and strong with distinctive features.I've never seen elves or fairies in my life except on tv. But those laughing and talking in front of me didn't look like it. They didn't have pointy ears or wings but looked like ordinary humans only with something bright around them.Avery interrupted my watching when he asked me if everything was alright.
And when I saw Ava talking to Elian, I leaned in to Avery and asked him quietly "What do these colors mean around you?"
"Those colors you see is our aura. Our power and purpose. Ava and I are elves therefore our aura is purple. Just like your mother was, and your brother Aidan is, and my father...Jade is a witch and her aura is yellow...Noah,Alvar and Elian are forest fairies..my mother was a forest fairy too...." Avery explained to me
"Was?" I asked.
"My mother died....Long ago there was a fight and she was killed by Amon. The scar on his face is from that fight...this was her last gift to him before he murdered her." answered Avery in a sad voice.
"I'm sorry Avery I had no right to ask you." I said shocked.
"I have no secrets from you, my love. Everything you want to know I will explain to you." he said
"I expected wings and pointy ears and not aura of different colors." I said laughing.
"Well, 'my love' our ways come out when we use our powers." Elian explained to me while imitating Avery and calling me 'My Love'. Ava and Elian started laughing as they obviously overheard our conversation.
I was about to ask him about my red aura, but then I saw two familiar faces step into the room.Noah and Jade joined us and greeted us with smiles.
" Itˋs time to leave." said Noah to Avery.
We made our way to my brother and walked through the village towards the forest.
"Our amicus all live in this forest. This is the spirit forest." Jade explained to me as we walked into it.
Each of them briefly glowed in their color and I understood that this is the art of communication that they have with their power animals. For shortly thereafter, animals began to move in our direction.
I was mesmerized as all these animals stood in front of me. Noah and Elian mounted oversized blue birds. Jade mounted to Noah with her animal friend a snake with two heads and yellow eyes. And Ava and Avery got on the backs of beautiful unicorns.
"Come, my love don't be afraid ,Eyon is my amicus." Avery said as he gave me his hand and lifted me onto his unicorn.
Yesterday I was Iris, the girl from the bookshop... and today I'm riding on a unicorn to see my brother. How quickly my whole life has changed.
