The Princess Slave

Chapter 91

Violette POV

Where am I? What happened?

My mind flashed with memories and my eyes shot open. My pup.. where’s my pup?

My hands rolled over my empty belly. Where’s my pup?

“Viktor? Viktor!” I cried frantically. I heard quick footsteps and a door opened, Viktor ran out of his office and over to me.

“Violette? You’re awake! Goddess.. I was afraid..” he cupped my face and looked at me. He doesn’t seem to have gotten much sleep. His black hair was tousled.. his dark bags under his hazel eyes..

“What happened? Where’s the pup?” I cried. My fingers kept running over my empty, flat belly. I curse werewolf healing.

“She’s okay! She’s perfect Violette.” He said softly. He wiped my tears away with his thumbs.

“She?” I asked.

“You don’t remember?” He responded.

“I do.. but everything after my.. Father is blurry.” I said. He visibly tensed at the mention of my Father.

“You.. remember what happened? That you.. killed him?” He asked. I nodded.

“Where is she? I want to see her.. I need to see her.” I said as I tried to climb out of bed.

“Violette, my love.. take it easy. Stay here, I will bring her to you.” He said softly. He helped me back into the bed and walked off towards his office. After a few moments, he stepped out with a little bundle in his arms.

“She was a few weeks early.. but Beatrice checked her and continues to do so every day. She’s.. absolutely perfect.” He said. He sat on the bed and my eyes widened when she started crying.

“Shh.. shh. Little love. Mama’s awake.. she’s here now.” He said softly. I began to panic when he held her out to me.

“How long was I asleep?” I asked.

“A few days..” he said. He placed her in my shaking arms.

“How has she eaten?” I asked.

“I.. didn’t want to.. but I had to hire a wet nurse until you woke.” He said. A tear slipped from my eye.

“I.. didn’t get to feed her first.” I cried. My emotions are absolutely crazy right now..

“It’s okay, love. It’s not your fault.. but it had to be done.” He said. He wiped my tears away once again.

“Her name?” I asked as I looked up at him. I hoped he’d waited.. he shook his head.

“That’s something the both of us get to do together. Until now, it’s just been, little love.” He chuckled softly.

“Any ideas?” I asked.

“Do you have any?” He asked. I took a moment to think.

“Colette?” I asked. His face paled.

“This is going to sound absolutely crazy.. but that’s the first name I thought of.” He said.

“What do you think of it?” I asked. He smiled a toothy smile.

“It’s beautiful.” He said. I nodded my head in approval.

“Colette Alina Kotova?” I asked. He smiled brightly.

“It’s the perfect name for our perfect girl.” He said. He brushed the side of my face with his hand.

I looked down at her.. her beautiful white hair, her small features.. she truly is magnificent.

“She.. looks just like you.” He said. Tears filled my eyes once again.

“She won’t have to be brought up in a world.. with my Father. Minerva?” I asked.

“She’s gone. You.. made quite sure of that.” He said. His face filled with regret.

“She stabbed me.. she was trying to kill our pup.. I lost it. They.. they both were going to kill her.” I cried.

“But they didn’t. Not even a scratch.” He said. He moved beside me and pulled me and Colette against him.

“Everything happened so fast.. I.. could reach the knife so I..” he stopped me by shaking his head.

“You don’t need to talk about it if you don’t want to. He’s gone, they won’t hurt you or Colette ever again.” He said.

“I’m sorry.. I didn’t realize Minerva was so.. crazy.” He said.

“She was never nice to me.. she traded my life for yours..” I said. His face grew red from anger.

“I should’ve made sure you were safe before I left.. I should’ve done better. It’s my fault.” He said. I shook my head.

“No. I trusted Boris.. I’m the one who left with him even though I felt something was wrong.” I said. Little Colette began to cry.

“You should feed her.. it’s about time.” He said. I looked over at him.

“I.. don’t know how,” I said. Tears spilled from my eyes again.

“It’s simple.. I can help, or I can have Beatrice show you.. She said your milk should’ve come in by now.” He said. I nodded my head. He peeled my sleeve back and helped me pull her to my nipple.

She latched instantly and began suckling.

“I’ll have Beatrice come look you over.. and bring food.” He said. My stomach made a loud growling sound at the thought of food.

“Okay..” I said with a small smile. My finger was gripped by Colette’s tiny little hand.. she has great strength.

Several moments later, Beatrice walked into the room. She placed the tray stacked high with food on the dresser.

“Thank the Moon Goddess.” She said as she rushed over to me. She wrapped her arms around my shoulders.

“I see you’re having no difficulty getting her to eat.” She said as she pulled away. I nodded.

“I’ve never seen a baby eat before..” I said as I looked up at her.

“It’s very simple, you will quickly get the hang of it and it’ll be as easy as breathing.” She said with a smile. She walked over to the tray and brought it to me.

“After she eats, she will unlatch herself. I will check your wound, then. So far, as you were sleeping.. it hasn’t healed the best but I’m hoping with the last and you being awake it will have healed nicely.” She said.

“You gave us all a fright, dear.. I’m happy to see you up and alert.” She said. Sadness flashed in her eyes.

“I’m fine, Beatrice. Thanks to every one of you.” I said.

“I will tell the others you’re awake. You can see them whenever you wish.” She said softly.

“Thank you.. Beatrice.” I replied. I looked back down at my pup and smiled. She’s okay.. we’re both okay..
