Freya was determined to explore the East Saeville District on foot, a decision that left the driver and bodyguard assigned by Nathaniel slightly taken aback However, they dared not wrestle the steering wheel away from Ms. Gomez.

As they watched Freya drive off from Newport Villa course of action being to inform Mr. Morgan.

It seemed as though Ms. Gomez was growing increasingly audacious, a consequence of Mr. Morgan’s indulgence.

Freya’s first stop was the East Saeville Nursing Home, where she spent some time with her mother. Whenever she had a spare moment, she would sit by her mother’s side, holding her hand and talking to her in the hope that she might awaken.

Next, she visited Peyton’s café, pleasantly surprised to find it bustling with customers.

Peyton had even hired a pastry chef and had quickly mastered the art of making coffee herself.

“Fay! What can I get you? It’s on the house!” Peyton called out as she spotted Freya entering the café.

Having taken a few photographs during her walk, Freya set down her camera and took a seat, feeling a pang of hunger after her long stroll.

“I’ll have a coffee and a slice of mousse cake. How much will that be?” Freya teased.

“Stop it, you know this café wouldn’t be here without your investment. I’ll get your order, just give me a moment,” Peyton replied, disappearing behind the counter.

Freya busied herself with her camera, reviewing the landscape photos she had taken in search of inspiration.

“Nice shot!” A sudden male voice startled her, causing her to nearly drop her camera.

Annoyed, she looked up to find the intruder sitting across from her. To her surprise, it was the young man she had seen boxing in the underground ring.

He was quite stylish, sporting a t–shirt with a golden skull design and chain–laden slacks. Up close, his features were strikingly handsome, with thin lips, deep–set eyes, a high nose bridge, and fair skin. A small scar near his eye added a touch of ruggedness to his youthful appearance.

Freya frowned. Including their chance encounter at the underground boxing ring, this was their third meeting.

She was not comfortable socializing with strange men, especially those who appeared out of the blue.

As she was about to leave, the man grabbed her camera strap.

“I don’t know you, you’d better let go,” Freya warned him politely.

The young man laughed, his face lighting up with amusement.
