The Pigeon Pair Saves The Marriage by Janice Gold

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

When Edith arrived at the kindergarten, she encountered a standoff involving three people in three different positions in the office that formed a triangle.

In one of the three positions, there was a teacher who seemed somewhat helpless.

In the other position, there was a little girl with slightly messy hair and delicate features. However, her lips were tightly pressed, and her demeanor was slightly haughty.

Edith could tell at a glance that this girl came from a wealthy family. Her pampered pride was evident. She must be spoiled by her family, dressed in expensive clothing. Even the hair clip on her head looked expensive.

In the last position, Ruben and Jeanne were standing to one side.

Jeanne’s curly hair was even more disheveled, and a small scratch near her ear was particularly noticeable on her smooth cheek.

Standing close to Jeanne and leaning close to her face, Ruben gently blew on her wound and finally said, “Mom said blowing on a boo-boo makes it hurt less.”

Holding Ruben’s hand tightly, Jeanne smiled at him, “Don’t worry, Ruben. I’m fine.”

“Jeanne!” Edith, seeing this, worried, rushed over, pulled the children into her arms, and carefully checked them over. Fortunately, other than the scratch on Jeanne’s face, they had no other injuries.

She then stood up, looked at the approaching teacher, and then at the little girl who haughtily turned her head after glancing at her with a snort. Edith frowned slightly, “What happened here?”

“The girls had a fight, but neither of them told me why,” the teacher sighed, clearly frustrated.

Just then, the office door opened, and a woman in a floral dress hurried in, heading straight for the little girl. She embraced her and asked, “Joyce, what happened?”

Edith watched the woman coldly.

The woman was beautiful and gentle, with an elegant demeanor.

“Ms. Hayes, I just talked to Ms. Jones. The girls didn’t tell me why they fought.”

Edith, expressionless with cold eyes, looked at the woman who asked the little girl softly, “Joyce, tell me, what happened? Why did you fight at kindergarten?”

The girl, pressing her lips, remained silent and clung to her mother, whining. “Mom, she bullied me first!”

Glaring at the girl with big eyes, Jeanne finally couldn’t stand it and spoke angrily, her cute voice filled with anger and grievance. “She called Ruben a fool and said we were ill-mannered without a dad!”

Edith was taken aback, her expression turning cold instantly.

The teacher was at a loss and didn’t know how to react. She knew she couldn’t offend that woman and her child before her.

When that woman heard this, her expression changed from gentle to stern. “Joyce, how can

you say such things about your classmates? Is this how I taught you?”

Joyce, who had expected her mother’s support, was instead met with a reprimand. Her eyes reddened, tears welling up immediately. “Mom!”

“Enough!” the woman said sternly. Seeing her daughter burst into tears, she didn’t comfort. her but stood up, turned to Edith, and apologized to her with a remorseful expression, “I’m so sorry. I’m Joyce’s mother, Danika Hayes. She said something wrong without thinking. I’ll make sure to teach her properly after going home.”

Still a bit angry, Edith, seeing Danika’s appropriate attitude, simply shook her head, indicating it was okay. She then crouched down, gently touching the skin near Jeanne’s scratch with her finger. “Does it hurt, Jeanne?”

“No. Ruben blew on it for me.”

Surprised, Edith looked at Ruben.

Ruben, blushing, a bit shy, looked down and slightly moved his hands clasped together.

Smiling, looking up, Edith ruffled his hair. “Ruben, good boy. You’re so good at taking care of your sister.”

After speaking, she took the children’s hands, said goodbye to the teacher, and left.

Danika also apologized to the teacher and then left with her still sobbing daughter.

As they exited the kindergarten, Edith heard a call from behind. “Ms. Jones.”

After turning around, Edith saw Danika approaching with Joyce.

“Ms. Jones, I’m really sorry about what happened today,” Danika said earnestly.

Joyce was surprised her mother was still apologizing outside the kindergarten, glaring with her still-red eyes. “Mom, why are you still apologizing? Why are you afraid of them? My dad is so powerful!”

Danika’s expression changed, and she scolded, “Joyce Peterson!”

Startled by being called her full name, Joyce snorted and turned her head away. Although she was still bitter, she said nothing.

Edith thought, Joyce Peterson?

“This little girl’s last name is Peterson!’

Edith pressed her lips together, saying nothing, but a strange feeling stirred within her.

Then she quickly felt she was just overthinking it.

She thought, “There are so many people whose last name is Peterson in the world. This must be just a coincidence.
