The Perfect Touchdown

Chapter Bonus Chapter II

1 Year Later... Day of the Wedding

Today was the day, all my dreams were coming true. I was about to marry my best friend and the love of my life. We had been through so much together in life, from growing up with each other to all the secrecy and suffering that finally led us to this day.

I was remembering the day he proposed to me while I gazed at myself in the floor-length mirror in the whitest gown, it was almost blinding. I laughed several times when I saw how white it was, knowing that I was the furthest thing from 'pure' at that moment, especially with the bedroom activities Aiden and I had finally got up to once we rekindled 3 years ago.

The door burst open and the twins rushed in, dressed perfectly and looking like angels in their bridesmaids' dresses.

"We got it," Kendra said.

"Finally," Kinsley grumbled and held up my veil.

"Jeez, what took them so long with it? It's such a simple design."

I laid out the veil and looked at the large Dallas Cowboys star stitched into the lacing. This year Aiden was finally drafted into one of the teams of his dreams, the Cowboys. Today was also the day I was going to make two very important announcements to him.

I had been waiting years for this moment and it couldn't have come at a better time, I just couldn't wait to see the look on his face after the ceremony.

Isabelle walked in soon after, complaining about how itchy the back of her maid-of-honour dress was, but stopped and started crying when she saw me.

"You're so beautiful, oh my god!"

"You're going to ruin your makeup," I laughed. She wiped her eyes and thankfully the makeup stayed intact.

"Are we all ready?" the Priest ducked his head in. As an Irish Catholic, I wanted to get married in the Church, and thankfully Aiden had no qualms with that, he was just excited to marry me.

I mean, could he be any more perfect?

"We are here today to join these two in holy matrimony. God has bestowed upon this couple the blessing of everlasting love. These two will join together in suffering and in sickness, in love and in loss." The Priest turned to Aiden and cleared his throat. "Please repeat after me, 'I, Aiden Reed, take this woman to be my lawfully wedded wife. In sickness and in health, in love and in loss, until death do us part."

Aiden could barely get through the vows, his throat closed up and his words croaked out.

"Now, please repeat the same," he said to me.

"I, Rylee Parks, take this man to be my lawfully wedded husband. In sickness and in health, in love and in loss, until death do us part." My voice trembled and my lips quivered as I spoke, but I couldn't be prouder or happier to say those words.

“I now pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss your bride." Aiden tossed my veil over and captured my lips in the most loving kiss ever. He pulled back and finally looked at the back of my veil, his eyes clouded up with confusion.

"I'll tell you in a second," I grinned.

"Please join me in welcoming the new couple, Mr. and Mrs. Reed!" Everyone shouted and cheered, and we rushed down the aisle. I felt just like the little schoolgirl I was when I first realized my true feelings for this beautiful man I could now call my husband.

Everyone made it into the reception room and sat down to begin speeches, but before they could begin I took the mic.

"If I could have everyone's attention before we start eating and giving the speeches, I have some special news that I have been keeping for some time now," I said and looked down at Aiden.

"Yesterday morning I received my acceptance letter to be a member of the Dallas Cowboys cheer team!"

Aiden jumped up and hugged me, then lifted me off my feet and turned us around. "Wait, be careful! I have one more announcement."

He put me down. "Be careful?" he asked.

"Yes, because I have one more thing to tell you," I said and cleared my throat, then took a deep breath. "You're going to be a father, I'm pregnant."

This time he completely broke down and started crying tears of joy as he hugged me much more gently. The room once more erupted in cheers and many people rushed up to congratulate us.

Nothing could ever beat this day, except maybe the day our sweet daughter finally joined us and made our family whole.
