Chapter 8 - Raging Brothers
Prince Damon growled in rage. He thrust his hands at his brother and tossed him across the partition dividers. "How dare you?" he roared like a wounded lion. Ripping off his royal mantle and tossing it away, he was ready for a fight with his younger brother. He gnawed and walked across the partition dividers.
As he was about to lay his hands on his brother again, Princess Bonnie held his dominant hand from behind. "Let him be!" she yelled and then started panting slowly.
She was still feeble and needed to be on her bed resting. Unable to let out another word, she collapsed into Prince Damon's arms.
Carrying her to her bed, he looked over his shoulder and asked his brother to leave at once.
Prince Oswald sprang up to his feet, chuckling like a lunatic. His eyes hardened as he narrowed his gaze at Prince Damon, "If anyone should be on his way back to Wex, it should be you. After all, I fought bravely to save her and to bring her home."
Prince Damon ignored his brother. He laid Princess Bonnie on her bed as he thought to himself.
"Are you not going to say a thing or are you not going to leave?" Prince Oswald's lips curled as his jaw clenched.
Prince Damon swirled. "For saving the future Queen of Wex, you will be rewarded. But now, you have to leave at once."
Prince Oswald chuckled once more. "You lie!" he knew his brother is the future king of the kingdom of Wex and that would make Princess Bonnie the future Queen. However, he's not going to let that happen. "Where were you when I rescued her?!" he gnawed.
"Let me tell you something you don't know, brother." Prince Damon picked up his royal mantle and rolled it in his left arm. Casting a scornful sideways glance at his brother, he continued, "She was on her way to meet with me at the Saxon village which means she chose me over you and Prince Eliot."
He just gave Prince Oswald a good reason to be pissed at him. The Crown Prince had stirred his brother to display his ire.
Prince Oswald couldn't help but charge towards his brother. With a powerful thrust, he drove his hand upward, punching Prince Damon in the face.
The Crown Prince fought back too. They exchanged blows upon blows.
On a certain occasion before their father, King Charles, the three brothers argued about who should be with the Princess of Maxis. Prince Eliot argued strongly it wasn't about how handsome they appeared to be but who could protect the Princess from the dangers that had besieged the Kingdom of Wex and the Kingdom of Maxis.
Amongst the three brothers, Princess Bonnie is yet to figure out the most handsome and who she will spend the rest of her life with. She's confused. When Prince Damon breaks into a smile, he displays his shining halo teeth. He had bristly eyebrows and Viking-gold hair. His eyes were a-fire with passion and a soft gentle voice whispering sweet words into the princess' ear.
Prince Eliot had a dashing personality and a cosmic smile. When he walks, he moves with a leopard-like grace with his Titan's shoulders raised. His voice is deep when he speaks and his blonde hair clashed on his shoulders. Prince Oswald is dishy with sea rover-blue eyes. He is adventurous and his earthly scent swirls around him and his shiny goatee beard is well-kept.
"What is going on here?!"
King Gilbert's roaring like an enraged lion startled them to a stop.
They quickly stood still, lowering their heads and feeling shame for their actions.
King Gilbert's countenance isn't friendly. He furrows his face which had been riddled with scars from multiple wars as he slowly touches his beard, tied into a knot. He was expecting them to explain their actions. He couldn't believe his daughter could be lying unconscious and what they did was to fight instead of looking out for her.
Seeing that they were unwilling to explain their actions, he shook his head in disbelief. "You two are a disgrace to the Kingdom of Wex. Now leave my presence at once!"
King Gilbert maintained a long-lasting treaty with the Kingdom of Wex. He's a born warrior and has fought in many battles. He's not ready to let his friendship with the King of Wex, King Charles, be ruined by his sons.
On hearing the voice command, Prince Damon wanted to plead his case but the king silenced him and asked him to leave at once and to take his brother along.
"What's going on here?" Princess Bonnie squeezed out. She had regained consciousness. Sliding down her bed, she narrowed her eyes on her father and focused her gaze, expecting answers.
"How are you feeling?" King Gilbert ignored her question. He made his way to her bed and stood beside it. "I am glad you are well." His cheeks flushed with smiles.
"Father, why are they leaving?" she said, pointing to the door.
Prince Damon and Prince Oswald left the room without saying a word, shutting the door after them. They were just obeying the king's command.
"Let's not worry about them. You are well and that's what matters to me." He took her hand and placed it on his palm. "I am glad you are well, my child." He flashed a winning smile.
Deep down in him, he isn't happy his daughter defiled his decree. He didn't want to show his displeasure towards her actions now. What matters is she survives the furious beasts.
Their father-and-daughter moment was suddenly interrupted by a full-fisted knock on the door that was followed by a few more.
"Father, are you expecting anyone?" Princess Bonnie glanced at him.
"Not at all," he answered. He turned, making his way to the door to answer it. Before he could get to the door, the door slowly opened with a creaking sound. Making a profile of Prince Eliot, he cried out in frustration, "Not again!" He wasn't expecting to see any son of King Charles, trouble their night.
