The Palace Beast

Chapter 35 - Ghoul

"I am a demon and fallen angel. I followed Beelzebub who is one of the demon princes upon his fall from heaven and became an important demon in Hell. However, after my treason, I am left with one red wing. I later traveled to Egypt where I hardened the heart of Pharaoh and his advisors and convinced them to pursue the fleeing Israelite slaves. For years I have dwell in the Red Sea after drowning with the Egyptian until King Charles summoned me for help." As Abezethibou speaks a flash of forked lightning and a great clap of thunder came close upon each other. Thunder roared and lightning flashed across the sky reaching inside the chamber.

Abezethibou lives in the Red Sea, plots against every wind under the heavens. During the time of King Solomon, Abezethibou states that he once sat in the first heaven, named Amelouth. He was present when Moses was taken before the pharaoh of Egypt and was summoned to the aid of the Egyptian magicians when they sought to discredit Moses. Abezethibou takes credit for inciting the Egyptians to pursue the Israelites in their exodus. When the parted Red Sea falls in on the Egyptians, Abezethibou is trapped with the pillar of air, until the demon Ephippas arrives to take him to King Solomon. Solomon binds Abezethibou and Ephippas to the pillar and commands that they hold it up in the air until the end of time.

But this was ruined by desperate Gilbertcus who wants to be king. He summoned Abezethibou releasing him from the pillar. Abezethibou made a path with Gilbertcus not to send him back and to erect a place of worship for him. This went sideways as Gilbertcus became king, he ordered Leo to destroy the temple of Abezethibou.

"I have heard all you have said. How are you going to make it happen?" Kay asked picking interest in what Abezethibou has to offer.

Kingdom of Maxis The following day, the sun blooms on the horizon, golden petals stretching ever outwards into the rich blue. It is the brilliant flower of the sky that warms the day. It is the invitation to a new day, that sunrise so ordinary extraordinary. Adrian walks into the king's throne hall to answer to him. He was just coming back from the kingdom of Uzex. The king's messengers met him on his way back and had to inform him the king needed his presence at once. Walking into the throne hall, he prostrates before King Afa who was seated on his father's throne. The mood of the king changed towards him as he frowned at him.

"Where have you been?" the king asked.

"Forgive me your highest, the Queen of Uzex summoned me on a crucial matter she has to discuss with me to share with you since it will be unwise to invite you all the way to Uzex." Adrian replied.

"Rise to your feet." The king said. His eyes were constantly fixed on Adrian as he rises to his feet. "What matter is Queen Eve talking about?"

Clearing his throat, Adrian took a step forward towards the king. "She welcomed me with the good news that her men killed three Dybbuks. And then she..."

Adrian's words were pushed back when Gerald rushed into the throne hall calling out for the king. "Your highness!"

Switching his attention to Gerald, the king quickly stood to his feet. "What news do you have."

"It's a ghoul, my king," he replied.

"Where is it, have you captured and killed it?" the king inquired with curiosity.

"No my lord, it's so fast and we need the healer's help in capturing it."

"What can a healer do? He is just a healer."

"There has been a rumor that he can help us with herbs to trap the ghoul."

Turning to face one of the imperial guards standing beside him, "Send word to the healer at once," said the king.

"Alright your highness!" said the guard as he quickly makes his way out.

"We have issues at hand; go be with your wife. We will talk later," said the king to Adrian.

"Thank you, your majesty," Adrian replied with a bow and then takes his leave.

Adrian's Quarters Standing at the front door of his house, he heard the cry of his newborn son. The mother has just finished bathing him and was wiping him with a dry towel. He leans by the edge of the wooden pillar supporting his house and peeps from the door hole. Seeing his wife and his son, his heart became heavy. He didn't know what to do but to walk in and face his troubled wife.

Walking into the door, the wife gently puts down the son and rushed to meet the husband. She threw her arms around him and whispered into his ear, "I thought I won't see you again. Welcome home, my husband."

"I am sorry," said Adrian in a tiny voice.

"Sorry about what?" she asked.

"I left without saying a word to you or a kiss on my son's forehead. I am sorry," he replied putting down his head in shame.

"I am happy you are home and in a good health," she replied putting up a pretty smile.

"I need to breastfeed our son, come sit beside us," she added picking Adrian's hand and leading him to where she has put down their son. She slowly picked up the baby and sat beside the husband. "Tell me, how was your trip?"

Sax Village Gerald and the king with a few of the guards ride towards the rocky road leading to the Sax village. The healer was riding with them as well. When they were approaching the entrance wooden gate of Sax village, the ghoul, lunged at the healer from a tree by the roadside.

Knocking off the healer from his horseback, the ghoul approaches the healer, grabbing the healer, the ghoul lifted him above the ground and buried its filth-tipped claws into the healer's chest.
