Chapter 119 - The First
The morning was cold and wet with a brisk wind sweeping the rain across the land of Maxis. A flash of forked lightning and a great clap of thunder came close upon each other. Thunder roared and lightning flashed across the sky. The king's courtier walked into the throne hall interrupting the council meeting of the nobles of Maxis.
"Lord Ramsey, a word!"
The king's courtier looks moody. His face isn't bright. He stood beside the throne of the late King and waits for Lord Ramsey to approach.
Noticing the look on the courtier's face, Lord Ramsey seems nervous. "What's the matter, my Lord?"
"It is three days now and you haven't provided any proof that Bonnie Gilbert is alive."
Some herald came from King Edward II requesting to know the situation of Maxis. The king is unpleased that King Absalom has not been declared the new King of Maxis after King Absalom sent his fighters to go report to the king of the delay. The king's herald just arrived a few moments ago wet in rain. It is agreed under the creed of King Edward II that 'the king's matter is urgent.'
"Please, I need one more day."
"At first I gave you two days but today is the third day. The king's herald just arrived with a message from the king. I am sorry but King Absalom will be announced as the new King of Maxis and you..."
The courtier's words were pushed back to his throat when Maxis's herald rushed into the throne hall yelling, "My Lord..."
"My Lord!"
Lord Ramsey turned and fixes his gaze at the herald. "What's the matter?" he asked.
The courtier seems unhappy for being interrupted. He glared at the herald and spoke with anger. "How dare you interrupt me?"
"Forgive me, Lord, I have good news."
"What good news?"
Lord Ramsey was eager to hear what the herald of Maxis has to say. His eyes are aglow with eagerness as he fixes his eyes on him in expectation.
But before the herald could speak, Lady Bonnie and John Willie were seen walking into the throne hall. They were led by a knight of Maxis.
"Impossible!" exclaimed the king's courtier. This is his first time seeing Bonnie since she went missing and presumed dead. He was able to recognize her because she has the exact look of her father, King Gilbert.
Lord Ramsey's joy is now complete. He glances at the king's courtier. "I told you she's alive."
Immediately Lady Bonnie draws closer, Lord Ramsey unsheathed his sword. He went down on one of his knees supporting himself with his sword as an act of reverence to the Princess of Maxis who is to be declared the new King of Maxis. "My Lady, I am at your service just as I have been to your late parents."
"You may rise."
"Thank you, my lady." Lord Ramsey rises to his feet and turned towards the king's courtier. "Now you have your proof, what next?"
"I am speechless."
The king's courtier couldn't believe this. He thought Lord Ramsey was just trying to delay the declaration of King Absalom as the new King of Maxis. But right now, his thoughts have been proven to be mere thoughts at the appearance of Lady Bonnie Gilbert of Maxis.
"My Lord, you don't have to be speechless. It's your voice that we need now to declare Lady Bonnie the new King of Maxis."
"Certainly, it is my voice that is needed." The king's courtier approaches Bonnie and stared deep into her eyes and fired some volume of questions that has been bothering him. "Where have you been all these years? How did you survive? Why are you here now that your brother is dead?"
"These questions don't matter. The good news is she's alive and she's the heir and must reclaim Maxis." John spoke up. He didn't like the king's courtier being too pushy to find out things he's not supposed to know about Bonnie. "And who is this man, if I may ask?"
The king's courtier has never seen John and to him, John is a total stranger and does not belong to the council.
"Forgive him, my Lord, he's my special adviser."
Bonnie is still familiar with their laws. If John does not hold any position, he's not permitted to sit in the council nor to speak up. She just covered up that John is her adviser which has vindicated John.
The king's courtier turned and faces Lord Ramsey. "You asked me what next? Let Lady Bonnie of Maxis prepare for the ceremony tonight. She shall be declared the new King of Maxis."
On hearing this, the council present let out a loud shout of jubilation. Though their meeting was interrupted but the interruption has brought good news.
The knight that led Bonnie and John into the throne hall approaches Bonnie. "My Lady, permit me to take you to your chamber."

"I will do that, you should retire to your duties." Lord Ramsey offered to take the lady to her chamber. He was still curious and has some questions bothering him. He walked closer to Bonnie and started staring at her. "Why are you looking at me in such a manner?"
"Your cloth."
"What happened to my cloth?"
"The knight that led you here said you just arrived. I was wondering why your cloth and his isn't wet since it's raining heavily."
"It doesn't matter how we came, what matters is that your new King is here. And if you don't mind, the King has to retire to her chamber."
John saved Bonnie the trouble of explaining herself to Ramsey who is the commander of the knights just as he saved her from the stress and trouble of traveling down to Maxis on a horseback. John used his powers to appear in Maxis with Bonnie.
Lord Ramsey wasn't happy with John's interference. He frowned at him. "Who gave you the right to speak when I speak with my Lady?"
John giggles and chuckles. He stared Lord Ramsey in the eyes. "As the adviser of Lady Bonnie, I am your Lord and you must not raise your voice at me again or your head will be on a platter."
